Chapter 6: From Dream to Reality: Evan’s Journey Begins
As she spoke those words, another person entered the room—a man, or rather, the father of the boy… the father who, worried, came into the room almost immediately after his wife.
William, for that was his name, entered the room with wide eyes. He saw his wife and said, "Honey…" He spoke these words as the woman turned towards him. Her eyes, slightly red from earlier tears, carried a gentle smile, and with a look of concern on her face, she pressed her index finger to her lips, signaling for him to be quiet.
Upon seeing his wife, William immediately understood what had happened… he understood and was deeply worried about their son. He was sad, but he knew he couldn't show it too much. After all, his wife and children were his priority.
After this realization, he took slow, deliberate steps toward the woman who was still standing next to the bed. She remained facing him, knowing what William was about to do. Her emotions—fear, worry, guilt, and concern—all surged inside her at once, and tears began to flow down her face, a face filled with deep care.
Her face began to flush red, and her breath grew heavy. Then, she felt warmth as William approached her, wrapped his arms around her, and whispered softly, "It's okay… it's okay."
Hearing these words, the woman, the mother of the boy who lay in bed, began to cry even harder, her head resting on her husband's shoulder. Her face was filled with worry.
"Sophia, it's okay," he repeated, feeling the wetness of his wife's tears on his clothes. He held her tighter, his voice soothing but full of underlying sadness.
Then, Sophia lifted her head, looking into his eyes, and tried to speak, her words caught in her throat. "William… I… I…" she stammered, but her tears made it hard to continue.
Seeing this, something inside William broke once again. His eyes closed slightly, and a sad smile appeared on his face. He raised one hand, gently placing it on her cheek, and whispered, "I know… I know." His feelings, already heavy, seemed to weigh even more, but he knew he had to remain strong for her and for their family.
Feeling his hand on her face, Sophia felt a slight sense of relief, but her tears still flowed. She looked into his eyes, knowing he too was hurting, though he tried to hide it. She realized that crying wouldn't change anything, but still, she couldn't stop.
After a moment, William raised his hand and, with a small smile, said, "You know, if you keep crying like that, you'll get wrinkles, right?" He said this with a gentle smile, wiping the tears from her face.
Her heart lightened as she heard his words. She knew he was trying to comfort her, to make her smile, but she also knew he was not okay either. Looking into his dark eyes, she whispered, her lips curving into a faint smile, "I know… I know." Her emotions were still strong, but they were more subdued now.
This time, she raised her hand and gently placed it on his cheek, speaking in a tender tone, "William… you don't have to hide it." Her words took him by surprise.
He smiled softly at her, leaned forward, and kissed her on the lips. Afterward, he pulled back and said with a smile, though his voice betrayed the true depth of his feelings, "I know."
Surprised by his kiss, Sophia smiled again, holding her hand on his cheek. He kept his hand on hers, the unspoken understanding between them bringing a brief moment of peace amidst their pain.
Several hours passed…
Evan, still lying in bed, exhausted, suddenly mumbled, "Ammama… ammmam…" He muttered these words softly as he slowly began to wake up, his hand touching his face, and he shifted slightly on the bed.
With his eyes still closed, he sat up and whispered to himself, "That was such a great dream…" He said these words in a tired voice, still with his eyes closed. After a moment, he raised his hand and began rubbing his eyes, slowly opening them.
What he saw next amazed him, and a smile appeared on his face, one that looked like it belonged to someone mentally unbalanced (Ahem—cough!). He then quietly said, excited, "It wasn't a dream! It wasn't a dream!… Hahahaha!" he murmured quietly, laughing slightly with excitement, but then quickly realized what he was doing and quickly shut up.
Scanning the room with eagle-like focus, he breathed out slowly, saying, "Huuu… I need to be more careful." A serious expression crossed his face as he spoke these words.
But suddenly, his mouth opened wide as he remembered the greatest gift from the universe—the System! "Status!" he thought excitedly, with a slight smile, rubbing his hands together.
Suddenly, the Status appeared before his eyes once again.
[STATUS]
[NAME: EVAN SOL]
[RACE: HUMAN]
[BLOODLINE: Sun Dragon (Unawakened)]
[AGE: 9 years / 3 months / 7 days]
[LIFE SPAN: 79 years / 6 months / 19 days]
[CULTIVATION: Energy Grading Realm [1]]
[BODY: Initiate Universal Body]
[GRADE: |Top|Low|]
[...]
.
[SPIRIT ROOT: ELEMENTAL]
[GRADE: |Grand|Mid|]
[...]
He looked at the status and immediately noticed changes. His mouth opened wider, and in his mind, he thought, "Why are there new pieces of information?" But then he suddenly heard a voice—not his own.
[New information has been added due to the system's reactivation.]
"Wtf, what's going on? What's this voice?" he thought loudly in his mind, a bit frightened and confused.
[The host need not worry.]
[The system has been programmed to respond to the host.]
Hearing these words in his mind, realization suddenly dawned on him. His frightened face quickly shifted to one of excitement, and he exclaimed, "Oooooh… I have an AI assistant!" he said, grinning and enjoying the turn of events.
[Exactly.]
The response confirmed his thoughts, and after a moment, another question formed in his mind. "Hmm… So after the system reactivated, new information was added, and I now have an AI assistant, right?" His face showed curiosity, and his eyes were still full of excitement.
[Yes, the host is completely correct.] The system replied flatly.
"Hmm, what else… what else…" he murmured to himself, placing his hand on his head, still thinking of questions as he sat on the bed.
"I have… why were you deactivated?" he asked curiously, tilting his head slightly. Immediately after asking, the system replied.
[The system was partially deactivated due to a lack of energy.]
"Hmm, so that's why… alright, I don't have any more questions for now," he said, and his gaze shifted back to the status, where he noticed more new things.
"Interesting," he whispered, fascinated by the new information. "Now it shows my race, bloodline, and even the name of this body… but why weren't these details here before?" He said this, waiting for an answer but then quickly realized the reason and said, "System?"
[In response to the host's question, earlier information about race or bloodline was considered less important and thus omitted. As for the name of the body, it wasn't provided because the necessary energy was consumed at that time.]
"So, that's why… hmmm," he muttered, still looking at the status with wide, curious eyes, and a continuous sense of excitement. But then suddenly, his eyes widened even more as he noticed another piece of information and immediately asked the system.
"And why were you completely reactivated again?" he said, suspecting the answer but not being completely sure.
[In response to the host, the system was fully reactivated due to an influx of energy caused by the host's breakthrough into the Energy Grading Realm [1].]
His expression remained mostly unchanged, but he said, "I knew it!"
His facial expression didn't change much, but he said, "I knew it!" He uttered these words, then added, "No wonder when I woke up earlier, I felt… more alive and stronger… but how much stronger?"
[The host's body was enhanced due to the breakthrough into the Energy Grading Realm [1].]
A slight frown appeared on his face as he responded, "I know that… but I want to know how much stronger?" He said this, fully aware that his question wasn't exactly precise.
[In response, the host's body has been strengthened roughly twofold, meaning the host now possesses the strength of an average adult human.]
"Hmmm… I expected more, but oh well," he said, slightly disappointed, though he was aware that this was just the beginning. Still lost in thought, he suddenly heard a voice from behind the door.
"Evan, if you're awake, at least eat something," a woman called out gently.
Upon hearing these words, Evan's stomach let out a loud rumble, 'Grumble,' and immediately he muttered to himself, "Man, I'm so hungry… I didn't even notice how much." He said this under his breath, then quickly shouted back, "I'm coming, Mom!" He hurriedly got out of bed and started heading toward the kitchen, unaware of the words he had just spoken.
