Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Kill Arlong, Exterminate the Rats (Part 2)

"Don't be ridiculous. No ordinary person could possibly have your level of power!"

Arlong roared furiously, baring his teeth as he glared at Su Xiaoqi. "Sakata Gintoki—whoever you are, I'm going to kill you today!"

At that moment, Gintoki Sakata—who had just finished off Kuroobi and was now battling Hachi—froze in confusion. Huh? What the hell? Why was that stinky fish suddenly directing all his rage at him? Was it just because he was too handsome?

But there was no time to think about that now. Gintoki needed to hurry up and finish off Hachi before Chu—the last officer—got taken down by Lu Linglong and Zhu Zhuqing. Those were his points at stake!

Despite his harsh threats, Arlong didn't immediately lunge at Su Xiaoqi. He knew he couldn't win on land. His only hope now lay in the pool nearby, which connected directly to the sea.

If I can just get into the water, Arlong thought, I can use my fishman advantages to turn the tables on this guy.

"Sakata Gintoki," Arlong said, trying to change the subject, "you're here for Nami, aren't you? If that's what you want, I'll give her to you—and leave this place right now."

He was stalling. While talking, he subtly shifted toward the water.

Su Xiaoqi noticed the little maneuver immediately and smirked. Trying to distract me, huh? You're not the only one who can play that game.

"Ahhh!!" Su Xiaoqi suddenly let out a wild yell, pointing behind Arlong. "Jinbei?! What are you doing here?!"

"What?!" Arlong instantly froze and whipped his head around.

Of course, there was no Jinbei.

Before Arlong could even curse, Su Xiaoqi had already closed the distance and launched a savage beatdown.

Arlong, now just an exp bag, was of no more value to Su Xiaoqi. After a brutal flurry of strikes, Su Xiaoqi ended it with a single punch straight through Arlong's chest, killing him on the spot.

Then, walking over to Gintoki, he grinned and said, "Gin-san, you look like you're struggling. Want a hand?"

"Back off!" Gintoki snapped. "This octopus is Gin-san's kill—you're not stealing my points!"

"Alright, alright, you've got this. I'm gonna go check on the others. Just leave the body intact—might be useful later."

He was really just here to tease Gintoki. Hachi's strength didn't pose any real threat to him anymore and didn't offer any challenge either.

Meanwhile, Lu Linglong and Zhu Zhuqing had already cleaned up the rest of the Arlong Pirates. The only one still alive was officer Chu, though he was barely breathing.

When Su Xiaoqi learned why they hadn't finished Chu off yet, he couldn't help but laugh—they'd spared him purely because he was too ugly to bother killing.

"Big bro, can I give it a try?"

Sakuragi Hanamichi held a sword in his hands, itching to act. He and Nami were the only two who hadn't killed anyone yet—and while Nami could be excused as a girl, he was a man.

Su Xiaoqi thought for a moment and replied, "Sakuragi, I personally think you're better suited to be a basketball player. Killing isn't for you—not yet."

He didn't want Sakuragi's hands stained with blood. He preferred for him to stay as pure and innocent as he had been in the original story.

Sakuragi nodded. "I'll listen to you, Big Bro."

At that moment, Nami took the sword from Sakuragi's hands. "Let me do it. I want to change."

Su Xiaoqi didn't object. Nami's situation was completely different from Sakuragi's. The world of One Piece was built on survival of the fittest. If you didn't kill, you'd be killed.

Besides, he figured: If you're going to be a pirate, what's the point if you don't kill other pirates? Someone like Luffy only got away with that because of the protagonist's plot armor. Without it, the Straw Hats would've died countless times.

Nami walked up to Chu, took a deep breath, and said, "You've terrorized our village for too long. Today, I'll take revenge for every villager you killed or hurt."

With that, she plunged the sword straight into his heart.

Though Nami's body trembled as she looked at the lifeless body at her feet, Lu Linglong and Zhu Zhuqing stepped forward to comfort her.

Not long after, Gintoki came over after finally finishing off Hachi. When he saw Chu's corpse, he cried out, "Who?! Who stole Gin-san's points?!"

Su Xiaoqi pointed to Nami and said, "A brave woman who was willing to fight for her village's future."

"I see…" Gintoki nodded, then smiled. "No wonder she's Gin-san's Nami-chan—Gin-san truly lo—"

Before he could finish, Nami cut him off. "Who's your Nami-chan, you idiot?!"

After another round of friendly squabbling, Su Xiaoqi looked at the group. "Arlong's crew might be dealt with, but there's still one loose end."

"Nami, Linglong, Zhuqing—you three go to Arlong's stash and recover all the treasure he's extorted from the village over the years. Gin-san, Sakuragi, and I will deal with the bodies and prep for cashing in their bounties."

As soon as she heard the word money, Nami's eyes lit up like dollar signs. "I'm on it!"

Shortly after, the three women returned, each carrying a sack of treasure. Meanwhile, Su Xiaoqi and the others had prepared the corpses of the bounty-worthy fishmen for transport.

In the Arlong Pirates, only Arlong and his three officers were worth any money. The rest were just grunts.

"Nami," Su Xiaoqi said, "have the villagers take care of the rest of the bodies."

Nami nodded. "I'll tell them everything in a bit."

She had returned to the village quietly that morning to avoid alerting anyone, planning to inform them only after Arlong's crew had been wiped out.

On the way to the Going Merry—which Nami had hidden—they ran into Nami's sister Nojiko and the ever-persistent Genzo, who seemed determined to become their stepdad.

Both were shocked to see Nami back in Cocoyashi Village, and even more stunned at the sight of Arlong's crew's corpses.

Nami gave them only a quick explanation and told them to head to Arlong Park to deal with the bodies. The full story would come later.

Just as the group was boarding the Merry to sail for the Navy's 16th branch, a Marine battleship appeared, heading straight for Cocoyashi Village.

Su Xiaoqi raised his binoculars and peered at the ship, chuckling. "Well, would you look at that? We don't even have to go looking for him. The rat's come to us."

"Everyone, Operation Rat Extermination begins."

Poor Captain Nezumi had no idea what hit him. He couldn't understand why someone would come all the way to Cocoyashi Village just to kill him. Wasn't this Arlong's territory? Weren't the villagers supposed to be too afraid to resist?

He had only come a day early to collect his protection money—only to meet his end.

Su Xiaoqi finished it off with a Kamehameha, blasting the Marine battleship and its corrupt crew straight to the bottom of the sea.

With the mission complete, Gintoki started whining again—he wanted to ride the Going Merry. So they stuck to the plan and headed off to the Navy's 16th branch to collect the bounty on Arlong and his officers.

Onboard the Merry, Gintoki stood on the sheep-headed bow, mimicking Luffy's iconic pose and shouted:

"Kaizoku ou ni, ore wa naru!"(I'm gonna be the Pirate King!)

But Gintoki's joy was short-lived.

After just a little while on the sea, our dear Gin-san became horribly seasick.

HUUURGH...

Clutching the railing and offering the sea another "tribute," Gintoki collapsed onto the deck, groaning weakly, "Damn it… how could this happen? Gin-san was supposed to become the Pirate King…"
