Breaking free from my role as a side character

Chapter 11: Love like that and love like this

*SARUYAMA KENICHI POV*

I was currently in the kitchen of a girl I didn't know, making her soup. I looked over to the couch in the living room to see a young beautiful girl laying on the couch.

She had dark brown hair cut at her shoulders and eyes of the same color.

She was Kato Megumi. Kato is actually a heroine from a series called 'How to raise a boring Girlfriend' with her being the main reason for the title.

In the series she was somewhat of a bland choice compared to the other heroines.

While the others had unique, colorful personalities and hair, Kato was more bland. Though that was on purpose. She was the normal person compared to other straight out of anime characters so for the anime obsessed Otaku of a main character she was the best choice.

She was however beautiful, I can tell even when she looks disheveled from her sickness her beauty still persists.

"Soup~" Kato moaned heavily, her raspy voice demanding soup.

I Should get back to the soup.

*KATO MEGUMI POV*

My head hurt, I could barely think, it felt like my entire body was on fire, but at the same time cold.

I rolled over on the couch. Why was I down here again? Did my parents come home? No. They're at work. They always are.

I can't remember the last time I was sick and someone stayed home to care for me. I think I was six, so a little less than 10 years ago.

Someone approached me from the kitchen, I couldn't make out their figure, my eyes were blurry from the sickness. I could make out a male shadow.

"Dad?" I weakly asked. A chuckle escaped the lips of the figure.and he spoke

"No, I am a stranger, who you made, make you food." He held up a bowl in his hands. A smell entered my one open nostril and I could make out the calming scent of soup.

"Ah," I opened my mouth, as my stomach growled.

"You want me to feed you?"

"Food~" I demanded sustenance as I leaned toward the bowl.

*SARUYAMA KENICHI POV*

Kato opened her mouth, a sweet moan escaped from her lips as she leaned closer to the bowl of chicken soup.

"Food~" I sighed and grabbed the spoon, filled it with soup and looked at the steam that came off the hot soup. Gently blowing on the soup to cool it off I then guided it toward her mouth.

"Mmm~" She gulped down the soup and continued to do so until the entire bowl was empty.

Food you have made has been eaten and enjoyed by a heroine. You have unlocked COOKING as a skill.

"Huh?"

***

*KATO MEGUMI POV*

I'm full, my stomach is full. I have never tasted soup as good as that before. My dad can't cook that well, and my mom would probably find a way to burn it. So who made me the soup?

"Ugh," My head hurts too much to think. I laid down my head on the couch and then fell asleep. It's weird I don't remember our couch feeling this great.

*SARUYAMA KENICHI POV*

She's asleep on my lap. I don't know what to do. What if her parents come home and find me, a person who they've never met before in the living room with their daughter unconscious. They can only think bad things right? I need to get out of here, but how?

=====================================================================

You have managed to make a good impression on KATO MEGUMI you have gained the STEALTH skill

=====================================================================

Well that certainly might be helpful.

*KATO MEGUMI POV*

When I was young I once asked my mom, "why do you and dad sleep in separate rooms?" She turned to me her brown eyes hung heavy in the shadows cast by her emotions.

"Because it's where he belongs." She smiled without her eyes and walked out the front door heading off to work in the rain.

I later asked my dad the same question his response was, "Because your mother loves me." I remember thinking,

'If this is love I don't want love like that.'

But what do I want? My parents barely interact i can't remember the last time they sat at the same dinner table. I want a love that doesn't fade with time. I want to come home and be greeted by someone who loves me. They hold me in their arms and take me up to our room. Where were together and we love each other. I want them to cuddle me when we sleep, I want them to hold back my hair when I'm sick, I want them to make me laugh when I wanna cry, I want someone to love me.
