Cat Cultivation

Chapter 3: The First Step

Late in the afternoon with the sun setting.

Biscuit and Xi talked about their respective worlds.

The world Xi came from was inhabited by mostly cats, however were are also other species of cats as well from ancient times such as lions, tigers, panthers, etc.

She described how her world was always on the brink of war, due to the importance of power.

Her clan, the Xi clan, had its roots embedded in a powerful kingdom called Ru. They were just one of the many sects that lived there.

Biscuit listened to all of this in awe and wonder. Who knew that the world was so exciting?

Suddenly Xi's ears twitched and she heard the door slam downstairs with footsteps coming up.

"What is it?"

Biscuit saw her alert state and quickly explained.

"Thats my human slave- errr servant. Don't worry, he serves me."

No sooner had he said this when a human came into the room and froze upon seeing the new arrival. The human was clearly only expecting biscuit, not expecting another cat!

"(@#)(%&!!!!"

The human became very animated, taking out a gadget and fiddling with it.

Xi whispered to Biscuit.

"Just what is he doing?"

Biscuit whispered back.

"Don't worry, he's smitten by my charms and worships me. Watch."

Biscuit then proceeded to pose in different ways, waiting for the daily photos to be taken.

"Sigh. Come hither, servant. Take as many photos as you wan-"

However he was simply shoved aside and instead the focus was all on Xi.

"WHAT! HOW DARE YOU, YOU AUDACIOUS BEAST. Have you forgotten who your master is?! Have you no shame?!"

Biscuit continued meowing to no avail while Xi just sat perfectly still letting the human do its thing. Eventually Biscuit just huffed and jumped on the bed while glaring darkly at the human.

The human eventually stopped and sat down at the desk. Xi jumped up as well beside Biscuit and heard him muttering.

"A gentlemen will always have their revenge. Do you think this transgression will go unpunished? I will break a cup or two and we shall see who has the last laugh. Hmph."

Xi watched the human do its thing for a while, curious about this creature that was so abundant in this realm.

"I'm going to cultivate for a while to try to recover the spirit power for the teleporter."

Biscuit simply nodded. He too, should begin cultivating as much as he can to catch up to Xi. Who knows? He might be a hidden genius capable of overturning all understanding.

Looking deep within himself, Biscuit studied the cultivation manual, an art called "Beginners Cultivation Manual version 4.1.1."

After reading through everything, Biscuit summed it up like this: One. Feel Qi by breathing a certain way. Two. Circulate it according to the manual. Three. Accumulate Qi in body.

Alright seems easy enough. Lets start.

Hoo-hah..

Hoo-Hah...

Hoo-Hoo-Hah...

Hoo...

Morning. Biscuit yawned and looked around. He then remembered everything that happened yesterday. Right! Cultivation! Biscuit checked his cultivation and...

Nothing. He didn't even feel any Qi, unless his farts counted or his tummy rumbles. Could it be?! Was he talentless after all?! No this can not be! Who was he? He should be a dragon amongst cats waiting quietly to explode with talent!!!

Xi was still beside him, perfectly still and cultivating. She noticed his movement and opened her eyes.

"Great you're awake. There are a few problems."

Biscuit looked alarmed.

"What problems, Xi? Are there more enemies?"

Xi shook her head.

"No, its just that the spiritual essence here is very very thin. Almost non existent. It might take me a whole month to charge the crystal."

Biscuits eyes lit up as the pieces fell into place for him.

"No wonder!!! I couldn't feel anything at all despite practicing all night!!"

Xi nodded.

"The Essence here is so thin a first timer will definitely not be able to gather anything since they don't know what they are feeling for. It might take you a long time to cultivate here."

Biscuit visibly deflated and his ears drooped down.

"Oh..."

Xi panicked and then thought of something.

"How...how about I send you spiritual qi so you can feel it?"

Biscuit instantly revived, jumping up with renewed vigor.

"Thank you master Xi for gracing this lowly one with this opportunity!!"

Xi saw his cheerful appearance and her eyes visibly softened. She remembered that she too was once as excited to cultivate. It was only right that she help someone start their journey just as her family had helped start hers.

Xi blushed a bit. The method she was going to try was only done between couples, as it could also be counted as a dual cultivation technique. However she was simply going to send some qi to Biscuit through her paw to his.

Holding onto Biscuits paw, she started sending a little trickle of Qi into his palm.

Biscuit looked at this beautiful cat holding his paws and was at a loss for words. A poem came to his mind that he had seen somewhere before.

Her touch, a gentle caress, a tender embrace,

Unveils a world of tenderness and grace.

Biscuit then closed his eyes to feel. Concentrating his attention on his paw, he felt it. A swirling energy was moving in his palm. Gently, he began to breathe and with every breath, the Qi was slowly drawn into him moving the way he wanted. Gradually, he began to get the hang of it and circulated the qi before drawing it into his core.

Circulation complete! He had taken his very first step into becoming a cultivator!

Visibly excited he opened his eyes and looked at Xi in pure joy. Xi also looked at him, the both of them enjoying the moment together.

Their moment was suddenly broken when the human woke up and yawned. Xi blushed and looked away while moving her paws away. Biscuit immediately glared at the human who had dared to ruin his masters good mood.
