Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Nightmare
Welt Yang…
From an objective perspective, he handled things badly. He is quite the incompetent First Herrscher compared to Welt Joyce. His defeat against the Sirin is quite arguable since Otto the shit-stirrer caused it. But then, Welt's situation deteriorated further when he had to contain Kevin inside the Sea of Quanta.
By the time Bronya inherited his Herrscher Core, he remained at the sidelines. That remained until he got sent outside the solar system where Aeons lie.
Welt Yang did not use his power well. He could have solved a lot of things if he learned how to properly create a fission bomb. That would have been a killer he could have used on many occasions.
Still, when it comes to being trustable, Welt Yang takes the top spot. His sole agenda is to carry on Welt Joyce's ideals and lead humanity to defeat the honkai—all the whilst considering other human lives.
In short, I can safely place my bets on him.
"It is an operation taught to me by my teacher."
"Operation?"
She speaks in English.
"It converts all kinds of free energy within independent work systems. The converted energy, including honkai energy, can be used to strengthen one's body and perform various feats."
A look of shock appeared on Tesla's face. She understood the complicated jargon I spoke out. I didn't have to ooga-booga it like the time I explained it to Kiana.
I mean, the simplest explanation is it converting other energies into spiritual qi, just that not all can be converted.
That sufficed for Kiana.
"Are you serious?"
"Yes."
"..."
"How does it… No." She asked further. "Did you… your teacher teach you why it works?"
Perhaps she thought of me as a mouthpiece (i.e., student who does not understand things), Tesla changed her way of addressing me.
"No. It works by running a set of formula… phrases."
"..."
I am familiar with Kiana's skeptical look. Tesla gave me just that. It took a while for her to regain composure.
"It's best if we talk it over somewhere else."
She said as she started heading to the hatch. Her wrist lit up, projecting a plain blue interface. After some fiddling, the phone inside my pocket rang.
What the f...
"I will contact you using that. Let's talk it over in person."
"...You trust me?"
"Siegfried's daughter trusts you. That's enough."
"..."
'Siegfried… He's that reliable in their eyes?'
With my newfound discovery over Siegfried's actual reputation, I watched as the huge red Titan mecha got swallowed by dark blue light.
Moments later, it was gone.
'Teleportation!'
Today, I did not only learn about Gundam. I also saw teleportation at work.
I pulled out the phone in my pocket. I found an unknown number on my call logs.
"Anti-Entropy…"
*****
Tonight's chaos is over. The town was taken care of by Kiana and I. Its surroundings… I guess Cocolia's forces cleaned them up.
The ones struck the strongest by this calamity…
[Schicksal took care of it. Anti-Entropy has no place in Siberia on the surface. Cocolia took care of your matters.]
Tesla replied twenty five minutes after our meeting. Considering teleportation, it's a very convenient skill to have. Though, I feel it has restrictions. I will find that out later.
"Honkai…"
Before, I prefer to focus on cultivation. Honkai and whatnot, I tried to throw it off the grid. It helped that it did not show up as often as I expected.
Meeting Tesla…
I feel the need to delve further to it.
Why does a small amount of honkai energy produce a good amount of spiritual qi?
Why does Seele have something similar to a dao rhyme present in Purple Mansion Realm and above?
Why does Kiana's Herrscher Core produce spiritual qi when not even Cocolia's scanning instruments caught high levels of honkai energy from her?
Why…
…
I will deal with it later.
There's no use worrying now.
I became clearheaded once I stepped inside the orphanage's premises. Some of the uncles who worked as guards asked where I went. Some of them also noticed Kiana's disappearance.
I waited at the gate until she came back.
Kiana is immovable when it comes to upholding the Kaslana Oath—the one that protects the weak. It plays a huge part in developing her recklessness.
Looking at her somewhat depressed look, I had an impression as to what happened.
"How was it?"
"...There are people I failed to help."
"Think of the people you helped. Don't disregard them."
"..."
She gave me another side eye before moving her gaze away.
"Um."
…
Is there something wrong with me?

*
My surroundings are hazy.
…
Only stillness and silence are present.
…
My eyes opened up. I am greeted by a blurry and hazy vision. I can't see these peoples' faces. I am in some sort of burning place. The architecture and layout…
…
Schicksal?
It eerily looks like Schicksal's floating base.
Bam-!
Bam-!
My ears felt like they were drowning in water. I can't hear much except the apparent explosions. The ground I am sitting on shook.
The next sensation tickled me.
I looked down. It is a dark black… thing. I traced it further until I could no longer lift my head down.
Oh.
It's my chest.
My entire body feels numb aside from the occasional tickling feeling. I tried to move my arms but to no avail.
Tap.
Tap.
I see someone walking towards me. No one else is present around. It looks like a girl… with white attire.
My sight remained blurry and hazy as ever. Darkness threatened to spread further from the edges.
"A pathetic…"
In contrast to everything, I heard this voice very well. It is crystal crisp, with a hint of… condemnation.
"Die, worm."
The moment my sight completely darkened, a drowning sensation swept through everything.
…
An unknown amount of time passed.
I forced my eyelids to open.
What greeted me is an unfamiliar… no, familiar ceiling.
The hospital I frequented… It looks the same. My heart disease had not progressed much to undertake the risky heart transplant. I lived through maintenance pills and the likes.
"...woke up!"
Despite my clear vision, the faces of the people around me looked blurry. It formed yet another contrast to the surroundings.
My heart skipped a beat.
Am I dreaming?
My vision burst into blinding white light.
…
My mind became awake.
"Hm…"
The pillow I have in my arms… it's very good. In the orphanage…
Wait.
I don't have a pillow.
My eyes became wide open. The familiar sight of the orphanage greeted me along with a fragrant smell.
I looked at the alarm clock placed on the desk.
7:40 AM.
The desk is the only thing that separates the two beds. I looked on the other bed and found… no one. A portion of white hair appeared at the bottom of my sight.
…
No.
No.
No.
Fucking.
Way.
…
I looked down. The long and messy white hair belonged to the Tuna. Her sleep mask is placed perfectly on her eyes. Her occasional light breathing brushed the shirt I was wearing.
My arms…
I am sleeping sideways. Both my arms are locked on her back. A soft sensation kept pressing on my chest.
…
My heart skipped a beat. I stopped breathing. My eyes turned as wide as it could. My mouth became wide open.
Good lord…
I swallowed the shout I was about to let out. The incredulous feeling of seeing a common anime trope made me utterly speechless.
Why…
Why is Kiana in my bed... again?!
