Chapter 334: Leave the Rest to the Sixth Sense
"Damn it, really? Did I run out of attempts already?"
Bavanzi immediately panicked upon seeing the message: [Simulation attempts for today have been exhausted].
"Noktna Rey already sneaked away with Guinevere in the fate simulator, and now she's gone and used up all the attempts? This is way too much! Why hog it all to herself?!"
"Sigh..."
Upon hearing this, Artoria silently looked up at the sky before finally saying:
"She's like that."
After all, she was Bavanzi's best friend, and she knew exactly what kind of person she was. When it came to emotions, Noktna Rey was the type who would take everything for herself and never share.
"Oh, so she's like that too? Well, no worries then."
If it weren't for the fact that she couldn't just kick Bavanzi out, Artoria would've found a way to do it long ago.
But now... maybe, just maybe, it would be better for both of them to help each other.
Not to mention Noktna Rey's incessant sneaking, at least without Lancelot, they probably would've already lost their team in the simulation.
It was all so confusing. That annoying dragon, Lancelot, had started out trying to kill Bavanzi, but when Guinevere intervened, all her hatred transferred to him. And Bavanzi, not caring about anything, wanted to kill Guinevere.
Every time Artoria thought about it, she got even angrier and couldn't help but shout:
"Seriously, is she insane?"
"Huh? Who are you talking about?" Bavanzi asked, blinking. After seeing Artoria's furious expression, she quickly thought it through and guessed:
"You're talking about that stupid dragon, aren't you?"
It had to be Lancelot. Noktna Rey, despite being despicable, wouldn't have made Artoria this mad.
"Yeah," Artoria turned her head and said, "It's really frustrating... Now we can't use the simulator, and what are we going to do when that dumb dragon tries to mess with us in real life?"
"Aren't you the one with that experimental time drive?" Bavanzi asked. "You said you could turn into a different version of yourself from an alternate future. That's pretty impressive, right?"
"If it's a direct fight, I'm not afraid," Artoria sighed. "But Lancelot won't fight us head-on, will she? You know how shameless she is. In the simulator, she couldn't win a direct fight. In reality, she'll probably ambush us from the shadows, and that's hard to defend against. I'm worried I won't even have time to transform."
"True..." Bavanzi sighed, feeling a little defeated. But she quickly cheered up again.
"No, wait! With me around, what are we afraid of?"
Saying this, her face lit up with excitement:
"Leave it to me, I've got a plan!"
She raised her hand and flashed the Ring of Swiftness on her finger.
"If we can't fight, let's just run! No matter how fast Lancelot is, she can't outrun us if we teleport!"
Looking at Bavanzi's ring, Artoria suddenly had an epiphany.
"Right!"
"The sky's almost light," Bavanzi continued cheerfully, "Although this ring charges slowly and will probably take a long time to recharge after one use... But who cares? As long as we teleport somewhere, let's see how long it'll take Lancelot to find us!"
Bavanzi's face grew even more excited as she spoke:
"Alright then, Artoria! Go wake up Guinevere and Oberon, and let's decide on a place to teleport right away. Wait, Artoria, what are you doing?"
Seeing Artoria suddenly get enthusiastic and run off in a particular direction, leaving footprints on the ground, Bavanzi was confused.
"Uh, I'm trying to leave some footprints to mislead Lancelot," Artoria explained. "Since we're teleporting away anyway, why not throw her off track and make her follow the wrong trail?"
With that, Artoria ran a short distance, then walked back over her previous tracks, before continuing in another direction.
"Bavanzi, stop staring and come help with the footprints!"
"Wait, are you crazy?" Bavanzi complained. "What's the point of leaving a few fake footprints? Do you expect to walk all the way to the Venous Corridor like that? Lancelot might be stupid, but if she sees your footprints suddenly disappear, she'll realize something's off!"
"Well, after putting on the Sixth Sense Amplifier badge, I have this feeling it might work," Artoria said.
"Don't mention that stupid badge!" Bavanzi snapped. "The Sixth Sense isn't reliable! What if Lancelot catches us while you're just walking around? She could be on top of us any second!"
"Yeah, you're right..." Artoria paused, realizing Bavanzi had a point and gave up on the fake footprints idea.
"Alright, then let's just wake up Oberon and Guinevere and get going!"
Meanwhile, after leaving Camelot, Lancelot quickly sped back towards the entrance of the Venous Corridor near New Darlington.
Since in the last simulation, Guinevere and the others took this route, it was likely they wouldn't be far from the entrance right now.
After confirming with Morgan that Guinevere was indeed Yusei, Lancelot rushed back as quickly as possible.
Upon reaching the forest near the entrance, she immediately sensed a powerful magical energy.
"Could it be that Yusei and the others have encountered monsters and are fighting?"
Her eyes lit up, and she immediately flew towards the source of the magical energy.
"If that's the case, I hope they're up against some really powerful monsters. Even though the most powerful monsters in this area wouldn't be able to defeat Yusei and his group, they could still cause enough trouble to keep them here. That way, I can swoop in, play the hero, rescue Yusei from the monsters, slay the beast, and show my goodwill. Then I'll apologize to Yusei and explain everything... Yusei is such a good person, I'm sure he'll forgive me once he understands!"
After all, her past actions, though foolish, had mostly taken place in the simulator. In reality, Yusei had no idea about any of it.
And since he didn't know, it was as if it had never happened. From Yusei's perspective, they'd only had one fight in New Darlington. Given his good nature, once she helped him and apologized, Yusei would probably forgive her.
Feeling determined, Lancelot pushed her speed to the max.
However, when she arrived at the location of the magical energy, there was no sign of a battle. Instead, she saw an ordinary camp, with the still-warm ashes of the campfire showing it had only recently burned out.
"So, they were here," Lancelot thought, then began to investigate the area.
She quickly found a set of scattered footprints. Excited, she began to follow them. But just after she had walked a little ways, the ground suddenly shook, and when she looked up, she saw a giant stone guardian.
Upon seeing Lancelot, the guardian immediately swung its huge stone sword at her.
"Why didn't you come earlier to help me play the hero? What are you doing now?!" she grumbled.
With a loud crash, she immediately became a streak of light and collided with the guardian.
After a heavy thud, the guardian staggered back, crashing into trees and breaking several of them before stopping. In its chest was a deep gash surrounded by cracks.
But Lancelot wasn't satisfied with this result at all.
In fact, she was more than just unsatisfied... she was furious.
The guardian was made of stone, and its lack of flesh made it hard for her cutting style to be effective. But the real problem was something else:
The few steps the guardian had taken backward had trampled all over the trail of footprints.
"Get away from the traces it left!" Lancelot yelled, raising her hand, a red lightning gathering around it, forming into a blade. But just before she could strike, she paused and retracted her hand.
No, if she struck, she'd destroy any remaining clues. The ground would be tossed around, and how could she possibly track Guinevere and the others after that?
Even though using Thunderclaw would make her strong enough to quickly destroy the guardian... if she did that, she'd end up attacking Yusei first!
She couldn't let that happen, not again!
Realizing this, Lancelot couldn't afford to waste more time. She gritted her teeth and charged straight at the guardian again.
Minutes later, looking at the wreckage around her, Lancelot felt like crying.
"All the clues are gone..."
"How could this guardian be so annoying?"
She had no trouble defeating it, but she never expected it to start running once it realized it couldn't beat her.
And the direction it ran in? Straight toward the footprints.
At this point, all the clues vanished as the guardian trampled everything in its path.
Though Lancelot eventually killed it, all traces were gone.
"No... calm down, Meluchina. This isn't the time to give up."
She gritted her teeth and looked ahead.
Even though she couldn't find any more footprints, she remembered where they had been heading—toward the Venous Corridor entrance.
Since the probability of Yusei and the others heading into the Venous Corridor in real life was still high, Lancelot charged forward, hoping to find them.
"Wait for me, Yusei! I'll be there to protect you and make sure you face no more danger!"
With renewed determination, Lancelot sped off toward the entrance.
