Chapter 67: Chapter 67: New Recruit Triggers a Mission
Kevin Cross didn't expect that the moment a new member joined the group, she'd already need help. Although the chat group issued a mission, it still required a crucial step before proceeding.
"@Helpless Little Girl, choose to officially join the Harem Chat Group. Only then can we accept the mission and come to your rescue," Kevin tagged the new member directly.
The black-haired little girl saw Kevin's reminder and didn't have time to process what he meant. Acting on instinct, she accepted the invitation without understanding anything about what she was joining.
Regardless, the moment she officially joined, the mission was activated.
Two people responded to the mission: Brunhilde and Izumi Uchiha. Both chose to accept it. The others hesitated, uncertain about the level of danger in the Helpless Little Girl's world. Unsure of their ability to help without putting her at risk, those who felt underpowered opted not to participate.
Even so, only one of the two volunteers could take the mission. It wasn't a team effort this time.
After her last mission, Brunhilde had used her reward points to enhance herself. She hadn't thought much of it at first, but the noticeable boost from just 3,000 points shocked her. It gave her hope if she kept doing missions, earning points, and upgrading herself, she might eventually grow powerful enough to overwhelm the gods of Asgard. If she could reach that level, she wouldn't need to rely on battles like the ones in Ragnarok. She could face the gods head-on and crush them.
Of course, Brunhilde knew this was wishful thinking. Time was short. Only eleven months remained.
As for Izumi Uchiha, her desire to grow stronger was unmatched. She would take on any task if it meant improving her abilities.
Her world would become dangerously unstable within a few years. Legendary threats like Madara Uchiha, Hashirama Senju, and even Kaguya Otsutsuki were destined to emerge. The apocalypse loomed. And with Sasuke out of commission, he could no longer join forces with Naruto. Still, with the help of the chat group, Izumi could potentially recruit powerful allies to fight by her side.
But she didn't want that. She wanted to become strong enough to handle everything on her own.
"Draw lots. Whoever wins gets the mission," Kevin said to Brunhilde and Izumi, opting for fairness.
Neither objected. Drawing lots was simple and unbiased.
In the end, Izumi won.
Brunhilde's expression soured. In the past month, she had never received more than twenty points per daily sign-in. She always got the lowest roll among the members. For someone with her luck, random draws were anything but fair.
"Damn it!" she growled, her face twisting in frustration.
Beside her, young Gray flinched. It was happening again. Lately, her big sister Brunhilde would randomly explode with curses like this. Was it because the deadline of the final battle was getting closer? Was the pressure turning her into a lunatic?
Gray's heart filled with anxiety and sympathy.
"Gray, I have the feeling you were just thinking something terrible about me," Brunhilde said, narrowing her eyes.
Gray stiffened. "No, absolutely not. I swear."
...
Elsewhere, a woman with long, icy-blue hair smirked as she examined the strange new chat interface that had appeared in her mind.
It looked like this chat group had a decent number of members. She didn't quite understand everything yet, but it seemed... fun. And powerful. Especially the group admin who had accessed her mind without her even noticing. That kind of strength? Definitely someone not to be underestimated.
"Interesting. Very interesting!" the Ice Queen murmured, a manic glint in her eyes.
"Are you all Imperial Arms users? What kind of Arm is this group interface? Whatever it is, you've piqued my interest. If you want to challenge me, then let's have some fun. After all, you were the ones who came to me first."
The second new recruit had finally spoken.
"Newbie, check the pinned messages. We're currently busy with a mission, so I don't have time to chat. You can read the welcome guide or ask the others in the group," Kevin replied. He had a good idea of who this Ice Queen might be, but there were more urgent matters at hand.
Kevin refocused. He and Izumi activated the mission and began the jump.
The two of them simultaneously crossed into the world of the first new recruit.
The task was urgent, but not overly dangerous. Kevin wasn't worried. The reward was only 5,000 points.
Not a bad reward, but not a high-tier one either. Given the scope, Izumi could probably handle it solo. Kevin tagged along partly out of curiosity and partly to ensure everything went smoothly.
With both of them involved, completing this mission would be a breeze.
