Breaking Free, Loving Again -The Flash Marriage with Mr. CEO

Chapter 625: How about you let me play my role while you play yours?

Arwen knew Aiden didn't like what she did, but she didn't stop to explain it to him there. She instead led him to their room.

Once they were inside, she closed the door after them and turned to face him … finally.

He didn't speak, but his eyes did. They look disappointed … not at her, but at himself. Like he had done something to let himself down.

She took a step toward him, reaching forward to hold his hand and with another cup up his cheek. "You are upset?" she asked softly, but sombrely. Her intention was never to upset him.

Aiden didn't answer her. Instead, he asked, "Why?"

She blinked, for an instance, not understanding what he was meaning to ask. "Why, what, husband? Is it about what I said back there in the dining room?"

"Why did you let her stay?" he asked, clearer this time. "You didn't like her presence around."

Of course, she didn't.

She has made it obvious from the very first second, and she never thought of denying it. Not even when she would be seen as petty.

But that doesn't mean she doesn't understand the things. She does, and that's the reason she made that decision earlier, going against her own wishes.

Taking a deep breath, she said, "Because that was the right thing to do, husband. Letting her stay here was the right thing to do, especially when she reminded you of what you owe her."

Aiden's brows knitted together. "That's something I owe her, Moon. You aren't bound to comply with her."

He had made that clear even before. If she had to comply with another's requests, putting herself in a situation that's not comfortable, then he would be failing as a husband.

"I am bound to it as well," Arwen replied. And when his gaze stared at her, she nodded to him, affirming, "I am bound to it because I am your wife. I am bound to every promise you have given to me or others. Every favour or kindness you owe others —I am bound to all … willingly."

Aiden wanted to deny, but she shook her head at him. "You can't deny me from it, Aiden. You can't —the same way, I can't deny you. This was never a one-way sharing. We share an equal relationship —where we both share each other's happiness, glories, sorrows … everything."

"So, if you deny me of one thing, I would have to reject the rest others as well. And I think …" She paused before tipping on her toes a little to press a kiss over his lips, "you want me to put that distance between us."

Aiden watched her. Although she put it like that, he wasn't convinced.

And Arwen read that clearly on his expression. Sighing, she tugged on his arm and led him to their bed. "Come on, it's just a matter of a few weeks. She would be gone after that. Didn't she say that already?"

He frowned, not quite sure of that. "Her visit isn't as simple as it looks," he said, and she turned to look at him.

Of course.

No one knows that better than her. After all, Selene hadn't hidden her intentions from her.

But who said she would let her succeed?

Putting a smile, she shook her head, and then said, "Let it not be simple. The difficulty would be on her side. I just want to know what exactly it is that you owe her."

She didn't know the details, but as far as she could guess from their conversation earlier, it seemed a life-saving grace of no other but his mother.

She had seen Ryan paying off that debt. Although she didn't favour it, she couldn't deny it as either.

"Is it a favour that could make you accept her … like force you to marry her or something that sort of?" She just wanted to be first be clear of the scenario. At no cost, she could accept the worst. And the only way she would be able to prevent it was by knowing how strong its possibility was.

Aiden paused at her question for a second before his lips pressed in a thin line. He raised his hand and flicked it on her forehead gently. "What are you even thinking?"

Her brows wrinkled, and she moved her fingers to caress her forehead. "I am not yet thinking. I am just asking you first. After knowing the possibility, I will think, of course."

"There is no need as such," Aiden shook his head at her thoughts. "Because there is no such possibility. My mother had blood cancer, and Selene helped during the blood transfusion since she was the only match."

He explained, continuing. "I do owe her for that, but committing myself to her never falls into that option. Over the years, I have helped her a lot already —not just her but also her family in business. And I might keep helping them in the future, but that's all."

Arwen's heart eased when she heard him. She couldn't help but feel charmed by his such decisive attitude.

While people struggle thinking of a way to pay off people's kindness, he seemed to have already kept it simple. As if from the very beginning, he knew which lane he would be walking on in the future and which he would never choose.

She couldn't help but smile at that.

Sitting at the edge of the bed, she said, "Then that's good. I don't have to think about anything, then. Having a husband who knows how and when to draw the line is enough." She stared up at him, arching a brow. "Don't you think?"

Aiden watched her before moving his knuckle to give a long teasing stroke over her nose. "I think having a wife who understands and believes is better."

She looked at him as if considering his words before she nodded. "That's true as well. Then how about you let me play my role while you play yours, without caring about anything else?"
