Breaking Up with the #1 S-Class

Chapter 1 - Breakup

S-Class Hunter Yoo Eun-ha.

People think she appeared like a comet, a genius hunter, but in truth, she had been stuck as an F-Class hunter for quite a long time.

It’s just that nobody paid attention to her because she hadn’t awakened for several years.

Meanwhile, I was a fairly successful A-Class hunter at the time.

Perhaps that’s why?

When an A-Class hunter like me said I was dating someone like her, everyone around me tried to dissuade me. They said why would a guy like you want to date a girl like that.

But in the end, if I liked her, that’s all that mattered, right?

I didn’t need to listen to what others had to say about my love life.

I liked her regardless of her rank. She liked me too.

So she and I started dating, and back then, I think both Yoo Eun-ha and I loved each other happily.

But that love didn’t last long.

The reason was Yoo Eun-ha’s late awakening.

One day, she finally awakened, and awakened to no less than S-Rank.

Late hunter rank awakening—everyone started to see her differently and gave her the treatment she deserved, and I also congratulated Yoo Eun-ha on her belated success.

Seeing her, who always had low self-esteem, achieve success as an S-Rank, I was so happy to witness it. It seemed like we would be much happier than before.

However, that was far from happiness.

Yoo Eun-ha’s S-Rank awakening was a seed of misfortune for me.

After Yoo Eun-ha awakened as an S-Rank, she changed rapidly.

Yoo Eun-ha became extremely arrogant and prideful.

—  —  —

My girlfriend, Yoo Eun-ha.

Currently, as an S-Rank, she’s frequently called out by the Hunter Association.

So I understand to some extent why she’s busy.

And because of that, I couldn’t help but feel a bit hurt.

Since Yoo Eun-ha awakened as an S-Rank, we couldn’t even enjoy dates anymore.

It was so unfortunate that I couldn’t even remember when our last proper date was.

But still, today I finally managed to set up a date with Yoo Eun-ha.

Eun-ha contacted me first saying she wanted to meet, and I came fully prepared for our long-awaited date.

What should we eat?

What movie should we watch?

What gift should I give her?

I made all these thorough preparations.

But those thorough preparations became completely useless.

The reason she wanted to meet me wasn’t for a date.

The reason she wanted to meet…

It was to break up.

I heard shocking words from her mouth.

“You ignored all my requests to meet saying you were busy… and now that we’re finally meeting, what are you saying?”

“Didn’t you hear me? I said let’s break up.”

Words announcing the end of a relationship. ‘Let’s break up’—those words struck my ears.

I was completely shocked. For Yoo Eun-ha to say such things to me, it was too shocking.

“Are you serious?”

“Yeah.”

“… What exactly is the reason?”

But, as shocking as it was, now I was more than anything curious.

I had no idea.

I didn’t know why Yoo Eun-ha was saying this to me.

Usually, when someone says they want to break up, you can think of something that might have caused it, but our relationship was quite good.

We hadn’t fought or anything like that.

So this situation didn’t make sense to me.

“Eun-ha. Is there something I didn’t do for you?”

Also, if you asked if there was something I didn’t do for Yoo Eun-ha, that wasn’t the case either.

I was very devoted to Yoo Eun-ha.

I accommodated everything for Yoo Eun-ha.

Anyone could see I was truly a devoted boyfriend.

I quit my hunter job to become her manager.

I carefully attended to every detail, from her diet to her schedule.

I always adjusted my schedule around Yoo Eun-ha’s.

People around me sometimes called me a servant treating a princess, but each time, I worked even harder at being her servant.

Yoo Eun-ha isn’t stupid either.

Yoo Eun-ha knew and acknowledged my abilities.

So why would she dump someone like me? For what reason?

In this absurd situation, I desperately asked Yoo Eun-ha.

“Eun-ha. Why are you doing this? Did I do something to upset you? You should at least give me an explanation that makes sense.”

“No, there’s nothing. I felt very loved during the time we dated.”

“Then what exactly is the reason?”

“I’ll be straightforward. I’m too good for you.”

And Yoo Eun-ha answered calmly.

“W-What?”

“I’m currently ranked number one among hunters, and honestly, I’m pretty exceptional, right?”

This is the reason for breaking up?

I couldn’t help but doubt what I’d just heard.

“Plus, I’m going to challenge the Astaroth-class gate soon. If I clear it, I might become the world’s first L-Class hunter, beyond S-Class.”

I was making a dumbfounded expression at these ridiculous words, but Yoo Eun-ha continued the conversation as if she were saying something obvious, paying no attention to my reaction.

“Don’t you think it’s a waste for someone like that to date a retired A-Class like you? I’m sorry, but I’m a woman who’s too good for you. So I hope you understand.”

My heart couldn’t understand, but my head understood what Yoo Eun-ha was saying.

To summarize, she’s dumping me because she thinks she’s too exceptional. That’s what she meant.

“Hey… are you really serious?”

“Yeah.”

What on earth is Yoo Eun-ha saying right now?

Is she really saying such things sincerely?

Haha… it was absurd.

Truly absurd.

“I know I’m lacking. You’re S-Class and I’m now a retired A-Class.”

“So?”

“But I tried. I tried to be a man worthy of you.”

“Well, I know that.”

Compared to mine, Yoo Eun-ha’s love was too light.

I truly loved Yoo Eun-ha and still love her, but it seems Yoo Eun-ha doesn’t.

“But do we have to break up like this? You know how hard I worked to support you. And you’re throwing me away for such a reason?”

“… Well, I’ll be grateful for that.”

Breaking up with Yoo Eun-ha—since it couldn’t be anything but sad, I appealed to her emotions.

But, as expected, Yoo Eun-ha remained indifferent.

“But if you want, I can express that gratitude with money. Is this enough? Let’s call it even if I give you this.”

She calmly tapped on her phone and showed the money in her account.

A sum exceeding 10 billion won.

She showed it as if to say, ‘Take this and get lost.’

“That’s not the issue. I didn’t date you for money. I won’t take such money.”

But this attitude made me even angrier.

I had no intention of accepting money.

“You know. I dated you even when you were F-Class. And you know how hard I worked to support you.”

As I mentioned earlier, I’m someone who dated Yoo Eun-ha even when nobody acknowledged her.

The current Yoo Eun-ha has money, power, and fame—everything, but I loved her even when she had nothing.

How could she say such things to someone like me?

“Does it make sense to break up so simply? Shouldn’t you not do this to me? I really, because of you…”

We’ve been lovers for 7 years.

We’re lovers who cried, laughed, got annoyed, and loved together.

If we were going to break up so easily, why did we even date in the first place?

Can lovers really break up so easily?

No… did Yoo Eun-ha ever love me in the first place?

I felt like I was about to cry from the injustice.

Why am I in a situation where I’m hearing Yoo Eun-ha say she wants to break up?

I hoped that Yoo Eun-ha would understand just a little of how unfair this feels to me.

“Why are you being so pathetically clingy? Were you this kind of man?”

But to my emotional plea, Yoo Eun-ha just expressed annoyance.

“Haha… pathetically clingy…? Really… that’s too much. You bitch. That’s really too much. Fuck, that’s really too much.”

At this point, I had to acknowledge it.

Yoo Eun-ha’s heart had already left me.

That’s why she could say such things so casually.

I couldn’t help but curse.

In response to Yoo Eun-ha’s attitude, for the first time, I cursed at my Eun-ha.

“A bitch? I know I’m a bitch. But so what? I may be a bitch, but I’m also the most exceptional woman in the world.”

“…”

After calmly listening to my curses, Yoo Eun-ha slightly raised the corner of her mouth.

Her expression seemed to say, ‘What good will it do for someone like you to curse?’

“Haah…”

I could only sigh at such a Yoo Eun-ha, with nothing more to say.

Because whatever I said would be useless anyway.

“Are you done talking? Then I’ll be going now.”

Yoo Eun-ha waved at me and left.

“Oh, by the way, I’ll let the cursing slide once, but if you curse at me again, I’ll blow your head off, so be careful.”

And stopping midway, she turned to me once more and spoke, but it wasn’t an important statement.

“What a fucking bitch.”

“W-What?”

After cursing at her face, I also walked in the opposite direction.

And so, my long, long relationship came to an end.
