Chapter 31: Time Flies

A day after Natasha and Gasco had fully adapted to their new abilities, they set off on a flight to Los Angeles.

After clearing a series of obstacles, the herbal medicine suppliers who had previously refused to cooperate with the company were now willing to sign contracts.

During this period, Natasha's abilities were highly praised by Gasco, who commented that if she hadn't activated "bullet time," she would have been overwhelmed.

A week later, the supply of raw materials was steady, and production of the beauty serum and special gastric medicine surged, allowing both products to be sold internationally.

Within just a few days, these products replaced older offerings, quickly becoming the new must-have items—every customer who used them experienced positive results.

A month later, the World Health Organization issued a report that confirmed the special gastric drug from Vought Company had a remarkable effect in alleviating gastric cancer symptoms, even showing some potential for eradicating the disease entirely.

The report also revealed that the drug was highly effective against other stomach-related illnesses. Two courses of the treatment were sufficient to cure many conditions, and even healthy individuals could benefit from taking a daily tablet to maintain their stomach health and prevent disease.

When the news broke, the entire world erupted with excitement, especially gastric cancer patients who saw a glimmer of hope for the first time in years.

As a result, the stock price of Vought Company soared, much to the frustration of those who had tried to undermine it—yet they were powerless to act.

Meanwhile, the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were located by the intelligence team, and were quickly brought back to the headquarters.

Two months later, Vought Corporation's market value had surpassed $60 billion, creating the fastest asset growth rate ever seen—only Stark Industries had once outpaced it.

As a rising corporate giant, Kyle understood the importance of maintaining good relations with others and refrained from making overly aggressive decisions. By intentionally lowering the output, he gave competitors the chance to survive, although the company's profits were much lower than before.

Now, time fast-forwards to the present.

The interior of Vought Corporation had been completely overhauled, with the outdated equipment replaced by cutting-edge technology. The entire office layout was revamped to match the company's growing stature.

In addition, thanks to careful planning by the construction team and the Red Queen, an underground protective umbrella had been completed, designed as a reserve base for military operations.

Kyle also recognized the need for improvement in weapon technology. To address this, he founded a new laboratory called "Cutting-Edge Technology."

Staffed by high-IQ talent from around the globe—many of whom held doctoral degrees and extensive work experience—the lab represented a true leap forward. In an era where scientific research budgets were shrinking in favor of weapons manufacturing, Kyle had managed to recruit dozens of exceptional minds by offering competitive pay. Many of them had come with their own teams, desperate for the opportunity after struggling to get funding from their home countries.

One of the scientists had tried to secure funding for a spallation neutron source multi-physics spectrometer but was rejected after two years of six audits.

The United States had Stark Industries, which continuously churned out advanced weaponry, allowing them to reduce research budgets. No other nation dared to compete with Stark's level of resources, and Kyle was able to take full advantage of the situation.

At 8 a.m., the alarm clock began to blare. A hand emerged from the covers, groggily searching for the device, but it couldn't find it.

"Red Queen, is that you again?"

Kyle's head popped out from the blanket as he muttered to himself. He never kept an alarm clock by his bedside.

The sound he heard was entirely simulated by the Red Queen, helping him escape the powerful "seal" of his blanket—an ongoing joke he had with himself.

"Boss, this is the 28th time you've been late this month."

There was a hint of frustration in the Red Queen's tone. In the past 30 days, Kyle had only managed to arrive at the company on time twice. The other 28 days were marked by various delays, with the Red Queen being held accountable by Gasco for his tardiness.

"I know, I know, I'll be right there."

Kyle responded with irritation as he scrambled to put on his clothes, still harboring a grudge against his alarm clock.

As Vought Company's status had risen, Kyle no longer had the luxury of traveling freely. If he was recognized on the street, he was quickly surrounded by fans and admirers, and escaping was nearly impossible.

"Boss, this is Tony Stark's daily action plan you asked for. Most of it seems to be about picking up women. He really does live up to his reputation as a playboy."

As Kyle entered the dining room, Natasha, dressed in a burgundy suit, was sitting at the table, munching on a sandwich.

Seeing Kyle, she pushed a stack of documents across the table. Her tone mixed amusement with mild exasperation.

"Let me see... Hmm... this guy really has no regard for his health. He needs to be careful not to drop dead any minute."

At first, Kyle thought it was nothing. After all, Tony Stark's reputation as a playboy was well-known, and his casual relationships with women were hardly surprising.

However, when Kyle read through the documents, he was taken aback. According to Natasha's investigation, Stark's routine was excessive. In the mornings, he typically grabbed an American burger before heading to various parties. In the evenings, he often brought two or three women back to his villa—an arrangement that was a consistent, almost daily occurrence.

Considering the number of women Stark had been photographed with over the years, Kyle wasn't entirely shocked, but still couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

"I'd advise you not to pay too much attention to him. Stark has a record with S.H.I.E.L.D., so I'll leave it at that."

Natasha finished her sandwich and offered a warning before picking up her bag and heading out to the company.

Over the months, Natasha had settled into her new life with Vought. She appreciated the quiet and stability, no longer living in constant fear of danger.

As for Nick Fury, Natasha hadn't been in contact with him for a while, and it seemed he hadn't attempted to reach her either.

However, there was one person on her mind—her old comrade, Clint Barton (Hawkeye), who was still locked up in the protective umbrella. She suspected he was bored out of his mind, left to train alone in a small room.

"This guy… looks like he's getting used to it," Kyle observed with a smile, watching Natasha leave.

It appeared that his test had been successful. In an effort to gauge Natasha's loyalty, Kyle had restored all of her previous privileges. He also shared a few minor, but significant, core secrets of Vought Company with her and set the Red Queen to monitor her.

As a seasoned agent, Natasha could have easily leaked information if she chose to. However, after a month of surveillance by the Red Queen, Kyle concluded that Natasha had never once considered betraying him.
