Chaos Maker: The Wanderer

Chapter 10: Old World Defense Multi Layer Dimensional Barrier 1

After my two-week journey, I finally arrived at my destination.

Before me—precisely 100 miles away—stood a massive gray wall stretching as far as I could see. If I wasn't mistaken, the wall was at least 50 miles tall and 30 miles thick. Wanting to examine it further, I spread my magic detection. However—

"Huh? Why can't my magic detection reach it?"

Even though I expanded my detection infinitely, engulfing an area of infinity, I still couldn't reach the wall.

I felt as if an endless space separated me from it. When I was farther away, I hadn't sensed this, but now that I was closer, I could feel the vast, boundless void between me and the wall. The cause of this was a barrier—one that enveloped the entire Old World protecting it from the monstrosities living in the new world.

Suddenly, something clicked in my mind. I bumped my fist against my palm.

"I forgot about this barrier."

According to my Project Final Chaos, both the Old World and the Given World were enclosed and protected by a Multi-Endless Dimensional Barrier.

A Multi-Endless Dimensional Barrier was an absolute defense constructed using three types of magic: barrier, time-space, and creation.

This Multi-Layer Dimensional Barrier had an "???" number of layers, each containing an "???" number of dimensions, each the size of "??? Level." Within those dimensions lay yet another "???" number of dimensions, repeating in an infinite loop. The barrier's strength was also "???," meaning everything about it was on an uncharted level. It functioned as the separator of the "??? Level" number of dimensions, with time-space magic making it possible to stack them within layers, while creation magic shaped their structure and functionality.

The barrier was impregnable. Any attack or entity attempting to reach the Old World had to cross through every single layer—an almost impossible feat unless one possessed teleportation magic at least at the forbidden level or "???" Level, allowing them to bypass all layers instantly.

Destroying the barrier was equally impossible. It existed in a state between existence and nonexistence. To touch something, it must first exist; if it doesn't, it's like asking an ordinary person to see, touch, or feel something that isn't there.

There were only three ways to bypass the barrier:

Using Teleportation at the "???" Level to reach the destination instantly. This method involved cutting the distance between two points instantly, rather than moving through space. However, I lacked access to space magic of that caliber, especially with most of my power sealed.

Finding a teleportation point hidden within the layers.

This was even harder. Each portal was guarded by a powerful monster known as a Gate Boss—creatures so formidable that even the strongest beings in existence would need an infinite number of equally powerful allies just to defeat one. To reach the Old World, I would have to defeat hundreds.

Receiving approval from those who managed the barrier.

This was the easiest method—but also the most troublesome. Finding these individuals would be a challenge, especially since I had no clue where to look. Although I had designed Final Chaos, I was certain I hadn't followed the blueprint completely. I had likely made so many improvements that even I wouldn't recognize it anymore.

With the first and third options ruled out, I was left with only the second. It was the most dangerous path of all—facing monsters that not even the strongest beings in existence could hope to defeat. And here I was, someone with the physical strength of an ordinary person and an unlimited magic cheat code, thinking of challenging them.

Laughable.

Imagine the most powerful being you could think of—omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. That kind of existence would be one-shotted by the monsters residing in the Barrier's dimensions.

After mulling over my options, I bit the bullet and approached the barrier.

A while later, I arrived. Though invisible to the naked eye, my magic sense—a higher version of magic detection—revealed its presence. It resembled a thin, translucent membrane of flowing water.

I reached out with my right hand, but it passed straight through.

I tried analyzing its mechanism—and failed.

I observed the barrier, hoping to glean some insight—nothing.

With a sigh, I gave up and stepped forward, mumbling about my failed attempt to satisfy my curiosity.

With a single step, I crossed the threshold and entered the first of countless layers—stepping into the dimension contained within it.

Beneath a clear blue sky, an endless metropolis greeted me.

Towering skyscrapers pierced the heavens, while vast highways stretched endlessly, forming an intricate web of roads. Cars, buses, and trucks sat scattered across them. Trees stood proudly in the rare patches of land untouched by concrete. No matter where I looked, all I could see were colossal skyscrapers vanishing into the sky, an infinite network of roads, sprawling residential districts filled with unique houses, and massive industrial zones.

"Well, this is a surprise. A City Dimension—or, in other words, a Metropolis Dimension."

Even though I had sensed the vastness of the Barrier's space from the outside, I had no idea what lay within. That was why this revelation caught me off guard.

"This dimension is beautiful, but…"

Something was off.

I looked around and quickly noticed the absence of life. No humans. No animals.

I expanded my magic detection to infinity.

"Confirmed. There's no life here."

The city was magnificent, yet behind its beauty lurked an unsettling emptiness. Its sheer grandeur, devoid of inhabitants, exuded an eerie, haunting presence.
