Chapter 39: Chapter 39: A Pirate World Meetup
Ning Rongrong's marksmanship left Su Xiaoqi utterly speechless—each shot missed the target by a full body's width. He began to suspect that real firearms simply weren't her thing.
So, he finally gave up and told her, "Next time, wait until your enemy gets close before shooting. If you still miss then… well, I've got nothing left to say."
After returning to the Rose Hotel, Su Xiaoqi checked the chat group to confirm Nami's estimated arrival time at Cocoyasi Village the next morning. Once that was done, he prepared to bid farewell to Zhu Zhuqing and return to his own world.
However, Zhu Zhuqing tugged on his sleeve with a shy expression and said, "Xiaoqi… could you stay here tonight?"
Su Xiaoqi was momentarily stunned. Then nervous. Then slightly excited. Saiyans were into women too, alright—especially beauties like Zhu Zhuqing.
Trying to act calm, he replied, "Zhuqing, isn't that a bit fast? I mean, I've never… I'm not really prepared for that."
Zhu Zhuqing rolled her eyes so hard it was a miracle they stayed in her head. What kind of nonsense is this? So you're a first-timer—do you think I'm not?
Besides, you haven't even made any serious moves, and now you want to skip ahead? Who do you think you are—Vegeta, and I'm Bulma?
"All you men think about is that stuff," she huffed. "I meant you can stay here, you sleep outside, I'll sleep inside. Tomorrow morning, we'll go to Nami's place together."
"Ah… r-right… haha…"
Mortified, Su Xiaoqi wanted nothing more than to dig a hole in the floor with his toes and hide inside. This was peak social death.
"Sleep early. Good night." Zhu Zhuqing turned and walked to her room. Just as she reached the door, she paused and, with her back to him, added, "Don't you dare sneak into my room tonight. I'm not ready yet."
Su Xiaoqi couldn't help but suspect she was getting back at him. If she really meant it, couldn't she at least shut the door properly? Leaving a crack like that—was this a test of character?
As his thoughts spiraled, the faint rustling noises from Zhu Zhuqing's room completely stole his attention.
Is she changing clothes? Taking a bath?
Should I peek?
No, no! I'm a righteous and decent Saiyan! I absolutely won't stoop to such perverted behavior. If I'm going to look, I'll do it openly and with honor.
Flustered, Su Xiaoqi went to take a cold shower to cool his thoughts. He didn't even feel like waiting for the midnight point tally.
Inside her room, Zhu Zhuqing, now clad in only her underwear, smiled as she heard the sound of running water from the shower. Her impression of Su Xiaoqi continued to rise. If this were someone like Dai Mubai or Ma Hongjun, they would've barged in long ago.
Still, uneasiness crept in.
This "Shrek storyline" mission would eventually end. When that day came, she and Su Xiaoqi would be separated—possibly forever—across two different worlds.
Unless she triggered another story mission.
But with how the current plot was already shifting dramatically, Zhu Zhuqing feared the remaining events might never occur. If that happened, she'd never see him again.
The only other hope was the lottery system. Su Xiaoqi had once mentioned the possibility of drawing a "Teleportation Card." With that, she could freely travel worlds, regardless of the missions.
"I have to earn more points," she thought with renewed determination. "Anyone who dares to get in my way will be my enemy—and I mean the 'to the death' kind."
"Why did he finish bathing so fast?"
Through the crack in the door, Zhu Zhuqing glanced out and saw Su Xiaoqi already lying on the sofa. She had expected him to be chatting in the group again, but a quick peek showed he hadn't said a word.
"You dummy."
She smiled teasingly, then removed her underwear, revealing a body that could make men drool and women jealous, before stepping into the bathroom.
The next morning, the early-to-bed-early-to-rise Su Xiaoqi woke up and checked last night's point tally. Zhu Zhuqing's stellar performance had earned her 8,000 points, while he had racked up 5,000.
Seeing it was only a little past six, Su Xiaoqi decided to go for a run and grab breakfast while waiting for Nami's message.
Just as he got up to wash up, Zhu Zhuqing stepped out of her room.
"Morning. Did you sleep well?"
Su Xiaoqi nodded with a smile. "Yeah. I'm going for a run after I freshen up. Want to join?"
Zhu Zhuqing had already changed into tight black leather clothes, making it clear she'd been up even earlier than him.
"Sure," she nodded.
After a quick wash, the two of them began their morning jog. Both still wore their weighted training gear—they planned to remove them once they entered the One Piece world.
The Arlong Pirates might be nothing on the Grand Line, but in the East Blue, they were the most notorious crew. Su Xiaoqi knew better than to let his guard down just yet.
"Food always tastes best after exercise."
They returned to the hotel after eating a satisfying breakfast. Su Xiaoqi originally wanted to remind Ning Rongrong to lay low for the day, but after knocking on her door for a while and getting no response, he figured she had already left for Shrek Academy.
By 9 a.m., Nami messaged the group to confirm everything was in place and sent out the portal invitation.
The moment Su Xiaoqi arrived, an excited voice shouted:
"Big bro, I finally get to meet you in person! Hahaha!"
"Damn it! Why am I the shortest guy here? Has Gin-san's body already started shrinking?!"
Sakuragi Hanamichi's enthusiastic greeting and Gintoki Sakata's dramatic complaint were the first things Su Xiaoqi heard.
Compared to the noisy banter among the men, the three girls were much more composed.
"Hello, Sister Zhuqing. I'm Lu Linglong."
"I'm Nami. Welcome to my world, Sister Zhuqing."
"Nice to meet you," Zhu Zhuqing replied with a polite nod.
Su Xiaoqi looked at the two men and chuckled. "Sakuragi, you still look best with that buzzcut of yours."
"Gin-san… those dead-fish eyes of yours—hahaha, sorry, I just couldn't hold it in."
Gintoki casually picked his nose. "Xiaoqi, you just don't get it. Gin-san's eyes are a secret weapon. I've captured the hearts of countless beauties with them. It's honestly kind of a burden."
"Yeah, right. Real women prefer guys like me," Su Xiaoqi retorted.
"I agree, Big Bro—you're the most handsome," Sakuragi chimed in, hands on his hips. But then he added proudly, "Still not quite as stunning as this genius—hahaha!"
Nami, completely fed up with their self-praise session, stormed over, face red with anger. "Enough already, you three! This isn't some beauty pageant! I didn't call you here to compare looks—get to work, you idiots!"
