[Lu Xian: Ye Fan, let me recall some details about your world. I'll message you later.]

[Ye Fan: Alright, I'm not in a rush. I'll focus on the opportunity in front of me first.]

[Xiao Yan: Then I'll go deal with the matter of my storage ring.]

With the three chatterboxes gone, the group chat fell silent.

The carriage swayed as it moved along the official road, unknowingly passing beyond the jurisdiction of Balak Kingdom's border city. Lush green trees lined both sides of the path, forming a continuous canopy.

Inside the carriage, Zhu Zhuqing was meditating, focusing on healing her injuries. Meanwhile, Lu Xian was sorting through his fragmented memories of the "Shrouding Heavens" storyline.

He had read the novel years ago, but while he could still recall the general plot, the finer details were a bit hazy.

Outside the carriage, the uneven roadside was dense with vegetation. Normally, one might spot small animals darting around, but at this moment, it was eerily quiet—too quiet.

Sensing something off, Zhu Zhuqing abruptly opened her eyes. Her clear pupils turned icy cold as she silently glanced at Lu Xian, who sat beside her looking relaxed.

"You felt it too?" she asked.

"Sharp senses," Lu Xian praised casually, his eyes calm and unwavering.

"My martial soul is the Nether Spirit Cat; I'm naturally sensitive to these things," Zhu Zhuqing replied softly. She then lifted the corner of the carriage curtain, peering into the dense forest outside.

"There are figures in the trees, following us!"

She frowned, lowering the curtain and speaking in a serious tone. "It's likely my sister and her people. They probably didn't dare make a move while we were still in the city, but now that we're out, they're getting restless. If they haven't attacked yet, they might have set up an ambush ahead."

"Your sister's got some skills, huh? Even tracking you beyond the borders of the Heaven Dou Empire. You two really have an... interesting relationship."

Lu Xian chuckled, not the least bit worried. In fact, he was rather pleased—his "Abstract Points" had just run out, and now someone was practically delivering fresh ones to him.

"It's just the fate of my family..." Zhu Zhuqing murmured bitterly, a hint of sadness in her eyes.

"With the empire at peace, the border security isn't as strict as one might think. Plenty of smugglers use hidden paths to bypass checkpoints."

She sighed, looking down with some guilt. "Sorry, I dragged you into this. If you want to leave now, it might already be too late."

She spoke softly, her voice tinged with regret. "I thought they wouldn't dare act recklessly inside the Heaven Dou Empire, but I underestimated their boldness. Broad daylight, and they still don't care..."

"No need to blame yourself—I don't mind."

"Life's too dull without a little excitement."

Lu Xian casually dismissed her concerns, then boldly lifted the curtain and peeked outside. He caught glimpses of black-clad figures flitting through the trees.

"It's definitely too late to run now. We're already surrounded—front, back, left, and right. Looks like they sent quite a few people."

Turning back to Zhu Zhuqing, he teased, "Who knows? We might just end up as fugitive lovebirds. Not a bad deal, having a beautiful companion along the way."

"Are you seriously joking at a time like this?"

Zhu Zhuqing rolled her eyes in exasperation, turning away to hide the slight blush on her face.

Lu Xian smirked. "Oh? So you mean if it weren't this situation, I'd be free to flirt as much as I want?"

"You—"

"I can't argue with you..."

He's so infuriating!

Zhu Zhuqing shot him a fierce glare.

"What's your martial soul and soul skills? If we're going to fight our way out, we need to work together and understand each other's strengths."

Lu Xian nodded approvingly. "I agree. In fact, we shouldn't just understand each other—we should get to know each other deeply."

"Deeply... understand...?"

Zhu Zhuqing froze for a moment, then blushed furiously.

"If you keep this up, I'm really going to get mad," she huffed, clearly flustered.

Seeing her reaction, Lu Xian decided to stop teasing. This little cat had thin skin—if he went too far, she might end up just like last night. He wiped the smirk off his face and got serious.

"Alright, you're still injured. Stay in the carriage. I'll take care of them."

With that, Lu Xian lifted the curtain and stepped out onto the carriage frame. He looked ahead and spotted a seven-man squad in black standing brazenly on either side of the road, their eyes cold and unyielding.

They seemed quite confident—did they think they had him cornered?

"I can fight. Your medicine worked wonders; I'm in good enough shape for battle," Zhu Zhuqing insisted, stepping out to stand beside him.

She scanned the area, her pupils narrowing. "The seven in front belong to my family's elite Dark Guard squad—led by a Soul Ancestor, with six Soul Elders as support. They're a battle-hardened unit."

"There are two more on each side in the trees, and three behind us—likely a seven-man scout team, usually led by a Soul Elder with six Soul Masters. Their combat strength isn't as high, but their tracking abilities are top-notch."

"My sister doesn't seem to be here. That's good news; if she were, things would be much worse."

Zhu Zhuqing relayed her analysis with a grave expression.

"That's it?"

Lu Xian sighed. He had expected some real experts, but not even a single Soul King showed up.

"I know you're strong, but don't underestimate them. The Dark Guards are nothing like the scout team you fought last night. They've been through real battles," Zhu Zhuqing cautioned urgently.

Lu Xian didn't seem concerned. He hopped off the carriage, grabbed the reins to stop the horses, and then summoned his Wolf Fang Steel Needle Sword in his right hand.

Three platinum-colored soul rings pulsed beneath his feet. Beside him, Zhu Zhuqing's two yellow hundred-year soul rings lit up.

"Be careful..."

With that, Lu Xian strode forward, eyes scanning the group for the leader. Taking down the commander first was always a good strategy.

"Three ten-year soul rings? Boss, this so-called Tang San kid doesn't match our intel—wasn't he supposed to have only two rings?" a black-clad guard questioned.

Then, suddenly, his mouth filled with something indescribable.

A putrid stench assaulted his senses, triggering an immediate gag reflex.

"Urgh—"

His eyes widened as he ripped off his mask and collapsed, vomiting uncontrollably. Everything he had eaten that morning came back up—along with something... chunky.

The other guards were stunned.

What the hell just happened?

How did he go from talking to suddenly puking out... that?

The remaining six guards felt their stomachs churn just imagining it.

From the throat...?!

F*cking disgusting!

"Stay away from us, you bastard!"

Meanwhile, Lu Xian received a notification:

[You've created an abstract scenario. Rated: Extremely Abstract. Awarded 1,000 Abstract Points.]

"Huh? My third soul skill can generate 1,000 points?!" Lu Xian's face lit up in delight.

Today was turning out to be a jackpot.

Abstract Points—come to papa!
