Chapter 127 - 127 A Glimmer of Hope

Chapter 127: Chapter 127 A Glimmer of Hope

Her expression stiffened, and before she could react, the car door opened and Ding Ruolan emerged from beneath the umbrella. Only then did she realize the ultimate purpose of those men in black holding wooden sticks.

This Ding Ruolan, she actually dared to flout the law so egregiously!?

As the men in black wielding sticks rapidly closed in on her, Gu Qiangwei regained her senses, her expression changing drastically as she abruptly turned and ran!

This Ding Ruolan was so cruel and vicious—if she were caught by these people, how could she possibly stand a chance? She would be beaten to death!

“Don’t let her get away!”

Watching the fleeing figure, Ding Ruolan’s eyes turned fierce, and she issued another command!

Upon hearing this, several men in black immediately quickened their pace, all rushing towards Gu Qiangwei’s retreating back!

The rain was getting heavier, blending with the night to swallow the entire bustling Jingcheng.

Behind her, Ding Ruolan, standing still, slightly curled her lips upward as she watched the persistent figures in pursuit.

A mere new assistant dared to compete with her, Ding Ruolan? She was digging her own grave!

Faced with the relentless pursuit of the men in black, Gu Qiangwei desperately sped up her steps, but the large raindrops quickly blurred her vision.

On a rainy night, with no one around in the residential area and amid the torrential rain, even if she screamed for help, there might be no one to hear her. Her only slim chance of survival was to escape from this villa district!

But she felt no confidence in her heart, uncertain if Ding Ruolan’s men would continue to swing their clubs at her after she ran out of the neighborhood.

Suddenly, a powerful light beamed from around the corner ahead, and the blinding high beams made it impossible for Gu Qiangwei to open her eyes, slowing her steps.

And that moment of panic gave the pursuing demons behind her their chance!

No sooner had her pace slowed than a severe pain struck her back. Unable to bear the blow, she let out a muffled groan, her expression one of agony as her slender body collapsed into the rain, submitted to the assault of the rain.

The heavy strike caused Gu Qiangwei, lying in the rain, to gradually lose clarity of consciousness.

No, she couldn’t just be beaten to death…

Her strong will to survive made her clench her fists and, enduring the excruciating pain, she pushed herself up from the ground!

However, as she looked up, a violent blow was coming straight at her head—

Gu Qiangwei’s eyes widened in horror, her expression changed drastically, and from somewhere, she mustered the strength to raise her hands and catch the stick, pushing the man in black back with all the might she could gather!

Perhaps it was the rain that blurred his vision, but when the man in black was pushed and stumbled backwards, he happened to knock down several others behind him!

Surrounded by danger, Gu Qiangwei seized the opportunity to scramble up and run forward into the downpour.

It was only upon standing that she felt the full force of that previous strike, the pain seeming to pierce through her spine, to the very bone!

“Quick, chase after her! Don’t let her escape!”

Watching the scene unfold before her, Ding Ruolan stood in the pouring rain, holding her umbrella, irate and with a menacing gaze fixed on Gu Qiangwei who had once again fled.

At her command, the men in black finally steadied themselves and chased after Gu Qiangwei’s figure once more!

“Ugh!”

As the headlights of a car nearby drew closer, Gu Qiangwei thought she might at least have a fighting chance.

But just as the thought flashed through her mind, her foot suddenly slipped—

With a thump!

Her brow furrowed, and enduring the severe pain, she fell once more into the rain.
