Born to Rise : Becoming Vice President

Chapter 27: 27

Chapter 27: A New Light Amid the Threat

Morning – Daehan International School

The school was slowly returning to normal after exam week. But beneath the surface, tension lingered—digital attacks, online rumors, and anonymous intimidation had yet to stop.

In the student council room, Gevran sat with his new core team: Han Jimin, Rhea, and two other council officers—Daisuke Han, head of security, and Min Soojin, head of communications.

"This is the latest report from the monitoring team," Soojin said, handing over a tablet. "There's a spike in shadow account activity spreading slander about the student council election."

Daisuke nodded. "But there's a pattern. We've traced the source clusters. These aren't just regular students."

Gevran studied the screen, then spoke—his voice calm, but cutting:

> "If they play in the shadows, we'll answer with light. We're not just any student council—we're the guardians of this school's future."

---

Afternoon – School Cafeteria

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Gevran's younger siblings, Kaeyan and Kasang, were having lunch at home with their mother, Yi-Ana.

"Hyung's super busy lately, huh?" Kasang asked, sipping his seaweed soup.

Yi-Ana smiled gently. "He chose a heavy path. But you should both be proud. Not just because he's student council president… but because he never runs from responsibility."

Kaeyan nodded quietly. "I want to be like him too… maybe in my own way."

---

Evening – School Backyard

Gevran stood alone, gazing at the silhouette of the school bathed in orange twilight. His phone buzzed. A message appeared from an anonymous sender:

> "Do you think this is over? We're just getting started."

Gevran read the message slowly, then replied with a single line:

> "Start whenever you want. But I'll never stop."

---

> The world changes. But one thing remains the same: cowards will hide in the shadows, while the brave choose to stand in the light.

And Gevran… never feared the spotlight.

Late Night – Team 8-1-9 Headquarters

In the hidden media room behind the library, the soft hum of computers filled the air. Rhea leaned back in her chair, eyes scanning three chat windows at once.

"They're planting fake polls on outside forums now," she said. "Trying to make it look like the student body regrets voting for you."

Jimin scoffed. "Classic manipulation. Inflate doubt, seed division."

Daisuke cracked his knuckles. "I'll notify the cyber defense squad. We'll counter-flood the comments with verified accounts."

But Gevran raised a hand. "No. Let's try something different this time."

Everyone turned to him.

"We release our own data. Transparent. Raw. We tell the truth even when it's messy."

Min Soojin blinked. "That's risky… what if it makes you look vulnerable?"

"That's the point," Gevran said firmly. "Let them see that vulnerability isn't weakness. It's proof we're human. And that we're not afraid."

Rhea smiled faintly. "You're such a pain, you know that?"

Gevran gave a tired smirk. "You'll miss me when I'm gone."

Kasang's voice suddenly rang from the side—he'd walked in unnoticed with Kaeyan.

"You're not going anywhere, Hyung," he said. "Because we've got your back now."

Kaeyan nodded and lifted a tablet. "And we brought something. Jae-rin decrypted the metadata from the last cyberattack. You were right—it wasn't students."

He tapped the screen, revealing a profile.

"The source is from a media company owned by Min Hyuk's uncle."

Silence fell.

Rhea stood slowly. "Then it's not just school politics anymore."

Gevran looked at the team.

> "Then let's raise the stakes."

---

The Next Morning – Daehan Plaza

A crowd gathered as Gevran stepped up to the podium, backed by his entire student council. Press, students, and even some parents watched curiously.

"We've been under attack," Gevran began. "Not by rivals, not by healthy debate—but by lies designed to silence our voices."

He held up a report file.

"This is evidence of deliberate manipulation by external parties. And today, I say this: we will not be quiet."

The crowd murmured.

He looked into the cameras.

> "Daehan was built to shape the future. Not to protect the past's corruption. And the future has arrived."

---

Final Scene – Rooftop, Sunset

Gevran stood on the rooftop, watching the students below begin to murmur, record, post, and react.

Jimin walked up beside him. "That speech went viral in under an hour. It's everywhere now. Even alumni groups are reposting it."

Kaeyan arrived with a grin. "You just shook the system, Hyung."

And from the shadows, someone else watched through binoculars from a nearby tower.

A female voice on the comm said:

> "He's getting harder to control."

A man replied coldly:

> "Then we release the next phase. Project Zero Collapse."

---

End of Chapter 27

> And so the light grew brighter, even as darker plans formed behind smiling masks.

But Gevran had already made his choice:

To burn like a star… even if it meant starting a fire.
