Cheat Million Love

Chapter 42: Ch.42 : The First Unity Agency Member

When Nic returned to his mother's hospital room, Kiara teased him with a mischievous tone, "What took you so long? Where'd you go?"

Nic replied casually, "I was looking for a payphone. Left my phone at camp."

Kiara grinned knowingly. "Payphone, huh? Were you calling a friend... or a girlfriend?"

Nic chuckled and tried to dodge. "Just a friend, really."

But their mom, who overheard, joined in with a playful grin, "Come on, Nic. Just be honest. You've got a girlfriend, don't you?"

With a resigned sigh, Nic finally admitted, "Yeah… I do."

His mother's eyes lit up. "Oh! So, how is she? Is she pretty? Nice?"

Nic gave a shy smile. "Yeah… she's nice, pretty… you know, all that."

His father laughed gently and added, "Reminds me of when Kiara first brought home her boyfriend. She was so nervous... then broke up two weeks later."

"Aaah, Dad! Don't bring that up again!" Kiara whined, covering her face.

After some lighthearted teasing, evening crept in. Nic asked, "So, are we taking turns staying here tonight?"

But Kiara answered firmly, "No need, Nic. Daniella and I will stay here with Mom and Dad. You head back to the inn and get some rest. Come again tomorrow."

Nic nodded and headed out, returning to their lodging.

---

Back at the inn, Nic activated his God of lust > Cleaning Boost skill to speed through his chores. In no time, the room was spotless. He flopped down on the bed and stared at the ceiling, trying to think about what to do next.

He remembered the concert ticket he bought earlier. The print said the event was tonight.

Without overthinking it, Nic got up, got dressed, and left for the concert venue.

---

When he arrived, Nic felt confused. The stage was empty. Not a single person in sight.

"Did I come to the wrong place?" he muttered, glancing toward another area that was packed with people.

Just as he was about to walk away, lights from the empty stage flicked on.

A girl stepped into view—Monica. She looked nervous, but determined. Her eyes scanned the audience… and found only Nic.

Nic scratched his head, awkwardly. "So… I'm the only one here? Seriously?."

But Monica didn't hesitate. She launched into her performance like a true professional, singing and dancing as if the room was full. Her voice rang out, clear and strong, her moves full of energy.

When the song ended, Nic clapped. "That was great! Even with just me here, you went all in. I wonder why it's so empty. You're really good."

Monica gave a small, polite smile and bowed slightly before walking offstage.

---

Backstage, her manager greeted her sharply. "See? I told you. You should've just joined the main stage with the others."

Monica didn't respond.

"You're wasting your time and energy on this," he went on.

Monica finally spoke, quietly but firmly, "I don't care. At least this time… someone watched. And clapped."

The manager sighed heavily and walked off. "You should quit the industry while you still can."

Left alone, Monica sat on a bench, staring blankly at the floor.

---

Meanwhile, Nic was still hanging around the venue when he saw Monica come out looking downcast. He walked over and said, "That performance earlier? It was really good."

They introduced themselves. Monica gave him a small smile, but her eyes were still tired. "Thanks."

As she turned to leave, Nic spoke again, "Do you want help?"

Monica stopped. "Help? With what?"

"I can help you become a well-known idol. One that gets watched by more than just one guy."

She eyed him suspiciously. "Why would you want to help me?"

Nic smiled. "Let's just say I have the ability. If you don't believe me, test me. I can play instruments, sing—we could do a duet if you want."

After a pause, Monica finally said, "Alright then. Come with me to my parents' café. There's a piano there."

Nic nodded, and off they went.

---

At the café, Monica's parents greeted them warmly. Her mom asked, "Who's your friend, Monica?"

"He's the only person who watched my concert tonight," Monica replied.

Nic gave a polite nod. "Mind if I try the piano?"

They agreed, still a bit curious.

Nic sat down, and using his God of Musical Instrument skill—courtesy of Melody—his fingers danced over the keys. A beautiful, enchanting melody filled the café.

Monica and her parents were stunned. Even the café guests stopped eating to watch, slowly gathering around.

As the song built momentum, energy filled the room. By the end, the café erupted in applause.

Nic stood up and looked at Monica. "So? Still doubting?"

Monica was amazed. "You're serious about this?"

"I am," Nic replied with confidence.

After thinking for a moment, Monica finally said, "Alright. Let's try it. I'll work with you."

---

They spent days practicing, preparing a performance for the rival stage—the one where big-name idols usually performed.

Monica warned, "If the crowd doesn't like me, I won't be allowed to perform here again. That's the rule."

Nic tilted his head. "What kind of dumb rule is that? Anyway, I'll make sure we win them over."

When their turn came, Monica was nervous. But Nic, using his God of Charisma skill from Olivia, exuded a powerful, graceful aura. Everyone backstage turned to watch him pass.

One girl whispered, "Why is a guy like that performing with Monica?"

Once on stage, the audience was quiet, unsure of what to expect.

Nic struck a loud chord on his guitar. The sound was sharp and bold, grabbing attention immediately. Monica began singing a high-energy pop rock song, with more power than she'd ever shown.

The crowd started getting into it. Soon, they were waving glow sticks and cheering. Monica gave it her all, dancing and singing with everything she had.

She glanced at Nic, who was playing guitar with fierce focus. His charisma lit up the stage. He joined her in singing, and their voices blended beautifully.

By the end of the set, the audience erupted in cheers. Guys were starstruck by Monica. Girls were screaming for Nic.

---

Backstage, Monica's old manager came running. "I can't believe it… You actually pulled this off. You both are amazing. I'm offering you a spot in the main idol group. You can skip all the solo stuff and go big right away."

But Monica shook her head. "Becoming an idol is my dream. But I can't do it without Nic. So… I'm turning it down."

The manager was stunned. But Monica didn't care. She had proved herself.

She and Nic left the building together.

---

Outside, Nic asked, "So, you're really going with my idea?"

Monica nodded. "Yeah. I want to join your agency. You *do* have one, right?"

Nic laughed. "It's just an idea right now. But you're quick to make decisions."

Monica smiled, full of faith. "I know it's the right one. I trust you."

Nic nodded. "Alright then. You're officially the first member of Unity Agency. Let's make something amazing."

With a brand-new spark of motivation, the two set off to chase their dreams—together.
