Building a World Class Empire in another World

Chapter 17: Goblins and Sorcerers

Since he already laid the plan in his mind, Aric called out to Ariel, "Ariel, please come." She came to him immediately he called.

"Uhm, I was thinking of building a wall around, that way we would be able to know our boundaries and also protect ourselves from the outside.

I have already worked on how the wall will be, but I need your help to start building it up," Aric said.

"Okay, so what do you want me to do first?" she asked.

"Alright, we will firstly need to mark out where the wall will be, in a square, using the stream as the center. I'll mark them out, and then you'll start digging from one marked point to the next one," Aric explained.

"How would I make it straight? I might miss it along the way," she raised a valid issue for them to tackle.

"Hmm, I hadn't thought of that, but there's a solution for that, and that's a string, as well as some sticks. Every few feet I take from the first mark, I'll plant a stick and tie the string around it.

I'll keep going like that until I have used the string to mark up the entire area that we will dig," Aric explained.

"Alright, I understand. So do we start now?" she asked.

"No, not yet. I have to make breakfast for us. You haven't eaten, right?" he said. He didn't want her working on an empty stomach, so he immediately got to work, not even giving her a chance to say anything.

He made the fire and then started scrolling the system for something quick and easy. Then he came across a pancake recipe.

He hadn't baked anything since they got here, so he didn't have any ingredients for it. He had to purchase everything afresh from the system.

The recipe and the ingredients came up to 300 gold in total. He didn't flinch at the price and just paid for everything.

He got everything he needed and immediately started preparing to make it. He followed the recipe, and in less than an hour, the smell of beautifully made pancakes filled the air.

Ariel could not resist the sweet smell. She rushed over to Aric to see what he had made that caused this sort of wonderful smell.

Aric served it up for her, giving her a stack of pancakes. He was about to fetch a wooden fork, but she had already picked one up with her fingers and started eating it.

To not make her look weird, he smiled and did the same. They ate together with smiles, but every time he thought about the fact that they kissed, his face went bright red.

After eating, Aric cleaned up everything. It was now time for them to get to work. He pulled up the system shop again and started looking for some good hoes that would do the job for digging.

He found a normal hoe. There were no special blades like the axes and no special design, just a wooden handle and the metal head.

He bought two of them and then a bundle of string. After getting everything, he handed one of the hoes to Ariel.

"Alright, let's get to work," he said. But before he moved from there, two of the lesser spirits returned in a hurry. They circled around Aric while talking.

"You have to come. Humans are in the forest," one of the lesser spirits said.

"Yes, they are attacking a goblin tribe," the second spirit said.

"The goblin tribe kidnapped one of the human women. They took her away," the first spirit said.

"The humans came to take her back," the second spirit said.

Aric became intrigued by this. He wanted to go and see what was happening.

"Ariel, why don't we leave the wall for later? The spirits say there is a group of humans fighting goblins because the goblins kidnapped one of the humans," Aric told her the situation.

"Goblins. They are vile creatures, smart and tricky," Ariel said.

"But why would they kidnap a human?" Aric asked. He dropped his hoe and went to his box, pulling out his leather armor.

"Sometimes as a toy, sometimes to procreate. They have a low female population, mostly because the female goblins are hunted by humans a lot. Their body parts are used a lot by sorcerers to make potions," Ariel said. She dropped her hoe and picked up her bow. She hung it and was ready to go.

"That sounds barbaric. Why would they do something like that? There have to be other ways to get what you want," Aric said.

"Sigh, sorcerers have morally grey consciences. They do things under the guise that it's for the betterment of humanity or something like that.

They see goblins and other lesser races as nothing but materials for their use. After many years of female goblins being hunted, I think the world just shifted and decided to stop producing more females, making their number very low," she explained.

Aric grabbed his sword and hung it on his waist. "Alright, let's go," he said. The two spirits eagerly led the way. Aric and Ariel followed behind.

They started going deeper into the forest. This was the first time for Aric, as he had been close to that stream ever since he got here.

He didn't have the slightest idea of what was in this forest and other stuff.

After a while of running, they started hearing the sounds of swords, magical explosions, and voices.

"We should climb a tree and watch what is going on," Ariel suggested. Aric agreed to that, and they both climbed up a tree.
