Chapter 9: The Guide and the Book of the God

Without the monster…

Without the system…

I finally realized something.

The demonic power I had been relying on… it wasn't truly mine.

It was the monster's regeneration.

It was the system's protection.

Without them, my body should've rotted away long ago.

But then—

Something strange.

My body… began to heal.

Not from his power.

Not from any system.

It was… me.

My own energy.

Not violent. Not corrupted.

Just pure, slow… recovery.

> "So… am I free? For real this time?"

If I asked that out loud, the monster would've mocked me again.

But there was no voice.

No presence.

No bloodlust.

Just silence.

And in that silence, I had a thought:

> Should I start… a sect?

I wasn't sure where the idea came from.

Maybe from the monster's memories.

Maybe from the things he feared.

Maybe from… something else.

So I did something reckless.

I attempted a forbidden cultivation method—one he feared the most.

Pain surged through my veins.

My bones cracked.

My blood boiled.

Then…

Calm.

The demonic energy was burned away.

Replaced by something pure.

I… broke through.

Lesser Body Stage? No.

I ascended—fully, cleanly.

> "This… this is my real beginning."

And that's when I heard it.

A voice.

But not his.

> "Congratulations. You have awakened the Spirit of Rebirth and Restoration."

It was warm. Calm. Gentle.

> "W-Who are you?"

> "I am… the Guide. Nothing more."

> "Guide? What do you want from me?"

> "Your task is to form a sect… and use your power to help others."

> "But I've… killed people. Too many."

> "That does not matter. This mission comes from the one known as ####—"

The name was cut off.

> "What?! Who sent you?"

> "Your level is too low. Transmission interrupted."

> "Wait! Come back—!"

Silence.

But…

Unlike before, the silence felt peaceful.

Was it because I had been manipulated by the monster for so long?

Maybe.

Maybe I was just grateful to hear a voice that didn't scream for blood.

> "What should I do…?"

No answer.

Just thoughts.

And then—a flash of light in front of me.

A book appeared.

When I opened it, I didn't find cultivation techniques.

I found truth.

---

The Book of the God

> "Power is the desire of all living beings. To protect. To destroy. To rule.

I granted it freely. At first, it was simple.

Anyone could wield it.

But over time, it passed through bloodlines.

They had to awaken it. Fight for it."

> "So I created Seven Spirits to watch over the world.

Those who reached godhood—I destroyed them.

For the power was mine alone."

> "But then… he appeared.

A being I could not kill.

I died once more… and was forgotten."

---

> "What the hell… was that?"

The next pages weren't diary entries.

They were blueprints.

For powers I now possessed.

---

Soul Type: Unknown

Among the seven divine souls, two were corrupted.

They turned demonic.

Devouring and evolving beyond divine design.

Power: Bloodline-Based

Some are born gods.

Some awaken through trial.

Some… take it by force.

---

> "So this world… was never about cultivation.

It was gifted power.

And the god who gave it… feared being killed by his own creations."

Just as I finished reading, a voice echoed again:

> "Sir. He has finished the book."

And with that—

The book vanished.
