After consuming one billion wealth points, a series of system notifications appeared before Duke:
[Consuming one billion wealth points, congratulations to the Host for winning the S-level reward: the heroic Gale Swordsman!]
[Consuming one billion wealth points, congratulations to the Host for winning the A-level reward: the Giant's Belt!]
[Consuming one billion wealth points, congratulations to the Host for winning the S+ reward: the heroic and unparalleled Swordswoman!]
[Consuming one billion wealth points, congratulations to the Host for winning the A-level reward: Caulfield's War Hammer!]
[Consuming one billion wealth points, congratulations to the Host for winning the S-level reward: Ability Transfer!]
"Three heroes, three minor items, three full pieces of gear, and an ability?" Duke muttered, his excitement growing.
He then wondered, "Could teleportation be one of the prizes?" The thought made his eyes shine. If he could teleport, maybe it was possible to unlock the pre-revision version of a summoner's abilities. And if it included rebirth? That would mean gaining a whole new life.
Feeling a surge of anticipation, Duke got to work.
First, he combined the Giant's Belt with Gangplank's Thorn Vest to create anti-armor gear. Then he equipped Gangplank with an S-level reward: the Inspiring Armor.
Now armed with anti-armor, inspiring buffs, and two pieces of armor-piercing gear, Gangplank's attack power became a perfect balance of tankiness and destructive output. Duke felt confident that even though Gangplank wasn't at the max level yet, he didn't have to fear the other Four Emperors.
In the New World, no new Emperor could truly establish dominance without defeating numerous powerful pirates and clashing with the existing Four Emperors.
With Gangplank fully equipped, Duke turned his focus to himself. He combined Caulfield's War Hammer with the Hex Demon-Drinking Knife he already had, synthesizing the Bite of Motion (typically refers to a character's movement technique).
Now Duke had Fanatic Armor, Banshee's Protection, and the Bite of Motion. Under the protection of a team of powerful heroes, he doubted anyone could take him down in an instant. Especially since he still had teleportation.
Duke then distributed the rest of the equipment:
Tiamat, a smaller piece of gear, was paired with a Water Staff. After some thought, Duke equipped the Water Staff to Soraka, perfectly suited for her support role. As for Guinsoo's Furious Blade, after some hesitation, Duke decided to give it, along with Tiamat, to the peerless swordswoman Fiona.
Initially, Duke thought about keeping Guinsoo's Blade for himself. But after realizing that he didn't need to engage in direct combat, he decided it was better to strengthen his heroes so they could grow and dominate on the sea.
Once all the equipment was distributed, Duke turned his attention to the next major event, the real highlight!
Duke was overseeing a team of five powerful heroes: the demigod Soraka, the disciplined German steward Xin Zhao, the swift swordsman Yasuo, the peerless swordswoman Fiona, and the alchemist Singed, who Duke had been paying close attention to.
With Jace and Singed now working together, technology and hard work were merging, opening up new possibilities.
Singed's Profile:
Grade 1
Strength: B-
Physique: B
Agility: B
Spirit: B
Potential: S
Owned Equipment: None
Abilities: Poison Traces, Strong Glue, Crazy Potions, etc.
Overall Rating: B
Known as a madman from Zaun, Singed devoted his life to dangerous biochemical research. Poison and glue were only his small tools—what really set him apart was his creation of the Glimmer Potion, a substance capable of restoring injuries, enhancing physical abilities, unlocking hidden potential, and improving combat power based on dosage.
However, overuse of the potion could cause the user's body to distort and lose their sanity, pushing them toward total madness.
Duke pondered the possibilities:
"Technology has the power to change the world!"
"The side effects of Shimmer are troubling, but what if it could be perfected to become the ultimate human genetic enhancer?"
Duke couldn't help but wonder. While a perfect genetic enhancer was still far off, creating a new Zaun could be an exciting idea in the pirate world. He was also curious whether Singed's Shimmering Potion or Germa 66's blood factor cloning technology would prove to be more terrifying.
North Blue had been quiet for too long, and Duke sensed the need for a new, powerful force there. Plus, the arms business was proving to be quite profitable.
As Duke considered these things, five figures materialized before him.
Soraka, with her small upright horns and lilac-colored skin, radiated a sense of compassion and depth. Holding her Star and Moon Scepter, she bowed gently to Duke and said softly:
"As long as I'm alive, no one will suffer."
Duke nodded seriously, deeply respecting her. Soraka had come to the mortal world with the sole purpose of relieving pain and suffering.
"The pain in this world needs you to save it," Duke responded.
He held great respect for any being devoted to a higher cause. After all, not all gods would willingly give up their immortality and descend into the mortal realm to save those fragile humans—whom many gods viewed as dirty and insignificant.
"Only the innocent can sleep peacefully."
"Can I sleep peacefully in this world?"
The swift swordsman Yasuo bowed his head to Duke before leaning silently against a pillar. His face was filled with melancholy.
Yasuo had grown weary of everything he had endured in life.
"In this new world, you will live a completely different life!"
"Do you want to give it a try?"
Duke smiled gently.
Though all the heroes swore eternal loyalty to Duke when summoned, it didn't mean they were devoid of their own personalities and desires. They weren't mere lifeless game characters—they were real, living beings with thoughts and emotions.
"No one can break through my gun range!"
Xin Zhao, the German general manager, knelt on one knee and pledged his loyalty to Duke.
"Then my safety is in your hands."
Duke replied in a deep voice, then General Manager Xin Zhao silently rose and stood behind him, solid and unyielding, like an unbreakable statue.
"I never back down!"
"Laurent's name will be mine to carry, and it will glorify the world!"
Fiona, the Peerless Swordswoman, spoke with pride. Her eyes were sharp and fierce.
She was the best swordswoman in the world, and no matter what opponent she faced, she would never back down. She would always fight to protect the honor of the Laurent family, and she would never lose.
"Of course, I believe your name, Laurent, will shine brightly in this world."
"It may not be perfect..."
"But it will definitely be the best!"
Singed, the mad alchemist, shook a tube of glowing reagent in his hand, his enthusiasm evident. He was full of hope for his work.
In this world, Hex Technology wasn't the only way to change the future. His biochemical research had the potential to transform everything.
Duke strongly agreed with him.
"Technology is the primary productive force."
But before technology could be fully realized, Duke suddenly realized...
He seemed to have run out of money again.
Thankfully, another great fortune was just around the corner!
In the first half of the Grand Line, Scarlet Baron Vladimir, known for killing countless pirates, looting several Marine bases, and earning the title Blood Demon, had just begun to dock at the Thriller Bark.
In Gekko Moria's hands was an armband leading directly to Captain John's treasure.
