Cannon fodder in the Interstellar

Chapter 86

After Li Qixing left, the greatly benefited Ruo Manni continued to practice in the telekinesis training hall. If it weren’t for the fact that she had reached the daily limit of six hours for training and was prohibited from continuing by the supervising instructors in the telekinesis training hall, she would have been reluctant to leave.

Since she was now under her master’s guidance, Ruo Manni didn’t need to spend any credits for her training in the telekinesis hall today. If it weren’t for the excessive consumption of her mental energy, she truly would have wanted to stay longer.

Ruo Manni glanced at the time; it was only four in the afternoon. The physical energy consumed by practicing telekinesis skills wasn’t too great, and she still had the energy for physical training. So, Ruo Manni decided to stick to her plan and hailed a hovercar to go to the martial arts training hall.

To her surprise, the martial arts training hall was a full five kilometers away from the telekinesis training hall. Since she had saved nine credits today, she generously hailed a hovercar to speed up her journey.

The martial arts training hall was very large, three times the size of the telekinesis training hall. Unlike the quietness of the telekinesis hall, this place was bustling with students.

As soon as Ruo Manni, a pretty junior, walked in, she immediately attracted a lot of attention from the boys. Even though she had no intention of being demure, the stares made her feel a bit uncomfortable. Fortunately, no one approached her immediately to strike up a conversation.

After providing her student ID number, she was promptly given special attention by the instructors there. Although Instructor Dudley was not present, the other instructors collected all of Ruo Manni’s data, sent it to Instructor Dudley via communication, and then provided her with targeted training methods.

Training in the increased gravity was incredibly intense. After seventy minutes, Ruo Manni began to feel her arms and legs getting heavy, almost unable to lift them.

However, regardless of the type of training, persistence is the most important thing. Only by working hard and persevering can one make rapid progress.

In the last ten minutes, Ruo Manni could only manage to walk slowly, step by step, in the gravity training room. When the two hours were up and the gravity was released, she collapsed onto the ground.

A female instructor walked in and asked with concern, “Ruo Manni, are you injured? Do you need any healing treatment?”

“No, I’m just exhausted,” Ruo Manni replied weakly.

“Then let me help you to a chair outside to rest for a while.”

“Thank you.”

After a minute or two, with the instructor’s help, Ruo Manni stood up and found that her legs were no longer as weak and soft as before.

Sitting on a resting chair, although the military students passing by looked at her intently, no one dared to disturb her. After sitting for more than ten minutes, Ruo Manni noticed that every student coming out of the gravity room was being assisted by an instructor.

The martial arts training hall was not only full of military students but also had many instructors and assistant trainers. In the ten minutes Ruo
Manni sat there, she saw six instructors.

All of these instructors were only level five warriors, while Instructor Dudley was level seven. Ruo Manni thought that probably no one in the entire Xuan Gu First Military Academy had a higher cultivation level than Instructor Dudley.

When Ruo Manni finally emerged from the gravity training hall, the sky outside had completely darkened.

Although she had trained all day, the intensity was still less than during her special training. After resting for more than ten minutes, she had recovered about one-third of her energy.

However, she still felt somewhat fatigued. Ruo Manni had plans to study that night and didn’t want to waste time sitting there.

Ruo Manni was reluctant to spend another credit on a flying car ride back. There were so many training halls available, and as long as she had credits, she could train there. It would be too wasteful to use her credits like that. But walking back to the dormitory was really far, with a distance of five kilometers.

Of course, as a pretty girl like her walking alone on campus, it was inevitable that some boys would approach her.

“Little junior, do you want a ride?” A senior stopped his flying car next to her.

Ruo Manni had a great memory and recognized this senior as Mills, the one who had shown her around yesterday.

“I don’t have many credits as a freshman,” Ruo Manni said, pointing to her light brain with a helpless expression.

“A ride doesn’t require any credits,” the senior said with a bit of amusement. “We were just as unlucky back in our day; twenty raw credits weren’t even enough for our training at first.”

Ruo Manni certainly wouldn’t be foolish enough to say, “Oh, you only have twenty raw credits? I have seventy!” or anything like that.

However, since Senior Mills was sincerely inviting her, and they weren’t complete strangers, Ruo Manni felt it would be too rude to refuse such a small favor. So she got into the flying car.

“Junior, you’re working really hard. You started training as soon as you arrived at school,” Senior Mills praised.

“I come from a third-tier fringe planet, and I’ve never seen training halls like this before. If I don’t seize the time to train, it would be a waste and a disservice to myself,” Ruo Manni replied with a smile. Sitting down like this, she suddenly realized how tired she was.

Senior Mills glanced at Ruo Manni and noticed her calm expression when she said that, showing no signs of feeling inferior because she came from a fringe planet.

“Not feeling inferior because you come from a fringe planet? Junior, this mindset is very good. You should always stay grounded like this. There are too many big shots among the freshmen this year,” the senior said appreciatively.

“Big shots?” Ruo Manni asked, wondering who he was referring to.

“Yeah, even though Xuan Gu hasn’t made any public announcements, anyone who’s a bit in the know around here knows that among the 960 freshmen, there’s a level-five psionic master and a level-five warrior. The graduating class of the 957th year didn’t even have such experts; how could they not be big shots?” the senior sighed.

Ruo Manni was stunned. She had just latched onto one big shot today, and now she realized that she had already made it onto the big shots’ roster herself. Why didn’t she know she was that capable?

“These two big shots are both very low-key. Before the admissions assessment for Xuan Gu, not many people knew about them. The level five warrior is said to be a son of a prominent family from the Imperial Capital Star, but the level five psychic master is quite shocking. It’s said that this girl not only lived on a fringe planet but is also an orphan…”

“How do you know that girl is from a fringe planet? Isn’t the information about freshmen locked? And isn’t there no information about her on the net?” Ruo Manni felt a little uneasy. Had her personal information been exposed?

“Junior, don’t you keep up with the news? The information about this genius girl was uncovered a month ago. The third-tier planet called Topaz Star has become quite famous among the people of the Empire. Unfortunately, that genius girl left the planet right after the assessment competition, and no media could find her. The media from the Imperial Capital even privately offered a reward; if anyone provides information about her, they could earn credit points,” Senior Mills said with some regret.

“If that girl is hiding so well, it means she doesn’t want to be in the spotlight. Why do those people still want to invade someone else’s privacy?” Ruo Manni said, feeling quite angry.

“It’s strange, right? People find it hard to believe that a fringe planet could produce such a genius, so they want to find her and see if there’s something more to it. Without seeing it with their own eyes, everyone feels it’s a bit unreal,” Senior Mills shrugged and said.
