Crossover Shipgirls: Building a Dimensional Empire from Scratch

Chapter 66: Second-Playthrough Player Speedruns the Dungeon

"Umu, where is this?"

Nero Claudius stepped into Yat Sen's ship, her face full of confusion.

For an emperor from the first century, everything inside the starship seemed like alien technology.

"And who art thou?"

She looked toward Setsuna, as well as the assembled Heroic Spirits and shipgirls.

"We're from another world, here to fix the bugs in this one," Setsuna explained, giving Nero a brief overview of their purpose.

"Is that so?"

As one of the key figures in this Singularity, Nero had gained a level of divine protection akin to that of a Heroic Spirit.

This allowed her to grasp the situation fairly quickly.

"I am Nero Claudius, the fifth emperor of the Roman Empire," she said with regal authority.

"This is my country, yet suddenly, a swarm of people claiming to be emperors have appeared and launched attacks on the empire.

"They've taken over nearly half the territory, my forces are insufficient to fight them all!"

Nero scratched her head in frustration.

In this Singularity, the Holy Grail had summoned a host of Roman emperors from history, each leading their own armies in a chaotic free-for-all.

Given the historical significance of the Roman Empire, its collapse would cause severe distortions to humanity's timeline.

"Don't worry, I'm here to help."

"We'll take out those impostors together, secure the Holy Grail, and restore history."

Setsuna clapped Nero on the shoulder, his confidence born from a thorough understanding of the Singularity's plotline and how to resolve it.

"Oh?"

The golden-haired girl hesitated for a moment, then nodded thoughtfully.

Although she didn't understand the specifics of the starship, its display of power earlier made its strength undeniable.

Quickly regaining her imperial demeanor, Nero declared,

"Umu! For your outstanding service, I shall reward you."

"Help me defeat my enemies, and I shall appoint you as the governor of the Roman Empire…"

"Stop right there!"

Setsuna cut her off, raising a hand.

"Who wants to be a governor in your primitive empire?!"

"When this is all over, you can come to my world, and I'll show you what real advancement looks like.""

"By the way, let me introduce you to some of your colleagues."

The Heroic Spirits and shipgirls stepped forward to greet Nero.

"This is the King of Knights of Britain, and this is the Saint of France."

"And I am Yat Sen, the first flagship of the Dragon Empery Navy."

The shipgirls couldn't help but glance repeatedly at Artoria, Nero, and Jeanne d'Arc.

They all looked like triplets.

Not just their hair color and facial features, but even the ahoge sprouting from their heads was identical.

"Umu, are you barbarians here to restore Rome as well?"

Nero looked at Artoria and Jeanne d'Arc with a curious gaze.

In her era, Britain and Gaul were lands of uncivilized savages.

"And Dragon Empery? I've heard that the Qin Empire is also a strong nation."

"I wonder, how does it compare to the Roman Empire?"

"Umu, I'd love to spar with the Emperor of Qin."

"…"

Setsuna couldn't help but sigh at the whimsical nature of this emperor.

"First of all, in terms of technological advancement, you are the barbarian."

"Secondly, Emperor Qin Shi Huang exists in a Lostbelt. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't stand a chance against him…"

Yat Sen's starship carried the eight of them, flying from Rome toward Gaul.

Following the planned strategy, Setsuna decided to first eliminate the inexplicably summoned emperors and correct the timeline.

Afterward, they would storm the capital of the United City Alliance, recover the Holy Grail, and finally summon and gather Heroic Spirits to take back home.

The starship's advanced technology left Nero with a mixture of awe and curiosity.

Over the plains of southern Gaul, Nero looked down at a marching Roman legion with a reverent expression:

"Caligula?! My uncle?! The third emperor of the Roman Empire?!"

"He's been summoned too?!"

A Heroic Spirit clad in bronze armor and draped in a red cape was leading the troops.

His resolute expression marked him as a seasoned general.

"That's a Berserker?"

Jeanne d'Arc instantly identified his class, her Ruler abilities allowing her to sense Heroic Spirits.

"Yat Sen."

Setsuna gently tapped Yat Sen's shoulder.

Whoosh—

A barrage of missiles launched from the starship's armed wings, trailing plumes of fire as they streaked toward the Roman legion below.

Boom!

The ground erupted with mushroom clouds.

When the smoke cleared, not even ashes remained.

Nero: "…"

"That's Julius Caesar! The founder of the Roman Empire!

"Although he never took the title of emperor, his political and military acumen are among the greatest in Rome's history—"

Before Nero could finish, she spotted another Heroic Spirit below—a rather portly figure.

The starship showed no intention of slowing down.

Boom, boom, boom!

A few rounds of ship cannon fire later, Julius Caesar was obliterated without ever seeing his enemy's face.

Nero: "At least let me finish talking… This makes me look so dumb…"

Half an hour later.

At a Roman military fortress.

"That is the fourth emperor of the Roman Empire. They're hiding inside the fortress, seemingly constructing siege weapons. This emperor is—"

Zzzz—BOOM!!!

The positron breaker cannon leveled the fortress and everything within a radius of several kilometers.

The starship then accelerated and disappeared into the distance.

"Ababababa…"

Nero stared at Yat Sen and Setsuna with a dazed expression.

When she first heard Setsuna mention that he managed a nation himself, she dismissed it as bravado.

After all, in her understanding, the Roman Empire was the most powerful entity in the world.

Nations bowed before it, tribes submitted to its rule.

But the might of this spacefaring warship shattered her beliefs.

"Is this how wars are fought where you're from?"

Floating in the skies, effortlessly erasing mountains, cities, or even entire nations?

"Is this how you fast-track through the world?"

So terrifying.

Where am I?

I don't want to be emperor anymore—I want to go home.

Thousands of kilometers away, in the capital of the United City Alliance, a man in a green coat and matching hat stood in a grand palace, his expression a mix of madness and gloom.

Lev Lainur Flauros.

The mastermind behind the destruction of Chaldea, a Grand Bomb Maker, and the one who summoned the Roman emperors to battle Nero, aiming to distort this era's history.

He was channeling mana and communing with the Holy Grail.

"All the Roman emperors I summoned have been defeated?!"

Quickly, he realized something incomprehensible.

"Could it be Chaldea's Master?"

"No… Judging by how swiftly they're being eliminated, there's more than one Master?!"

The summoned Servants were dispersed across various regions—North Africa, Western Europe, the Mediterranean...

And within two days, every single one had been annihilated.

Not only that, but the attacks were surgical strikes, perfectly targeting the locations of the emperors, delivering instant kills, and retreating without hesitation.

There was no wasted effort—it was deliberate, calculated, and incredibly precise, as though their sole objective was to come for him.

An uneasy feeling took root in Lev's heart.

How bizarre. When he detonated Chaldea and encountered Ritsuka Fujimaru in Fuyuki, they didn't have access to this level of power!

But as long as he could wield the Holy Grail, he could summon an infinite number of Servants.

With that thought, Lev poured more mana into the summoning circle, reciting an invocation.

Shuuuu—

A flash of white light.

A Heroic Spirit emerged—a warrior clad in a crimson cloak, wearing a full-faced helmet. One hand gripped a spear, the other a shield.

It was none other than Leonidas I, the King of Sparta.

A master of defense, capable of summoning the legendary 300 Spartans of Thermopylae to fight alongside him.

"You will guard this city," Lev commanded.

"Do not let anyone suspicious approach—especially any Masters."

Lev was about to issue further instructions when suddenly:

Vrrrrrmmm—

A deep engine roar reverberated through the air outside.

Whiiiiiz—BOOOOOM!!!

Two missiles streaked across the sky and slammed into the palace, blowing half of it into rubble.

Cough—cough—

Protected by defensive magecraft and the shield of his summoned Servants, Lev stood unharmed amidst the swirling dust and debris.

Looking up, he saw a massive, sleek, blue-green starship hovering ominously in the air.

Inside its bridge, Setsuna stood, gazing down with a calm, calculating look.

"Starships really are efficient. Huh, so much faster than the first Singularity," Setsuna remarked with casual satisfaction.

With this kind of ship capable of high-speed maneuvers within the atmosphere and delivering devastating strikes, the rest of the Singularities could be solved with maximum efficiency.

No unnecessary steps. No delays. Straight to the point.

"That green-hatted scum... I've met him before! Back at the Fuyuki Singularity!"

"He's the one who caused the explosion at Chaldea! He killed Director Olga!"

Gudako, her eyes blazing with fury, pointed at Lev.

Without waiting for further orders, she leapt from Yat Sen's starship, piloting her Barbatos mecha.

Boosters flared, and she gripped a massive ten-meter-long spear-hammer, barreling straight toward Lev with terrifying speed.

"Wha—?!" Lev stumbled back, staring in utter disbelief at the incoming sight.

"What… what even is that thing?!"

The hulking mecha was covered with glowing, multi-colored lights—obviously laden with countless enchantments and enhancements.

This was beyond anything Lev had ever encountered.

"I'm the Master of Chaldea!!! DIE!!!"

Gudako roared as she dove down.

—Strength Enhancement—

—Agility Enhancement—

—Mana Reinforcement—

—Structural Fortification—

Layer after layer of buffs from her training under Lucoa flared across the mecha.

With a battle cry, she swung the massive hammer down.

BOOOOM—CRAAAAACK!

The palace's remaining half was obliterated. Dust, stone, and debris scattered in every direction, leaving the once-grand structure a smoldering wreck.

"What…?!"

For the first time, Lev felt completely out of his depth.

He looked up at the towering, twenty-meter mecha wreathed in glowing magic, holding a hammer large enough to crush buildings.

"This… THIS is the Master of Chaldea?!"
