Break The Silence

Chapter 12: Chapter 12

"Anyway, I decided to share some food with you." Taehyung said, after taking a second of break. He pulled a box closer to him, and opened the lid of Kimchi stew.

"It's still hot." Taehyung said, slurping a small amount of soup with spoon.

Jimin didn't react, although his numb gaze now shifted on the cold floor. No any hand movements, not even a blink of an eye. His silence seemed to mock Taehyung's helplessness.

Taehyung felt frustrated, patient like Jimin always tested doctor's patience level, without even being aware of it. To reach to the breaking point, Taehyung required to serve something unexpected. Perhaps a reminder from the past, a childhood memory, or any object that reminded him to good old days.

But Taehyung doubted that Jimin had any good childhood memories that could give him hope. Jimin had no one to wait for him, no one he could rely on, and no one who would show him trust or loyalty.

Taehyung wanted to be that person, whom Jimin could rely. He desperately wanted to pulled Jimin out of the darkness that swallowed his last ten years. He held his tears, cleared his throat and forced a smile on his face.

"This kimchi stew, taste so good. Why don't you taste it?" Taehyung said, rising up from his chair, he stepped closer to Jimin and extended the spoon closer to his mouth. His face contorted with the hope, his heart begging for reaction."Please take this...Jimin... Please look at me." Taehyung pleaded in his heart.

Jimin stared at the spoon, his cold eyes suddenly filled with confusion. Many doctors had tried to approached him, but they always maintained a distance from him. Taehyung was different, he stood right in front of Jimin, and offering a food.

For a moment, Jimin didn't move, like he was deciding if the food or Taehyung deserved his attention. Then, slowly, he raised his gaze up to Taehyung's face, the aroma of hot kimchi stew blending in the air, and Jimin kept staring at Taehyung. His eyes widened, after a long time he felt like he was a human too.

Taehyung's heart raced when Jimin finally looked at him, tears he tried to hold back, traced the way down to his cheeks. Jimin's cold and empty eyes now filled with something, uncertainty, amusement, emotions that Taehyung required at this most fragile moment.

"Try it...it's so good." Taehyung said in a gentle voice.

Jimin's gaze fixed at Taehyung constantly, he remembered him now. The doctor who visited him when he was admitted in the emergency room, the same doctor who allowed him to hold his hand last week. That familiarity, Jimin felt again, he hesitantly raised his hand, for a moment Jimin felt afraid, but he still dared to take his palm closer to Taehyung's mouth.

Taehyung's hand trembled, he quickly put the spoon back on the table and sat over his knees. He endearingly grabbed Jimin's hand with his both hands and blew the air, repeated the sweet gesture again and again, then Taehyung squeezed his hands in his own hands.

A light gentle smile appeared on his face."I came to bring you out." Taehyung said, his voice trembled a bit "I promise you Jimin I would never leave you alone." He said.

Jimin kept staring Taehyung like an innocent child, unknown to the reason why Taehyung seemed so emotionally attached with him? Why he had weird familiarity? He just gazing at Taehyung.

Taehyung realized he had become more emotional than he should have, but he couldn't ignore the sense of victory. Gently, he touched Jimin's hand, his eyes catching a glimpse of Jimin's wrist. The scars had faded, but they stirred a question in Taehyung's mind.

All the doctors and staff members, informed Taehyung about Jimin's attempt to kill himself. Yet, according to the information Taehyung gathered about Jimin, he hadn't participate in any activity since last three years.

"How did this happen? How can even I ignore this detail.?" Taehyung thought. But it was a crucial moment, Jimin had finally reacted and it was a sign that he wanted to rely on someone.

Just as Taehyung was about to say something else, the door opened abruptly. Mr. Kwon walked in. Taehyung's expression darkened at the sight of him.

Mr. Kwon glanced at Taehyung and Jimin with a neutral, almost uninterested gaze. "Time to wrap up the session," he said, his voice lacking any warmth.

Taehyung's heart sank at the interruption. He forced himself to let go of Jimin's hand and looked up at Mr. Kwon with a mix of resentment. "Jimin next time when we meet, we can talk about anything you want." He said, gently letting Jimin's hand go.

Mr. Kwon took Jimin's hand and motioned for him to stand. Jimin lowered his gaze back to the floor as he quietly got up to leave.

Taehyung's heart ached as he watched Jimin walk away, back to his lonely, isolated world. Still, he felt a spark of determination. The scars on Jimin's wrist had raised questions in his mind, questions that might lead him to uncover the truth and find a way to help Jimin.
