Chapter 28: The Scythe of Creation
Shinsui's POV
The underground forge was illuminated by a soft, ethereal glow. Faint embers floated in the air, remnants of five years of relentless work. The heat of the forge had long since faded, leaving only the hum of residual energy coursing through the massive scythe resting before me.
I exhaled slowly, eyes tracing the intricate patterns carved into its dark metal. The long, curved blade gleamed, an otherworldly luster reflecting the energy contained within. The handle stretched taller than an average man, forged from a combination of metals and materials not found in this world alone.
This was no ordinary weapon.
For five years, I had poured my knowledge and power into its creation, testing, refining, and reshaping it over and over again. It was not simply meant to cut—it was meant to create.
The foundation of this weapon was simple yet profound: absorption. Natural energy flowed through all things—land, air, water, even the stars above. This scythe would gather that energy, channeling it inward, not to be used for destruction, but for growth.
And within its core, a world was being born.
I gripped the handle, lifting it effortlessly despite its imposing size. The metal was cool to the touch, but beneath the surface, I could feel the pulse of something… alive.
Yes. The world inside was still in its infancy, but it was forming. Unlike other artificial realms, which depended on outside sources of energy, this one would be self-sufficient. It would nurture itself, grow, evolve—an endless cycle, a perfect ecosystem built within the confines of this weapon.
It was more than a tool. It was a foundation. A seed from which something far greater could emerge.
I let out a small chuckle, spinning the scythe in my grip. The motion felt natural, as if the weapon had already attuned itself to me.
"This… this is the beginning."
The air around me shifted as a familiar presence approached.
Mito stepped into the chamber, her red hair flowing behind her, her sharp eyes immediately locking onto the scythe. "So, you've finally completed it."
I nodded, resting the weapon against my shoulder. "It took longer than expected, but it's finally ready."
She walked closer, studying the engravings. "It's beautiful… but it's more than just a weapon, isn't it?"
A smirk played at my lips. "Of course. This isn't just meant for battle. This is a step toward something greater. A world that doesn't rely on the natural energy of this world—a realm that can sustain itself."
Mito crossed her arms. "And what exactly are you planning to do with it?"
I met her gaze, my expression unreadable. "That depends on the world."
She sighed, shaking her head. "You always think ahead, don't you?"
"Someone has to." I twirled the scythe once before planting its base against the ground. "This is only the first step. What comes next will determine everything."
Mito studied me for a moment before nodding. "Then let's hope it's a step worth taking."
The scythe hummed in response, as if acknowledging the weight of those words.
And with that, a new path had been forged.
