Chapter 115
That evening, Wei Shixu returned home instead of staying at the dormitory.
He stormed up the stairs, tossing his school uniform aside, his entire demeanor radiating fury, his face as dark as the storm clouds before a tempest.
His emotions were so pent up, it felt like he was about to explode!
It was Wednesday.
Qian Cheng was surprised to see the young master back, and even more cautious upon noticing his agitated state. He stopped at the study door, waiting.
If he guessed correctly, the young master had something to instruct him.
Gouge out someone's eyes?
But to his surprise, Wei Shixu simply sat on the sofa in the study, deep in thought.
Qian Cheng: "???"
He wasn’t sure if he should speak, so he just stood there, keeping him company.
Wei Shixu’s current state was bizarre, his mind filled with all sorts of strange thoughts.
He was absolutely furious with that Lu guy from the sports department!
But…
What was that guy after? Quan Zhisui’s mother?
Unlikely. What kind of background did that kid have to even touch the high-stakes games of someone like Quan Feng?
If someone was guiding him from behind the scenes, they were doing a terrible job!
Was it just a simple attempt to pursue Quan Zhisui?
Even more ridiculous!
What kind of physique, family background, or skills did that kid have?
Could he even withstand a single punch from Quan Zhisui? Was he even worthy of one of her toes?
It was laughable!
Wei Shixu was hesitating about whether he should intervene.
Let things play out? After all, there was no way Quan Zhisui would ever fall for that guy.
But the thought of seeing the two of them walking side by side, sharing milk tea and chocolates every day…
It made him want to explode!
Wei Shixu got up and paced around the study, unable to comprehend how his competition had sunk to such a low level.
A high school student? From the student council?
Infuriating!
After a long while, he finally spoke.
"Where’s the list of thugs Grandpa used to hire?" Wei Shixu asked.
Qian Cheng was momentarily stunned, blinking before quickly responding, "You mean the ones Mr. Wei hired thirty years ago?"
Wei Shixu’s expression remained dark. "Yes. How many of those thugs are still alive?"
Qian Cheng: "It’s been a long time. We’d have to look into it."
Back in the last century, few who rose to power were completely clean. Most had some shady dealings, and there were always people needed to handle certain tasks. Wei Jingsan was no exception.
This was why Wei Shixu said he carried a bit of a "gangster aura."
However, with the changes at the end of the century, Wei Jingsan had long since become a legitimate businessman. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been hit so hard by the Yan Family’s Yan Ajiu when trouble arose.
Though Yan Ajiu was no longer alive, the grudges from the past century remained unresolved.
The Wei and Yan families had long since cut off all ties!
"Look into it," Wei Shixu ordered.
He even started flipping through the records himself, digging through his grandfather’s past, page by page.
Late at night, Wei Jingsan wheeled himself into the room, holding a chicken leg. "You’re out of your mind, digging up things from thirty years ago. You’re sick."
Wei Shixu ignored him and kept searching.
Wei Jingsan tossed the chicken bone onto Wei Shixu’s desk, then grabbed the nearby curtain to wipe his greasy hands.
Wei Shixu frowned.
Qian Cheng took a deep breath. Heaven knew how many times those curtains had been washed. Did Wei Jingsan really have to be so obnoxious?
The poor housekeeper was going to be worked to death!
Wei Jingsan asked, "Why are you looking for those thugs? To beat someone up? Who?"
Wei Shixu still didn’t respond.
Wei Jingsan leaned closer. "You could ask me, you know. I still have tea and meals with them occasionally. But they’ve retired, and they’re all old now. They don’t do petty stuff like beating people up anymore."
Wei Shixu frowned, eyeing Wei Jingsan’s greasy hand, which was dangerously close to his clothes.
Wei Jingsan pulled his hand back. "Beg me. Beg me, and I’ll help you find someone. Even if they’re retired, they’ve got underlings who’ve got underlings. Those young guys are still willing to do the dirty work."
Wei Shixu closed the file and walked out without a word.
Wei Jingsan cursed behind him, "Would it kill you to beg me once? Just once!!!"
Qian Cheng could only smile awkwardly. There was nothing else he could do.
The grandfather and grandson could bicker all they wanted, but he couldn’t afford to!
At that moment, Wei Jingsan’s eyes landed on a patched-up basketball sitting on a shelf. It was in such bad shape, with patches all over, that it was practically unusable. Yet, it was displayed on an exquisite, expensive wooden stand.
Wei Shixu had even encased the basketball and stand in a glass cover to keep it dust-free.
Wei Jingsan wheeled himself over, his eyes gleaming as he reached out with his greasy hands.
"Hey! Let me play with this ball…"
Whoosh!
Qian Cheng quickly stepped in, blocking Wei Jingsan.
"Mr. Wei! You might not care at your age, but the butler’s life matters too!" Qian Cheng sternly stopped him.
His heart had nearly jumped out of his chest!
Wei Jingsan glared at him, annoyed. "You’re making such a big deal out of nothing. My life’s boring. Can’t I even play with a ball?"
Qian Cheng quickly grabbed the wheelchair and pushed Wei Jingsan out. "Mr. Wei, please don’t enter the young master’s study anymore."
He was practically begging!
...
The next day at noon, during the usual post-lunch break, Lu Li showed up right on time, this time with a box of chocolates. "Quan Zhisui, these chocolates are really good. Don’t martial artists like you have a sweet tooth?"
He had come prepared, even researching that people with high physical activity tend to crave sweets.
Quan Zhisui did want to eat it, but she refused. "No, I can’t overdo it."
Lu Li took out one piece and handed it to her. "How about one a day? One piece is fine, right?"
"Okay," Quan Zhisui accepted the chocolate, her expression neutral.
Wei Shixu watched the entire scene unfold. As the two walked away, he glanced out the window at the green trees, then got up and left the classroom.
The classroom was eerily quiet, with everyone pretending to read or nap.
It was terrifying!
No one dared to look at Wei Shixu’s face.
It was so dark, it looked like he was about to hit someone!
Well, he already had.
With his face.
The whole class was paralyzed with fear, wondering if Wei Shixu would go blow up the student council.
Only Kong Mingze was sound asleep, completely oblivious to what was happening.
Thanks to the Chinese medicine, Wei Shixu’s health had improved, and he no longer needed acupuncture. So Kong Mingze took full advantage of the lunch break to nap.
He loved his midday snoozes.
...
That day, five people from the student council’s sports department showed up. Aside from Lu Li, the other four looked confused.
"Learn Tai Chi? Oh, right, I remember now."
"Using our lunch breaks every day?"
"Is Quan Zhisui teaching us?"
The four seemed unaware of the situation, asking questions left and right.
Quan Zhisui looked at Lu Li. "Didn’t you discuss this? Maybe you should figure it out before coming to me."
She was busy and didn’t have time to waste on pointless discussions in the student council.
Lu Li smiled. "It’s been discussed. We’ll need to learn it sooner or later. It was mentioned in a meeting before, but they probably forgot."
The four nodded after a moment.
"Yeah, it was mentioned."
"I remember now. We’re supposed to learn it before next semester starts."
Quan Zhisui glanced at the five of them. "Let’s start with the opening stance."
She stood at the front, demonstrating the move, and the five followed along, though none of them did it quite right.
After a while, Quan Zhisui went around correcting their postures. With some guidance, they started to get the hang of it. But when it came to Lu Li, it was as if his body just wouldn’t cooperate.
Lu Li: "Sorry, I think my balance is off. My arms aren’t level."
Quan Zhisui replied flatly, "How did you even get into the sports department?"
Lu Li: "…"
