Chapter 22: Tang San Ghost: I'm Done For!
-----
-----
[Xiao Yan: The mission completion notice just popped up!]
[Xiao Yan: Lu Xian and Lu Xueqi, Big Bro, Big Sis, you guys are amazing! Thumbs_up.jpg]
[Xiao Yan: Ye Fan, calling Cave Ghost, calling Cave Ghost. Do you copy? Over.]
[Ye Fan: Quit messing around, I'm catching up on missed messages…]
[Yan Lingji: Looks like it's settled.]
[Xiao Yan: Awesome! Everyone's safe! Champagne_celebration.jpg]
Ye Fan finally showed up in the chat, making Xiao Yan and Yan Lingji, who had been keeping an eye on the group chat, breathe a sigh of relief.
[Xiao Yan: So it turns out Lu Xian and Naiqi are the real bosses here. I mean, they actually took down a guy who could fly, teleport, and destroy mountains. That's beyond insane!]
[Xiao Yan: Lu Xian and Lu Xueqi, Big Bosses, do you need a sidekick? Little Bro is begging for protection!]
Lu Xueqi felt a bit embarrassed by Xiao Yan's shameless flattery and responded in the group chat.
[Lu Xueqi: Honestly, I didn't contribute much. I'm not really a big shot. The mission was completed entirely thanks to Daoist Friend Lu Xian. He took just one move to completely obliterate that demonic cultivator. If it weren't for him, I probably wouldn't have been a match for that guy at all. Ye Fan's world… the cultivators there seem absurdly powerful.]
[Yan Lingji: One move?]
[Lu Xueqi: Yep. I only saw him make a single move—it was kinda weird—but then that guy just… died.]
[Lu Xueqi: Oh, by the way, Lu Xian has a nickname like everyone else in the group. They call him "Three-Seven Split." Meaning, he only needs three moves, and within seven seconds, his enemies will literally explode on the spot. At first, I didn't believe it, but after seeing him in action, I had no choice but to.]
Everyone in the group knew that Lu Xueqi was an extremely serious person. If she said someone was strong, then there was no doubt about it.
[Xiao Yan: Damn, that's a sick nickname!]
[Xiao Yan: Lu Xian, Bro, you've been hiding your strength all this time?! Please, let me be your sidekick, I'm begging you!]
[Lu Xian: What "Three-Seven Split"? That was just something I made up for fun. Don't take it seriously…]
Being ridiculously overpowered wasn't the real deal—being abstract was. No matter where he went, he brought chaos. That was just the way of the multiverse…
Earth.
Tang San Ghost stared at the constantly refreshing chat messages, his legs giving out as he collapsed onto the floor.
"No way…"
"A mere floor tile from a fantasy world… actually took down a powerhouse at the peak of the cultivation hierarchy?"
"I don't believe it… I don't believe it…"
He muttered those words over and over, his eyes filled with despair and terror.
He couldn't accept this outcome.
The moment the chat group unlocked the points exchange feature, he had already checked the list. That 100-point "Traversal Talisman" was like a death sentence staring him in the face.
He knew that with this feature, he was absolutely screwed. The people in the chat? They'd all want to kill him for sure…
Especially Xiao Yan and Lu Xian. There was no way those two would let him off the hook.
So now, he didn't even dare speak in the group. He just wanted to stay invisible and pray that everyone would forget he even existed.
Shrouding Heavens World – Yan Land, Stone Chamber.
Lu Xian and Lu Xueqi were standing by a bookshelf, flipping through ancient texts. Unlike Lu Xueqi, who was carefully studying a page full of Dao patterns, Lu Xian was much more casual.
One book after another flew past his eyes, pages flipping in rapid succession. He could read an entire page in an instant and remember it perfectly. The perks of having an Innate Learning Saint Body were showing.
Inside the bronze cauldron, Ye Fan had fully recovered. After catching up on the group chat history, he finally understood what had happened while he was unconscious.
"I didn't expect the chat group to actually issue a group assistance mission just like Lu Xian said…"
Ye Fan was impressed. Lu Xian really had a deep understanding of how this chat group worked.
Reliable!
Now that he knew the full story, Ye Fan was genuinely grateful. Lu Xian and Lu Xueqi had risked their lives to travel across worlds just to save him. No matter what, he owed them big time.
Ye Fan climbed out of the cauldron and walked over to the two at the bookshelf.
"Lu Xian, Naiqi, thank you—"
"Don't call me Naiqi!"
Lu Xueqi's eyes snapped up from the book, glaring at the small, skinny Ye Fan.
"Slip of the tongue…" Ye Fan chuckled awkwardly. "Snowy Sis…?"
"Call me 'Big Sis.'"
"Snowy Big Sis…" Ye Fan's face fell. Come on, just because I'm short right now doesn't mean I'm younger than you!
Lu Xueqi knew that, of course. But hearing an eleven- or twelve-year-old kid call her "Sis" just felt off, so she had to fix the hierarchy.
When Ye Fan finally relented and called her "Big Sis," she smiled, looking pleased with herself.
Watching Ye Fan get put in his place, Lu Xian was enjoying the show and nearly burst out laughing.
"You too—stop calling me by my nickname!" Lu Xueqi shot a glare at Lu Xian. It was his fault the whole group started calling her "Naiqi" in the first place.
"Alright, Naiqi!" Lu Xian nodded with a completely serious face, clearly still messing with her.
Lu Xueqi was pissed. She raised her Tianya Divine Sword and went to smack him.
"Heh—missed me!" Lu Xian dodged with a grin.
Shiiing!
The Tianya Sword was unsheathed!
Lu Xian's eyes widened, and he immediately took off running. "Damn, you're serious?!"
"Don't run!"
Boom—Clang—Crash!
The stone chamber was instantly thrown into chaos.
Ye Fan massaged his temples, sighing. Forget the thank-you speech—these two clearly weren't in the mood for it. He'd just remember this favor in his heart.
"Enough, stop chasing me! Time's almost up!" Lu Xian called, pulling out a smartphone. "Our first group meet-up calls for a photo!"
"A phone?" Ye Fan twitched. "How the hell do you still have that while traveling between worlds?!"
"I transmigrated physically. It makes sense to have my phone, doesn't it?"
"Come on, get in close. One, two, three—say cheese!"
The photo captured two grinning faces… and one confused one.
Hotel Room.
A glowing portal appeared.
Lu Xian stumbled back through it, rubbing his backside. "Damn, she got a sneak attack in. I swear, next time I see her, I'm getting revenge!"
"Where did you go?" A cool voice asked.
Lu Xian turned, surprised. "Why are you in my room?"
Zhu Zhuqing frowned. "I couldn't sense your presence next door, so I came to check. What was that glowing portal just now?"
"Since you saw it, might as well tell you."
Lu Xian flopped onto the bed lazily. "That was a portal to another world. I went on a trip to save a friend."
"Seriously? Running off to another world in the middle of the night to save someone?" Zhu Zhuqing rolled her eyes, obviously not buying it.
Seeing that Lu Xian didn't want to explain further, she didn't bother asking more. Everyone had their secrets. She was just making sure he was safe. Now that he was back, she turned and left.
"Tch, telling the truth and still not believed…" Lu Xian sighed, lying back as he opened the chat system to check his new rewards.
