Chapter 14: The Eyes above
The moment Kelin backed away from the assassination mission, he thought he was invisible — a ghost in the night.
But he wasn't.
High above on a rooftop across from Dock 17, inside a blacked-out van, Kelin had been spotted.
By two men who once shared blood with him.
Melin and Jack.
They had arrived moments earlier to meet with Drax — now a top-level strategist under the Red Cult Ballas — when Jack's sharp eyes caught the glint of a scope through the fogged window of the van.
"Yo, Melin... we're being watched."
"Who is it?"
"Scope. Silencer. Night gear. That's a hit van. Real pro..."
Then the wind shifted. The angle changed. And for a brief second, Melin saw the face.
His heart dropped.
"Wait... no. It can't be."
He zoomed in with his lens.
It was Kelin.
"My little brother... he's alive."
Hood on Lockdown
Melin's fists clenched.
He turned to Drax immediately.
"Call the crew. Full lockdown in Hood 47. I want every Ballas soldier and Red Cult initiate on alert."
Drax nodded.
"Yes, boss. I'll have the entire sector crawling with firepower."
Within 15 minutes, the entire hood was fortified:
Red flags waving.
Armed soldiers in red coats patrolling every corner.
Underground snipers hidden in the shadows.
Road blocks lit with red LED lights.
Upcoming Ballas initiates in training, now forced to pick up arms.
"No one gets in. No one gets out," Melin ordered.
"If Kelin wants to play ghost... let's see if he can haunt a fortress."
Jack Reacts
But Jack was different.
He stared at Melin, confused.
"Wait... if that's Kelin… why would he be aiming a sniper at us?"
"He's our brother, Melin."
"We're not sure yet," Melin replied coldly. "He could be working for someone else. He could be trying to finish what the streets started."
Jack shook his head.
"Or maybe he was sent to kill Drax… and stopped."
They looked at each other in silence.
Kelin Escapes, Just Barely
Inside the van, Kelin's tech screen blinked:
ALERT: SIGNAL JAMMED
RED BALLAS LOCKDOWN INITIATED
Bytefire's voice came through, glitching.
"Kelin! MOVE! They saw you—scramble route, now!"
Kelin bolted out the back of the van, throwing a smoke grenade and vanishing into the alleyways of San-Jamb like a shadow melting into the bricks.
Barely escaping with his life.
But now, Melin knew.
Jack knew.
The Ballas knew.
And the past was no longer buried.
A War Brews
That night, Melin stood on the rooftop where he once watched over the city with pride.
But now… there was fire rising from the alleys.
Rumors whispered.
"Felin's blood is alive again."
"The hacker. The ghost. He's back."
"The Red Cult has a traitor."
Melin looked at Jack.
"He's alive, Jack. And he's coming."
Jack lit a cigarette.
"Then let's not wait. Let's bring him home… or burn everything trying."
