One's treasure part 1

It's been 2 days since Dan Heng. March, and I were stuck in Boulder Town and Bronya and Seele have been going on dates for the past few days and told us not to worry since the wildfire chief is probably doing fine. And as I left the hotel that I was staying at I got a text message from a unknown number.

[Hello? Hello? Anyone? How do I use this thing... "Send all"? What's that supposed to mean...] The text read

[Who is this? And why do you have my number?] I texted back being confused

[What? Someone actually replied? Are you a real person or a bot? Anyhow, listen, I'm Julian, the Chief Intelligence Officer of The Moles. I need some extra help right now. If you are free, come find me at the entrance of the Great Mine!] the unknown number replied back who turned out to be Julian. As I had nothing else to do today I decided to see what was going on with Julian.

[Hey where are you going?] The confused March asked me.

[Apparently Julian, you know the kid from the moles, needs my help. Want to tag along?] I told her and she happily accepted my invitation since she was apparently bored.

[I wish something interesting would happen today... or the next few days.] March exhaustedly told me.

[I agree with you... it would be cool if we fought a giant robot for something.] I jokingly told her as we walked towards Julian.

[What do you need help with Julian?] I asked the worried kid

[We got trouble! The boss went to the Great Mine alone with her Diggertron! And she refused to let anyone go with her. I feel like she's doing something dangerous... You have to go check on her for us!] The worried kid told us

[Diggertron? What's that?] March asked the young boy

[Diggertron is Diggertron! As long as the boss has it with her, you can expect a good fight...] Julian told the both of us

[Why would a kid like her enter the mines?] I asked the upset boy

[Fersman is in the mines. It seems like the boss heard some bad news about him, then just ran in there. There's lots of bad guys in the mines. Miss Natasha said kids ain't allowed to go in! Go check on her for us now!] The boy answered but mentioned a unfamiliar name... could the person be Pitch-Dark Hook the Great's guardian

[Who is Fersman?] March asked the boy

 He's Hook's daddy, and he's like a daddy to everyone in The Moles! He's like... a great person!] Julian informed us

[Alright, kid I'll go help Pitch-Dark Hook the Great.] I told the worried Julian, as both me and March enter the mines which she told me that it's probably a bad idea to explore the mines without a guide since we never entered and or explored the Great Mines. But luckily for the both of us as we followed the mine cart tracks we found a vagrant camp and as we entered the camp both March and I saw that both Pitch-Dark Hook the Great and her father being attacked my some vagrants. Form what I've picked up from their conversation it was something about ores and a detector.

[Everyone, take it easy....] I told the vagrants.

[Yeah! We don't want a fight to happen.] March added on to my comment

[Ah, it's you! Come and help Hook!] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great asked the both of us

[Tsk, another punching bag? Fine by me! I'll kick all your butts!] One of the vagrants said to the March and I, as they took out their weapon and in which we did the same. And the both of us and Pitch-Dark Hook the Great with the Diggertron that we gave, easily beat them up.

[What a bunch of scumbags! Attacking someone who is defenseless and also a child] March said after the vagrants ran away after getting beaten up.

[Daddy, are you hurt?] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great concerningly asked her father in a brink of tears

[*coughing* ...Just a few scratches. How about you, Hook?] who I assume is Fersman told Pitch-Dark Hook the Great

[ Don't worry about me! I have Diggertron. No one can hurt me!] She replied back

[Good, that's good... And you two, young ladies, are you hurt? Thank you for your help...] The concerned man told us

[Nope! Not hurt at all!] I confidently told Fersman

[Yeah! Those people were too weak to hurt us!] March added on

[Ah, I remember... You are the outsiders Natasha mentioned before, right? Thank you for saving my life.] The old man asked us

[Yeah! It's us! And no problem.] March told Fersman

[Daddy, let's go to the old witch's clinic. You're seriously hurt!] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great said to the badly injured Fersman

[B-But... the vein detector that rapscallion was after- somebody already stole it from me. I need to keep searching, otherwise I might never see it again...] Fersman tried to reply as he was dragged away.

[w-wait I can he-.... never mind.] I tried to tell Pitch-Dark Hook the Great but she already left with her dad.

[Lets hurry to Natasha's clinic!] March says as she cutely grabbed my hand and dragged me... this is not a boring day after all. And as we rushed back to the clinic, the both of us heard Nat scolding the man.

[I've taken care of your wounds. I'm running short on medical supplies these days though, so behave yourselves and stay away from trouble, you hear me?] She told Fersman

[Don't pretend you didn't hear that, Hook, I'm talking to you!] She then proceeds to scold Pitch-Dark Hook the Great

[... Hook wasn't the one that caused trouble, It was those bad guys! We were just defending ourselves, ask Stelle and March] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great told Nat as she pointed to the both of us when we approached them.

[Yeah, the kid is not lying the both of them got attacked by vagrants] I told Nat as she sighed

[*sigh* so that's what happened, don't cause anymore trouble got it? I'm running low on supplies] Nat told all of us off.

[I could've just healed him...] I told Pitch-Dark Hook the Great.

[Wait! Then why didn't you heal daddy!] Hook asked me

[That was because you immediately took off when Stelle was about to mention that] March told Hook

[Thank you again... If it weren't for you and Doctor Natasha, Hook and I probably would've been in big trouble.] Fersman told both March and I

[What happened exactly?] Both me and March asked him

[*sigh* Well, a few days ago, I found a Geomarrow vein using a vein detector, and I sold this info to Antonia, a supervisor of the mining team. Then those vagrants heard about it and accused me of being a traitor... They believe that since I'm also a vagrant who came from another mine and ended up in here for a living, I should naturally be on their side. The mining team could not agree with that, of course. *sigh* I'm too old for this...] Fersman exhaustedly told us

[Daddy, are we short on money? Why did you do that] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great worryingly asked her father.

[My poor child... Daddy is old now. Who knows how long I can stay by your side? I have to start preparing for your future. People say I'm selfish, think I'm a traitor, but it doesn't matter to me. All you need to know is, when I'm gone, you will have the money to take care of yourself and survive on your own...] He told the young Pitch-Dark Hook the Great.

[Daddy...] She responded in a sad tone

[Forget about it. Since I've got the money from the mining team, I have nothing to complain about now. It's just a shame that I lost my vein detector... It was indeed a treasure.] The man added on to his previous statement

[someone stole it?] March asked the tired Fersman

[I guess so. It's an ancient relic that can detect Geomarrow veins. It's very rare- I haven't seen a second one in my life. I often carried it around looking for a new claim, I suppose some villains must have taken notice. ...Anyway, I guess I don't need the detector anymore. The less trouble the better, I shouldn't care who stole my device... *sigh* Whoever it was, I hope they get good use out of it...] The tired old man answered

??? Pitch-Dark Hook the Great seems to be giving me a look like: [I wanna talk to you outside the clinic, now!]... well whatever, let's go outside and hear what her plan is since it is pretty obvious that she wants to get the detector back. Oh and it seems that March has also noticed Pitch-Dark Hook the Great glare, and all three of us decided to leave the clinic.

[Are you trying to get that detector back?] I asked her outside of the clinic

[Yes! Are you going to help Hook?] The young girl asked the two of us

[Sure, why not... what about you March] I asked the pink haired girl

[Of course I'm going to help! Hook did help us so we should help her back!] March replied back to my question

[Alright then! I'll be waiting for you at the shelter in the mine, big sister..... I-I mean... Argh...] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great replied back but got embarrassed when she realized what she called me and quickly left

[Aww, she called you big sister. Can I be your little sister also~] March teasingly replied back

[*blushes* is this payback for teasing you during the hide and seek with the moles] I asked her

[Who~ knows~ big~ sis~] March happily replied back. Yup it was payback.... and the two of us went back to the vagrant camp to find Pitch-Dark Hook the Great.

[Too slow, Stelle and March, Honorary Members of The Moles! You should have gotten here before Hook!] The young girl commented on our "late" arrival

 [Let me introduce you to Swetta. She is daddy's most trusted miner.] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great continued and introducing us to a vagrant.

[Not at all, Mr. Fersman trusts every vagrant, and every one of us trusts Mr. Fersman. But after what happened over at that Geomarrow vein... the atmosphere at the shelter became a bit tense.] Swetta informed us

[I'm here to find daddy's treasure, his vein detector! I heard that someone stole it, is that true?] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great asked the young adult

[After the conflict in the mines, Wildfire gathered everyone at the shelter and took a headcount to check on the wounded. Four people were not there. When we returned to the shelter, Mr. Fersman's detector was gone. We searched all around the shelter but found nothing... I guess one of those four people was the thief] Swetta told the three of us

[They picked the wrong time to commit the crime.] March commented on the new information that we got.

[Indeed, now we can narrow down the scope of our search considerably. We vagrants have our dignity, too. I'm sure we will catch the thief, but...] The vagrant told the three of us with a concerned tone

[But... what?] Both March and Pitch-Dark Hook the Great asked the vagrant

[Actually, we've already asked those four suspects about it... but they all claimed to not have stolen anything. Of course, we could never expect thieves to confess and turn themselves in, right? In my opinion, one of those four was lying] Swetta told us

[That means the liar must be the thief] I told the three of them, who agreed to my assumption.

[All four suspects are at the shelter. If you're feeling confident, why not go give it a try? Maybe you can determine who the thief is.] Swetta informed us as we started investigating, the four suspects is the cook, the tailor, the helper and the merchant.

[Ugh, adults are so dishonest! Hook's gonna question them one by one!] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great complained to us. The first person we're going to interrogate is the cook who was a the left side of the vagrant camp well cooking.

[Well, well, well! What's this, playing detective, are we?] said the cook and it seems like he overheard our conversation earlier... he probably shouldn't be trusted.

[Spill it! Did you steal my daddy's detector?] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great angerly asked the man

[You little brat! How dare you label me a thief! Someone needs to give you a good lesson on manners! I'm an honest and decent man, I'd never do such a shady thing!] The man yelled back.

[Are you seriously getting angry over a kid...] March asked the man

[It's because I'm not a thief] The cook retorted back

[Hmph, anyone can say that... If you really didn't steal anything, then just answer our questions!] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great angerly told the man

[Oh, you have a temper, huh? Alright, I'll spare a couple minutes for your little detective game.] The cook replied back to her

[What were you doing when the crime occurred?] I asked him

[ I'm a cook, what else would I be doing? Don't you notice the smoky cooking smell all over me? It's just that I happened to be out shopping for ingredients at that time. Otherwise, who'd want anything to do with this kind of thing?] He answered back

[What do you think of Mr. Fersman?] I continued to ask him

[That old Fersman was kind to me. When we were at Rivet Town, he put me in charge of the whole mining team's food supply. And it's because I trusted him that I came to this mine with him. I mean, I didn't expect he would take that money for himself... Anyway, he found that Geomarrow vein by himself, so I won't blame him for not sharing. But y'know, what he did was not like the old Fersman I knew.] The cook told us... it seems like he doesn't like the "current" Fersman

[Did you see the detector?] March asked the man

[Well... I don't want to be a snitch, but out of my respect for Fersman, I'll tell you a secret. The helper over there, I saw him sneak into Fersman's tent and come out holding a box. See? Isn't he the most suspicious one?] The cook told us and what feels like shifting the blame onto someone else.

[You might be framing him.] March told the man as we left and decided to question the helper.

[Huh, Hook? What's the matter?] The young man asked her.

[Did you steal daddy's detector?] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great asked the helper

[Wha- Oh if I'd known I would become a suspect, I wouldn't have gone out at that time... How foolish of me.] The young man stuttered

[Relax. We're just checking off all the boxes.] March told the helper

[ We just need you to answer a few questions!] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great asked him

[Okay... ask away. It would be good to clear myself of suspicion.] the helper told the three of us

[What do you think of Mr. Fersman?] I asked him since the chief seems disgruntled about Fersman

[Mr. Fersman? He's a good person. Though... oh, er, uh, never mind. Oh no, oh no... I must sound very suspicious. But I really didn't do anything. You have to believe me...] He nervously stuttered

[ What were you doing when the crime occurred?] I continued to ask

[Nothing special. I just went out to get some fresh air. Oh dear, oh dear... I know that's a lame alibi! But I swear it's the truth.] He replied back and it seems like he is extremely nervous

[hmmm..... yeah he isn't the culprit] I told Pitch-Dark Hook the Great and March

[Why do you think that?] March and Pitch-Dark Hook the Great asked.

[Because he is meant to be a scape goat... and he seems to be too much of a coward to actually steal anything... we should check on the chief just in case] I told the both of them as we went back to the cook.

[Hey why are you back here?] He asked us while looking around avoiding eye contact.

[Nothing~ important~] I said as I took out my bat and hit him unconscious

[That was unnecessarily violent] March told me... well it's not like I've changed all that much from being a biker gang leader in my previous life... as we searched inside his camp, Pitch-Dark Hook the Great found something familiar the geomarrow detector and it's still in good condition- I think.

[It was lucky that you were correct but what would you do if you were wrong?] March asked me

[*thumbs up* don't worry about it] I jokingly told her

[We should go back to Daddy]. Pitch-Dark Hook the Great told March and I and the three of us went back to Fersman, who was still at the clinic.

[Where have you been, Hook? I was just about to go looking for you. Come on, let's go home, I'll cook some salt-baked rock crabs for you.] Fersman asked the happy kid

[Daddy! I got it back!] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great happily told the old man as she showed him the geomarrow detector

[You guess found it? The vein detector I lost.] Fersman asked us

[Stelle, March, and Hook helped daddy catch the thief that stole it! And got the treasure back!] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great happily told him

[Thanks you three but daddy's true treasure has been here all along. It was never lost or stolen.] Fersman told Pitch-Dark Hook the Great, as March and I smiled when hearing that

[...Huh? What do you mean?] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great asked her father.

[And it is an adorable treasure.] March told the young kid

[Huh, you know what it is too?] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great asked March

[He's talking about you Hook~] I told her

[ Daddy...] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great said while tears started to slowly fall down

[Stelle, March... you're not allowed to see Hook cry! Go away!] She told us off as we happily left the clinic.

*bzzt* my phone vibrated while I was hanging out with Dan Heng.

[123 are you the honorary member of the The Moles I am Pitch-Dark Hook the Great I borrowed Julian stuff to message you I'm not good at typing yet It's sooo difficult Right I need your help Come find me and don't you ever tell that old witch otherwise you are done for] read the text and it was Pitch-Dark Hook the Great.

[Who was it?] Dan Heng asked me

[A kid named Hook, you know the kid help March and I find you and also the one that March and I helped yesterday.... seems like she needs help, sorry I've gotta go.] I told Dan Heng

[No problem, be safe out there] He replied back. As I headed to Nat's clinic, I've stopped her waiting for me.

[What is it, Pitch-Dark Hook the Great?] I asked the little girl

[Ah, honorary member of The Moles! Listen up! Thank you for helping Hook find the detector, but now Hook needs to ask you another favor...] Pitch-Dark Hook the Great replied back to me and she would probably ask me to do another task.

[Sure... why not] I told her cutting her of

[Haha, I haven't even mentioned what this is about! But that's the spirit. You truly are an honorary member of The Moles!] Hook happily said. Apparently the both of us are going to Rivet Town to get Hook's treasure and gift it to her father since they share a birthday and they exchange gifts to each other. Also if Nat finds out that is going to Hook Rivet Town, she will get into big trouble and Hook also wants me to also get yelled at. Plus we also need to get Julian's treasure because he asked Hook to bring it back.

As the two of us entered Rivet Town Hook told me that Julian's parents used to own a business in this area. When they were all forced to leave the town, there were lots of things they didn't have time to take with them. And as we headed to the center of the town where most of the shops are Hook suddenly stopped.

[Ah, we found Julian's treasure! No, not the key- these glass marbles. Look at all the different colors! I bet it wasn't easy collecting all these.] Hook said as she corrected me when I reached out for they key.

[Sorry, I thought the key was the treasure...] I told Hook

[No, these marbles are what he's after. But I'm also curious... What does this key open? Let's ask Julian when we get back.] Hook told me as we continued to find her treasure, which she would tell me that it was at the abandoned orphanage. As we entered the orphanage, the two of us spot a fragmentum beast roaming around and the two of us easily took it out.

[ Wait! Let me take a look at my notes. I marked the location where I stashed the treasure.] Hook said after defeating the monster

[So what is your mysterious treasure?] I asked her

[It's a reward from the old witch! You'll know what it is after I dig it up. "Go down the stairs on the left, then walk ten paces forward. Turn right, walk another fifteen paces. Spin around ten times, then keep walking forward..." ...Oh, no... I'm doomed! The second half of my notes are completely ruined!] She told me while being devastated at the ruined notes.

[You shouldn't have written so much.] I calmly told her

[What kind of lame treasure map would it be if it only had one or two steps!?] Hook angerly replied back and the two of us started searching, and the two of us found a time capsule that was made by Julian and also a teddy bear which was Hook's treasure

[Here it is- my teddy bear! The old witch gave it to me as a gift!] Hook Happily said out loud

[Yes he is and he's called Junjun!... Whoa, Junjun... How did you get covered in dirt? And why do you have so many loose threads? If we don't get you cleaned up, no one will buy you.] Hook replied back

[?!? Wait... you're selling him?!? Why?.] I confusingly asked her... I thought that it was meant to be a gift. And Hook would tell me that apparently she was planning to sell both her and Julian's treasure for some money to apparently buy a gift for her dad.

[since both of the underworld and overworld still use credits... how about me giving you the money instead of selling these...] I told her as I took out some credits

[Really?!? Thank you, Stelle!] Hook replied back as she quickly took the money out of my hands

[But you are not allowed to sell the teddy bear, got it?] I told her off as I made a deal with her

[Got it!] She happily replied back

[Now lets go to Nat's clinic to fix it up] I told the young girl who became scared

[If she finds out I went somewhere I shouldn't have gone... *whimper* Hook will get lectured all over again...] Hook said as a dragged her to the clinic to fix it.

[Hook? Stelle? What are you...] Nat asked as Hook cut her off and handed over JunJun

[N- Natasha! Junjun's in bad shape. Can you help me fix him...?] Hook nervously asked the doctor

[ I remember giving you Junjun. I haven't seen this fella in years. Where did you find him?] Nat asked the scared girl

[The... the wind brought him back to me...] Hook badly lied to Nat

[Be honest with me, Hook.] The doctor sternly told the kid

[Hook asked me to find a teddy bear so I went into the fragmentum to get it for her... don't worry she didn't go inside I made sure of it] I lied to Nat trying to cover up for Hook.

[You went in the fragmentum alone!? To get this teddy bear?!? Are you insane??] Nat angerly asked me

[Natasha, please! Please help me fix Junjun. I'll clean the clinic for you for a whole month!] Hook interrupted her

[*sigh* You say that every time, and then...] Nat replied to Hook tiredly

[ G—Great, seeya soon! Stelle, I'll leave Junjun with you!] Hook said as she handed over Junjun and ran away. And I would get yelled at by Nat for a whole ten minutes, which after all the yelling she did, she would immediately fix up the teddy bear and I was felt tired. Note to self don't piss her off.... And as I headed outside to find Hook

[ ...Did the old witch yell at you?] Hook said as she appeared behind me

[Yes... yes she did] I replied back all deflated

[sigh* But you were only there to help Hook... I'm sorry, honorary member!] Hook apologized to me

[Now be a good girl and don't get into trouble or any danger AND don't sell it.] I reminded her

[Alright... I got it, seeya, Stelle] Hook waved goodbye as she left.

[Heya! Watcha doing out here] March said as she hugged me form behind

[Helped Hook find a teddy bear...] I tiredly replied back

[That sounded fun... why did you invite me] March said as she pouted her cheeks

[It wasn't... I got yelled at for 10 minutes straight by Nat] I informed her

[W-Well maybe next time] March nervously replied bacj

[Let's go on a date... come on lets go] March said as she grabbed my hand and dragged me....This day was surprisingly alright after all.
