Cultivating with a Broken System (and No Talent)

Chapter 5: Chapter 6: Its not me...

---

Chapter 6: I'm No Longer Myself...

I walked in silence.

No sound.

No thought.

Only his voice echoing inside my mind.

> "You still think you're a hero? Count how many innocent people you've killed."

I stopped.

My hands trembled. Blood still stained my sleeves.

I raised my hands to my face.

"I… I really killed innocent people?"

I dropped to my knees and cried.

And then that voice returned, cold and amused.

> "You're pitiful. If I had a body of my own, I'd end you myself."

"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! YES—ALL OF IT!!"

I screamed into the void.

But he vanished again.

No more words.

No more laughter.

Only silence.

Or… was it just me?

> "You see it now, don't you? All these people died because of YOU!"

The voice came back—not from outside, but from within my soul.

I collapsed.

Tired.

Broken.

No longer in control.

Sometimes I woke up with blood on my hands and no memory of what happened.

Just the knowledge:

This body is no longer mine.

---

Over the years, countless monks and cultivators tried to stop me.

They called me:

"The Shadow Demon Who Devours Souls."

But they didn't know…

The one who killed them wasn't me.

It was it.

The monster inside.

---

Then, one day, I collapsed—not from injury, but from despair.

I no longer believed I was human.

That was when it returned:

> [System: Choice unlocked – 1. Suppress the second soul. 2. Reincarnate.]

The system finally spoke again after years of silence.

But this time, it didn't command me.

It gave me a choice.

My hands trembled as I stared at the screen.

I already knew the answer.

I just didn't know why.

I made my choice.

Whatever the reason…

This was all my fault.
