Campione Scumbag in Mash-up Anime

Chapter 193: Trapped in the Ravine

The wreckage of the bus lay at the bottom of the ravine, upside down with its wheels pointing toward the sky. Its metal frame was twisted in several places. Shattered window glass was scattered everywhere, and thin smoke still rose from the destroyed engine.

The students' personal belongings—torn backpacks, open bento boxes with their contents spilled, scattered books—mixed with fragments of metal and plastic, creating a scene of total devastation.

*BANG!*

The bus's entrance door, now at the top due to its inverted position, suddenly shot forward with a loud crash.

Ren had kicked it hard, sending it flying far away, disappearing among the trees.

With steady steps, Ren emerged from the hole where the door had been, carrying the still-unconscious Umi in a princess carry. He stepped through the debris, his eyes scanning the surroundings.

"Where are we?"

The bus wreckage lay tilted, dangerously close to a steep, rocky cliff wall. Around them, tall trees loomed, their leaves still lush green under the late afternoon sunlight. A dense forest surrounded them on all sides, creating an isolated and eerie silence.

Ren looked up, his Heavenly Eye easily piercing through the thick foliage and the looming cliff's darkness. He observed the point where the bus had plummeted, noting the tire marks that ended abruptly at the cliff's edge, and estimated the ravine's depth.

"This ravine is at least 30 meters deep. Pretty lucky no one died in this accident."

With a gentle motion, Ren placed Umi on flat ground, leaning her against a sturdy tree.

"First, evacuate everyone."

Ren stepped back into the crumpled bus wreckage. Amid the chaotic debris, he began searching for the unconscious club members and teachers one by one.

He found Coach Takigawa Masaki pinned under the destroyed steering wheel. With a single motion, Ren lifted the heavy metal piece as if it weighed nothing, then carefully pulled Coach Takigawa's body free.

"Ugh…"

Coach Takigawa groaned faintly, his head bleeding, his left arm broken at an odd angle. Ren lifted him effortlessly and carried him out of the bus, placing him a few meters from Umi.

Next, he found Mafuyu trapped between piled-up seats. Her clothes were torn, her face bruised. Ren gently freed her from the wreckage, lifting her carefully to avoid worsening her injuries, and placed her near Coach Takigawa.

Then, Ren located Ryohei, slumped near the detached door, his leg twisted at a worrying angle. Ren quickly checked for spinal injuries, confirmed none, and lifted him with ease, carrying him outside.

One by one, Ren pulled out the remaining club members: Minato, pinned under collapsed seats; Seiya, thrown from the bus and lying motionless; and Nanao, Rika, and Yuuna, injured and unconscious amid the debris.

Ren worked with remarkable efficiency, wasting no time.

In short order, all nine Archery Club members, Coach Takigawa, and Mafuyu were successfully evacuated from the wreckage. They lay on the ground, unconscious, with visible injuries, but at least they were all alive.

"…"

Ren stood among them, observing his work. Though he didn't care about their lives, he had fulfilled his duty, ensuring their survival from this fatal accident.

"Next, call for help."

Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out his phone. The screen lit up, intact without a single crack.

"Thank goodness my phone's fine. There's a lot of valuable stuff on here…"

"Itsuki's memories of eating my banana, Ai's provocative dance in a Middle Eastern costume, Masha's 'drunk' passionate expression at the amusement park, Alya begging in Russian during her 'unboxing' on camera, and Ririka's 'harvesting' of her virginity… all stored here. It'd be a huge loss if this got damaged."

"To avoid losing all those files, I should probably back them up to the cloud."

He prepared to call emergency services or the lodge staff. But all Ren saw was an empty signal icon.

"Hm? No signal?"

"How remote is this place to have no signal at all?"

Ren realized the situation was worse than he'd thought.

"We're stuck at the bottom of a ravine, far from communication range. Night's coming soon, temperatures will drop, and there are a dozen severely injured people. Without medical help and evacuation, their conditions could deteriorate quickly."

"Man, I didn't expect to end up in a survival scenario like this. I've only seen this stuff in movies or games."

His tone was casual, without a hint of panic. Ren didn't take the situation seriously, unlike how an ordinary person would.

*WHOOSH!*

With a barely visible burst of energy, Ren leaped upward. His figure shot vertically, reaching a height of about 100 meters, surpassing the cliff where the bus had fallen. From that vantage point, he saw a vast, dark forest expanse and a highway in the distance.

As his body fell back down, following gravity, Ren analyzed the situation in his mind.

(No signal on the phone, and to make things worse, we're in the middle of a wilderness, at the bottom of a steep ravine, making climbing impossible for most people.)

(The nearest highway is about five kilometers away. But without knowing the exact direction, reaching it safely is unlikely. The risk of getting lost in this wilderness is far greater than finding the road.)

To avoid a significant impact or drawing unnecessary attention, Ren deftly grabbed onto rocky outcrops on the cliff wall, slowing his descent until he landed smoothly and silently near the bus wreckage.

"Whatever. Let's discuss this with everyone. Whether we wait for help or find a way out, as long as I'm here, no one's dying."

After a brief moment of thought, he decided not to overcomplicate the solution for now.

With his abilities far beyond human comprehension, this problem was trivial to him. However, Ren didn't want to carelessly reveal his superhuman powers.

Not because he wanted to live a low-profile life or anything like that. For him, it was more about believing not everyone deserved to know the truth about the world.

So, while waiting for the others to regain consciousness, Ren got to work. He stepped back into the wrecked bus, scanning the debris. Then, he began moving anything useful outside.

One by one, Ren brought out neatly folded tents, backpacks containing intact food and water supplies, blankets, a first aid kit, and other salvageable personal items.

He stacked everything in a relatively flat area, away from the smoking bus wreckage, ensuring it was safe and accessible once the survivors woke up.

The air was cooling, and Ren knew they'd need these supplies to survive until morning.

"Good thing it's summer, so the nights aren't too cold. If this were winter, they'd be dead before rescuers arrived."

"Oh, right, I should let Itsuki and the others know I'm okay so they don't worry."

Next, Ren used the Divine Authorities Book of Knowledge to summon a shikigami tasked with informing the women in his harem of his situation.
