Daily Life Chuunibyou Saving The Worlds

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Gate Master

It was a failure.

Shaka's attempt to use his Descent Magic to summon the soul of the deceased captain—Alise—as a heroic spirit had ended in complete and expected failure.

The principle behind Shaka's magic, [The Descender], was simple: open a spatial gate and summon a being connected to him from the other side.

At its core, it was eerily similar to the Third Magic from the Type-Moon world—treating the heavenly reincarnation pool as a pseudo-Throne of Heroes and performing the summoning ritual through it.

But even so, it had failed.

Of course it had.

Shaka, still a mere Level 1 rookie, couldn't possibly summon a Level 4 soul. After all, Falna transformed both body and soul. Even in death, Alise's soul retained its enhanced strength as a Level 4. That kind of power couldn't be called upon with the meager spiritual force he had.

But Shaka sensed the issue wasn't just about magical energy.

"I understand what you were trying to do," Astraea said, eyes closed in thought. "But in this world, the souls of fallen children return to the heavens to await their next reincarnation."

"Even monster souls," she added, "return to the Dungeon and begin the cycle anew."

"So your failure may be due to that."

Shaka frowned. "You mean… the captain's soul has already reincarnated?"

That didn't make sense. In the original storyline, a certain so-called "useless elf" would eventually summon Alise's spirit using her own magic. That alone proved Alise hadn't yet reincarnated.

As expected, Astraea shook her head.

"No. With nearly all gods having descended to the lower world, there aren't enough to manage reincarnations properly. The process has slowed significantly. A full cycle can take up to a thousand years."

Shaka gritted his teeth. "Then how come the goblin summoning worked, but Alise's didn't?"

"Maybe," Astraea speculated, "monsters killed on the surface no longer fall under the Dungeon's soul cycle? Or maybe… it just takes longer for their souls to return?"

She sighed. "To be honest, even gods don't fully understand the Dungeon."

Then a realization struck Shaka like lightning.

Of course! Human souls return to the heavens!

If a mere sealed location like the Dungeon could interfere with the soul cycle… then the divide between the mortal world and the heavens—a separate dimension—was an even greater wall.

It wasn't just a door.

It was a barrier between two worlds—like the difference between paper and steel.

But now that he understood the reason for his failure, Shaka felt a renewed fire of determination.

Barriers exist to be broken.

And in Shaka's eyes, that gap between worlds wasn't truly insurmountable—not when gods themselves had already descended from the heavens.

"Lady Astraea," he said, falling to his knees in reverence. "Please… tell me heaven coordinates. It's vital."

Astraea's expression remained calm, but her heart thundered in shock.

What is he planning? Is he really going to try to break into the heaven?!

And yes—she was absolutely right.

That was exactly what Shaka intended.

"If I can't summon a soul through the barrier," he explained, eyes blazing, "then I just need to create an opening between the worlds!"

He envisioned the heavens as a massive lake of souls—where those not yet reincarnated lingered.

To him, it was akin to the Root from the Type-Moon universe, with the soul lake as the Throne of Heroes.

All he needed to do… was punch a hole through it.

"I'll act as the vessel—like a Holy Grail. And then I can mimic the Heroic Spirit Summoning Ritual."

His voice brimmed with confidence.

"If we erase the barrier between worlds, I can bring back those who came before—lost heroes, former comrades… even Alise."

Madness. Genius.

But with Shaka—someone who had crossed worlds twice, who had awakened this magic during dimensional travel—it wasn't impossible.

He wasn't just another magic-user.

He was the Gate Master—the ruler of doors and space-time.

That said, summoning a true Heroic Spirit required immense magical power—enough to draw from ley lines and command the elements themselves.

Something far beyond his reach right now.

But this connected directly to Shaka's real goal.

He reached into his pocket, brushing his fingers across the cold surface of his phone.

Though powered off, it was his final connection to his old world—a symbol of the civilization he'd come from.

And inside it was his greatest ambition…

Multiverse Chat Group.

Watching Shaka's eyes glitter with raw determination, Astraea finally closed her eyes, thought deeply…

And slowly nodded.

"…Alright. I'll teach you how to locate a world anchor."

"R-Really?!" Shaka looked up in shock.

Astraea, however, wore a complicated expression.

She had her own hopes. If they could truly call back the departed, then perhaps Ryuu— that poor, broken girl—might be saved from the path of despair.

She sighed, rubbing her face.

"You're such a troublesome child. Even if I didn't tell you… you'd figure it out anyway, wouldn't you?"

She could sense it now—Shaka's skill, Mystery, had reached astonishing levels.

At astonishing rate, he was already pushing into B-rank territory, a impossible feat that even Level 9 adventurers can't do !?

If he kept going, he might truly reach S-rank, stepping into the realm of divine power itself. But that would be too much for level 1 mortal shell to bear before burning away in divine .

He had only just received Falna. His soul and body weren't yet ready to bear such heavy strain.

So Astraea intervened, halting the skill's full activation.

---

When gods descend to the mortal world, they can choose their arrival location. That alone proved gods could detect and lock onto world coordinates—even down to a general area.

So now, Astraea began patiently teaching Shaka how to find an anchor point.

Of course, with Shaka's current abilities, he couldn't truly lock onto a distant world yet—not without a medium.

That medium could be a physical item, or something emotional, like a bond.

For Shaka, he had two perfect anchors:

Himself… and Astraea, who had descended from the heavens.

---

"Gather, O stars!"

Shaka's chant rang through the clearing.

Golden sparks danced from his fingertips, and a tiny needle-sized rift in space blinked open.

Then shattered into stardust.

Shaka gasped for breath, his chest heaving as he turned to look at Astraea.

"…That's the aura of the heavens," she murmured, stunned. "You actually did it…"

The last time someone had opened the gates to heaven from the lower world, it had been through the legendary spell [Fairy Ring of Six], cast by six arch spirit working together to unleash a forbidden technique.

While Shaka's feat couldn't compare in power, the principle was the same.

Both spells opened a path to the heavens.

The difference was, the Fairy Ring drew divine power and summoned judgment. Shaka had merely created a pinhole.

"I can't maintain it," he admitted, exhausted. "Let alone draw power from it."

"But still… it worked."

"Yes." Astraea smiled. "Congratulations, Shaka-chan. Now… let's update your Falna."

---

It had been six days since Shaka joined the Familia.

Every day, he had pushed his magic to the brink, practicing until his mind nearly collapsed.

And now, as Astraea reviewed his status…

Magic: I0 → I53

"…So slow," Shaka muttered, disappointed. All his stats had only crept up by a few points. Even Magic, the stat that grew the fastest, had only gained 53 points.

"Those guys who gain hundreds of points per dungeon run… total cheats."

Pause.

"…Oh wait, I'm a cheat too. Never mind then."

Astraea gave him a fond smile, warned him to rest properly, and quietly left.

And once she was gone…

Shaka pulled out his phone—and began preparing for his true plan.
