D' Ultimate Lich King

Chapter 129: DULK: Chapter 129

"Oh… regarding strength? A man who can contend with Servants in direct combat is indeed dangerous,"

Kotomine Risei nodded in agreement.

They had witnessed Arthas's battle against the rogue Servant through the Assassins' eyes; his strength was astonishing.

Kotomine Kirei looked at his father; that was only part of it; his fear had deeper implications, but he didn't elaborate.

"We can now confirm the eliminated Servant was the true Caster; Flandre Scarlet's identity remains questionable."

"If the eliminated Servant was the true Caster, then only Berserker remains."

"But… while Berserkers aren't always completely mad, this girl is too lucid. How can a Berserker be so clear-headed…"

Kotomine Risei frowned, puzzled.

Berserkers aren't always completely mad, but Flandre's lucidity was unusual.

The girl could be any Servant, except a Berserker.

Such a girl… how could she be a Berserker?

"Until we're certain, treat her as a Berserker."

"Yes… that's all we can do. Inform Tokiomi; treating her as a weak Caster could be disastrous."

Kotomine Kirei nodded, about to leave, when Kotomine Risei stopped him.

"Wait, there's crucial information; Flandre Scarlet isn't human, or wasn't before becoming a Servant; she belongs to a race that dislikes daylight."

Kotomine Risei recalled Flandre's behavior; her languid demeanor reminded him of a familiar race.

"Her actions… strongly suggest a vampire."

"A vampire? If it's the King of Heroes, he should have many powerful Noble Phantasms effective against vampires."

Kotomine Kirei said; Kotomine Risei nodded vigorously.

"Exactly. Even if she's not a vampire, she's likely a nocturnal creature; anti-vampire Noble Phantasms might be highly effective."

"I understand, Father. I'll inform Tokiomi-sensei."

"Good. Have your Servant continue monitoring him. I believe the biggest threat in this Holy Grail War is this Einzbern outsider."

No… there's another man.

Kotomine Kirei thought, but obeyed his father.

Kotomine Kirei's biggest threat was Kiritsugu Emiya, an enigmatic mage-killer, even more so than Arthas.

Kotomine Kirei didn't understand Kiritsugu's motives; in Arthas's eyes, he saw a strong belief, a desire to protect; he must love his wife deeply.

But Kiritsugu was different; Kotomine Kirei saw only endless emptiness, mirroring his own.

What is your purpose in seeking the Grail… Kiritsugu Emiya?

"Amazing… the extra Command Seal was so easily obtained,"

Illya murmured, leaving the Church; it had been too easy.

"Normal; the overseers wouldn't tamper with the Command Seals; many are watching; their aim was likely to understand Flandre's origins."

"So… Flandre's hidden identity is exposed?"

"It seems so; the true Caster's magic before death eliminated the possibility of her being a Berserker. No one will consider her a Caster, though her true class is unknown."

Arthas sighed.

"And her race might be guessed; vampires aren't unknown to the Church."

"It's… been figured out? That's dangerous,"

Illya's face fell; if her race was known, targeting her would be easy.

"Just preparing for the worst; even without certainty, suspicion will exist. If an enemy Servant has anti-vampire Noble Phantasms, they'll use them."

"Relax, Master; I'm not afraid of such weapons,"

Flandre's voice echoed.

"I'm a Servant; my existence is a perfect lifeform; I lack vampire weaknesses.

My daytime sleepiness is habit. I can't be targeted; powerful weapons are useless against an untouchable enemy.

A heart attack, regardless of weapon type, would eliminate me, right?"

"Yes, but be careful."

"Relax, Master; I won't dishonor the Scarlet name. Sister would be upset,"

Flandre giggled. They left Fuyuki, returning to the Einzbern annex.
