5. Whale Rubber. Experimenting with Martial Soul.

[Douluo Continent, Heaven Dou Empire, Heaven Dou City, Dugu Mansion...]

As the excitement from Dugu Chen's spectacular Martial Soul Awakening began to settle, the family's attention turned to the next crucial step.

"Father, Xiao Chen has Full Innate Soul Power. Doesn't that mean we can hunt a Soul Ring for him right away?" Mo Ying asked.

Hearing this, Dugu Bo and Dugu Xin immediately fell into deep thought.

"You are right, Ying'er. I wonder which Soul Beast's Soul Ring would be best suited to be Dugu Chen's first Soul Ring," Dugu Bo muttered with a frown on his face, trying hard to search deep into his knowledge of Soul Beasts. Dugu Xin was also doing the same.

However, before they could discuss it further, Dugu Chen grabbed their attention by saying, "Everyone, we don't need to rush to acquire a Soul Ring for me. You all should take a look at this first."

With that, he retrieved a book from his Scarlet Autumn Storage Ring, flipped it open to a specific page, and then handed it over to Dugu Bo.

Dugu Bo accepted the book with a curious expression and, alongside his son, began reading the page's contents. Moments later, their faces displayed a hint of embarrassment before shifting to shock. Exchanging a quick glance, they continued to read further with growing astonishment.

"This… This has the potential to change the world of Soul Masters!" Dugu Xin exclaimed as he finished reading.

Mo Ying's curiosity also grew as she witnessed their reaction and she couldn't help but ask, "What is it? What has the potential to change the Soul Master world?"

"See for yourself." With that, Dugu Xin handed the book to her and took Dugu Yan from her arms.

Dugu Chen quietly observed the lively exchange, all the while gently stroking his Martial Soul's beak-like nose. Noticing the curious glances his little sister and the Niffler were exchanging, he smiled and carefully picked up the creature, then handed it over to her.

Dugu Yan immediately hugged the Niffler with a squeal, "It's so soft and cute. Just like a Mochi."

Hearing this, Dugu Chen laughed and said, "Yes, it is. But, don't try to eat it, okay? Or it may bite you."

At that moment, Mo Ying, reading the first part of the page in the book Dugu Chen had presented, immediately frowned and shot a sharp look at Dugu Bo and Dugu Xin, "You think this thing can change the world?! Father, Husband, I didn't expect that you two were interested in such things," She turned to Dugu Chen with an equally stern expression. "And you! What are you doing reading about things like the uses of Whale Rubber? You're far too young for this."

Whale Rubber, after all, was a substance often used as a tonic across the Douluo Continent, widely recognized for its ability to enhance sexual stamina—a topic Mo Ying clearly deemed unsuitable for her son's curiosity.

Dugu Xin looked mortified as it seemed that his wife misunderstood the situation. Dugu Bo, on the other hand, remained unfazed as he gestured toward the book, "Ying'er, before you start scolding, read the entire page first. There's more to it than what you think."

Though skeptical, Mo Ying continued reading. As her eyes scanned the rest of the page, her initial ire disappeared, replaced by astonishment. By the time she finished, she understood why Dugu Xin had called this thing world-changing.

The book was an encyclopedia of Sea Demon Beasts from the oceans surrounding the Heaven Cloud Continent, cataloged various species, their traits, and the practical uses of their bodies. On the page Dugu Chen pointed out, it explained that Whale-type Demon Beasts produced a unique substance called Whale Rubber.

Beyond its more infamous applications, Whale Rubber had properties that could significantly strengthen the body, enhance muscles and bones, and increase the capacity of meridians—qualities essential for Soul Masters aiming to absorb high-age Soul Rings.

"This…" Mo Ying murmured, not finding any words to express her emotions.

Dugu Bo and Dugu Xin, equally energized by the discovery, quickly started a discussion about the best ways to acquire high-age Whale Rubber without drawing unwanted attention from other powers on the continent.

Dugu Chen, noting their growing fervor, interjected as he said, "There's no need to rush, everyone. Even if we can secure Whale Rubber, we lack the means to refine it using the high-temperature flames necessary to make it consumable."

His words dampened his grandfather and father's enthusiasm, prompting them to set the topic aside for now.

At this moment, Dugu Chen retrieved a small jade bottle from his Scarlet Autumn Storage Ring and held it up for everyone to see. "Take a guess, everyone. What do you think is inside?"

Dugu Bo leaned closer, examining the bottle's contents. Within, he spotted a round pill marked by a golden blood-red dragon pattern etched into its surface. His eyes widened in recognition. "This… is this the Dragon Heart Core Transcendence Pill?!

When Dugu Chen nodded in response, he followed up with another question, "Are you planning to consume it now?"

Dugu Chen nodded initially but then shook his head. He took a moment to collect his thoughts before explaining. "You know, Yu Xiaogang, the youngest son of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's family head, also possesses a Martial Soul with consciousness, and he feeds it radishes to enhance the power of his fart-based Soul Skills.

Suppressing a chuckle, he continued, "This indicates that a Martial Soul with consciousness can consume food. I want to conduct an experiment to see if it really works like that.

"If it does, then by feeding this pill to my Martial Soul, I hope to not only enhance its treasure-seeking capabilities but also imbue it with the Bloodline of Dragons, elevating its overall quality."

Dugu Bo, ever cautious, asked, "What experiment are you talking about? And how much faith do you have in the results of the experimentation? You know how valuable a treasure like the Dragon Heart Core Transcendence Pill is. Wasting it would be a significant loss."

In response, Dugu Chen pulled out another jade bottle, "This one contains a Hidden Spirit Pill. It's a type of Concealment Pill that allows the user to conceal their presence from Spiritual Power detection.

"I will feed this to my Martial Soul and then, Grandpa, Mother, and Father can try to sense it using their Spiritual Power. If this works and you can't sense it using your Spiritual Power, then we can be rest assured that it would be able to successfully use the Dragon Heart Core Transcendence Pill."

Intrigued, Dugu Bo easily agreed to the experiment.

Then, Dugu Chen fed the Hidden Spirit Pill to his Niffler. After waiting for a moment, the adults attempted to sense it using their Spiritual Power. To their amazement, only Dugu Bo could faintly perceive its presence, while both Dugu Xin, a Rank 49 Soul Ancestor, and Mo Ying, a Rank 45 Soul Ancestor, failed to do so.

"This is remarkable," Dugu Xin exclaimed, amazed that a pill like this could exist in the Heaven Cloud Continent. At the same time, he couldn't help but imagine the chaotic and lawless environment that must have driven the creation of such an item.

Mo Ying nodded in agreement, equally astonished by the pill's capabilities.

Dugu Bo, drawing from his vast experience, concluded, "Chen'er's Martial Soul is indeed capable of consuming pills or maybe even other useful things to enhance itself. As for the Hidden Spirit Pill, it likely failed against me due to the immense difference in our strengths."

With the experiment yielding promising results, Dugu Bo, Dugu Xin, and Mo Ying were in full support of giving the Dragon Heart Core Transcendence Pill to Dugu Chen's Martial Soul.
