Cyberpunk: Mysteries World

Chapter 5: 5

John Smith picked up a long sword that was not too rusty and then picked up a metal shield. Although the metal shield was not rotten like the wooden one, it was very heavy and a little difficult to hold.

After thinking about it, he put down the shield. If he couldn't use the shield flexibly, it would only become a burden and make it easier for him to be killed by a monster.

He continued to walk forward holding the rusty sword. After turning a few passages, there were fewer and fewer bones on the ground, and occasionally even some grass could be seen growing out of the cracks in the bricks.

This made him a little excited because the presence of grass meant there might be life. If there were animals or something, then the problem of food might be solved.

Although he was excited, John still moved forward carefully. When he saw the scene in front of him, he suppressed his excitement and looked around this place that looked like a garden with caution.

This was a huge room with many trees, flowers, and plants. If it weren't for the roof, he would have thought he was outside. The grass on the ground emitted a green fluorescence. Although it allowed people to see the surroundings clearly, it gave off an eerie feeling.

In the very center of the room, there was a pool surrounded by a circle of stones with a statue standing in the middle.

The statue was an image of a demon with wings on its back, but its expression was solemn and dignified, as if it was not a demon but an angel.

John slowly approached the pool and made sure that no monsters had emerged from it. He then felt a little relieved and looked into the water.

The water was very clear, and you could see the bottom at a glance. Some green algae were floating underneath, and above the algae were some red fish. The contrast looked very striking.

These fish were very beautiful, like big red carp. They swam leisurely in the water, seemingly very harmless and looking very delicious.

"Sorry, fish friends, I have no food to eat now, so I can only use you guys to fill my stomach. If you go to fish heaven, don't tell this guy about me."

As he spoke, John glanced at the demon statue, but he vaguely saw that the corners of the demon statue's mouth were slightly upturned, as if it was mocking him.

The scene immediately frightened him, and he quickly took a few steps back. When he looked at the demon again, he found that it was still solemn and dignified, as if he was hallucinating.

This place was full of weirdness, and he didn't dare to slack off. After a while, seeing that the demon statue didn't move at all, he slowly approached it again.

He stared at the demon statue for a while, and after making sure there was no change, he looked into the pool. By this time, his stomach was already rumbling.

He hadn't eaten anything since he had a little bread yesterday, and now he had walked such a long way, so his stomach was naturally empty.

He first tentatively touched the water with his hand, and after making sure there was no problem, he took off his shoes, rolled up his trouser legs, and went into the pool.

The pool was not deep, only up to his knees, but the water was icy cold. He could still bear it when he first entered, but if he stayed there for a while longer, he would probably be frozen to death.

This made him not dare to waste any more time, so he waded through the water towards the fish. The fish seemed not to sense anyone approaching and continued to swim leisurely.

John slowly approached the fattest fish. This fish was at least as long as his forearm and looked very meaty. If he finished it, it should be enough to fill him up.

He slowly stretched out his hand, and when it got close to the water surface, he suddenly grabbed the red fish and caught it in his hand.

But after being caught, the red fish struggled desperately. The body of the fish was very smooth. He tried hard to catch it, but it slipped out of his hands. With a splash, the red fish fell back into the water.

Just when he was about to catch it again, the fish did not run away. Instead, it bit his calf, and the blood immediately dyed the pool red.

He cried out in pain and tried to tear the fish away, but he saw other fish rushing towards him, each with their sharp teeth bared. He knew without thinking that something bad was going to happen.

He didn't have time to get the fish off his leg and waded back quickly. The blood dyed more of the water red.

Fortunately, he was not far from the edge of the pond, and the red fish were quite far away from him, so he jumped out of the pond before the fish rushed to him and was not bitten by them.

He didn't expect that the seemingly docile red fish was as ferocious as a piranha, and the one that was biting his leg had not let go and was even tearing it apart desperately.

John hurriedly pierced the body of the red fish with his sword and cut off the fish head with force, but the fish head still bit his calf tightly and refused to let go.

He had no choice but to cut the fish head in half again and finally got the red fish off. He didn't expect that he was not injured when facing the skeletons or the zombies, but was bitten by a fish.

But now there was no gauze to wrap the wound, so he could only use the water in the pool to clean the wound, and then tear off a piece of his sleeve to wrap the wound.

Although the wound was not too deep, it bled a lot, which made his face a little pale. It seemed that he could not move forward and had to stop and rest.

After treating the wound, he looked at the fish on the ground. The eyes on the fish's head were staring at him, as if it resented him for killing it.

This feeling made John feel a little creepy. He picked up the fish head and threw it into the flowers. Out of sight, out of mind. Not seeing the dead fish eyes made him feel much better.

Then he looked at the body of the fish. Although the fish was very ferocious, the meat still looked very white and tender. It seemed delicious and did not seem to be poisonous.

After trying a small bite, he found that the meat was surprisingly delicious and had a slight taste of salt. He just didn't know why the fish in the pond would have a salty taste.

After waiting for a while and making sure that the fish was indeed not poisonous, he continued eating and soon finished the whole fish.

This fish was a bit strange. It was obviously a fish from a pond, but it had no bones like a deep-sea fish, as if someone caught it from the sea and put it here on purpose.

After eating, he leaned against the stone of the pool to rest. The injury on his leg made it impossible for him to walk. It was very painful when he walked, and it began to bleed. He felt that he had encountered the first crisis in the dungeon.

If he couldn't solve the problem, let alone go deeper, if any monster came, he might not be able to escape.

Just when John thought this was already a very bad situation, an even worse situation occurred. He suddenly felt a little dizzy, and his vision began to blur.

He reached out and touched his forehead and found that it was very hot, as if he was sick. He didn't know if it was because of the infected wound or because of eating the fish.

At this moment, he felt that he might die here. It seemed that only a few people could walk out of this dungeon. There were too many dangers in here, and one could get caught if not careful.

John's consciousness became increasingly blurred. He felt that the surroundings were no longer green, but became colorful. The green became greener, the red became redder, and the colors of the whole world were very impactful.

At the same time, everything around him was getting bigger, the trees began to twist and become fierce, and the demon statue looked at him with a grin.

They were getting bigger and bigger and were about to pierce through the roof. He wanted to escape but found that he had no strength to stand up.

John vaguely felt that there were many twisted souls surrounding him. They stretched out many tentacles, as if they wanted to take him away, but he didn't want to be taken away.

He tried hard to lower his head, but saw many little people dancing in a circle on the ground. They were like elves in this world, wearing pointy hats and bright clothes.

At this moment, he felt his mouth and throat were extremely dry, as if he had not had water for a long, long time...
