Chronicles of Forgotten Extra

Chapter 241: Chaos Loves You.

In a classroom filled with students, a black-haired boy sat with his head resting on his hand.

Class was about to begin. Most of the seats were filled. Yet the room felt empty.

Alden knew why. The ruins attack had claimed too many first-years.

Aziel, ever the loudmouth, sat one row ahead.

"You know, bro, and then what happened…"

Aziel was at it again—bragging about his spiritual awakening.

Alden had stopped counting after the sixth time. Or maybe the seventh.

No—definitely the tenth.

Fucking ten.

Cecilia cheered again at the exact same part.

Tsk. People in love are crazy.

And one such lunatic sat right next to him.

Amyra.

She'd been staring at him nonstop for the last ten minutes. Not even pretending to be subtle anymore.

Alden exhaled. He didn't know how to deal with this.

He'd had a girlfriend in his previous life—Elene. His only one. His childhood friend. The one person who truly understood him.

So when it came to feelings like these… he was clueless.

He told himself Amyra's crush would fade soon. That it wasn't serious. But it didn't make it any easier to face.

He turned toward her.

She pulled her head away, face flushing red.

"…Do you need something, Amyra?" he asked, his voice calm.

"Uh… mm. No," she said quickly.

Alden blinked.

Fuck. What do I even say when she denies it like that?

Did I misread it?

…No. He wasn't that dense.

Alden only found Nyx somewhat normal within his friends group of lunatics.

There was stress on the word 'somewhat' for a reason. She wasn't completely sane either.

She had already given her recommendation on ten different restaurants, their famous dish and the vibe.

So, yeah… The blue eyed girl wasn't normal either.

Why am I surrounded by weirdos?

He honestly didn't have any idea.

Then there was another weirdo glaring at him like Alden owed him some money.

What the hell is with that guy?

Zephyr had been glaring at Alden ever since he had arrived.

After the third sigh… Alden just gave up and pulled his ManaSync out, trying to ignore the chaos around him.

But unfortunately… Chaos was too deeply in love with him to let him go just yet.

Finally, it was time for the class.

Alden looked ahead. He was curious to see the new professor.

Aziel had told him about what happened.

Sorin got fired.

It's always diligent and dedicated guys who get fired.

Sorin was the perfect professor. He deeply cared for everyone and yet… he was held responsible for the deaths of students.

Such an unfortunate fate.

Alden had heard about the new teacher.

"Bro, she is smoking hot." That was the only description Aziel had given him.

Alden wasn't stupid.

The professor was female.

Vanyaa was within the academy and she even said that Cipher had infiltrated the academy.

That all sounded like a weird coincidence.

Unless… The professor was Cipher herself. Alden was ninety-nine percent sure of his assumption.

I'll find out in a minute anyways.

Alden mused. His eyes focused on the class entrance.

__

Cipher entered the first year class building. She was running slightly late due to her idiotic daughter.

She had run off somewhere in the morning without telling her. So, she had to find and drag her back.

Vanyaa, that little girl… When will she understand that not everything is flowers and butterflies?

Cipher sighed.

Her daughter was innocent… too innocent for this cold and cruel world. She hadn't seen the cruelty of humans yet.

She hadn't tasted betrayal. Hadn't seen what people were capable of.

Not yet.

And if Cipher had her way… she never would.

Still, a part of her wished Vanyaa would grow up. Just a little. Enough to be cautious. To survive.

Cipher left her apartment only after making sure… Vanyaa wouldn't be able to go wandering again.

After making sure her attire and the effect of the artifact was perfect… Cipher entered the class.

She walked with silent grace, her ponytail swaying behind her.

Her tail and cat ears were hidden perfectly by artifact.

The students greeted her immediately.

"Good Morning." She greeted them back.

Her gaze scanned the whole class as it stopped on one particular student for a moment.

One with black hair and red eyes.

A grin threatened to appear on her lips but she suppressed it.

So, the little thief is back.

The boy smirked at her.

Cipher was surprised for a moment.

Huh? How did he recognise me?

The artifact should still be working.

Oh—right… Vanyaa must've told him I was in academy and with the sloppy fake name… it would've been easy for him to guess.

__

So, she really is Cipher.

Alden smirked, looking at the gorgeous professor that had just entered the class.

Deep Violet eyes matching her hair colour perfectly. A sharp black blazer hugged her form, layered over a crisp white shirt tucked neatly into tailored dark jeans — professional, yet dangerously stylish.

She looked stunning.

But Alden saw a slightly different scene.

He saw the soft twitch of her hidden ears. The lazy sway of her tail.

He didn't know what spell or artifact Cipher used for disguise but it sure wasn't effective against his [Voidheart] which ignored all illusions.

But the question burning in his mind wasn't who. It was why.

Why would a member of the Luminous Accord—a top-level agent—go undercover as a professor in some academy?

And at such a significant position as homeroom professor of Class A too.

What was so important here?

Was it him?

No… it couldn't be. Could it?

He narrowed his eyes slightly.

It must be some mission related to organisation.

Alden could guess that much.

Because creating a fake identity that even Jeremy wouldn't suspect was not something even Cipher could do without help of the organisation.

Alden didn't know what was happening.

There were too many pieces.

Too many shadows behind the curtain.

Alden leaned back in his seat, his gaze still locked on Cipher.

Her eyes had moved on from him, her expressions unreadable as always.

But one thing was certain—

The game had already begun.
