"Getting home late is nice, you enter a dark room and plop onto a soft bed in the peaceful embrace of the night, but when morning arrives, all you see is the mess that is your life." - Author

A huge man fell from the sky, Ryuta watched as the near 7 foot tall monstrosity landed within the range of the cursed feathers that swirled around him.

The storm of cursed feathers enveloped the man yet he simply walked through it as if it was nothing.

Ryuta's eyes glowed with a blue light, within his sight he found-

'A fucking mosnter'

His conclusions were shattered as he watched this monster of a man walk through the field of curses like he was walking through a garden of flowers.

Every curse that would have taken his allies down in an instant had done nothing to impede him.

Ryuta steeled his gaze, he took a stance and without waiting for the man to arrive before him he rushed forward.

His movements were quick, straightforward and powerful-

A flash of black flames and lightning could be seen covering his entire being as his crimson blade was pulled out. Coated in a dark hellfire of power, the crimson blade showed the true extent of what Ryuta could achieve.

Allen watched in shock, he bit his lips as he knew that if he were facing against that strike-

'I'd be dead'

It was a strike from a mere level 1 but-

*BOOM*

In one swift motion, the huge man took out his large black sword, coated in bright golden light, the sword caught the terrifying blade filled with curses and a mysterious destructive force.

It stood like an immovable wall, no matter how much the black lightning and flames tried to corrupt and consume the golden light, it would always regenerate.

"Peak level 5… to be able to reach such a level of power from mere enhancement… your ability- it's quite powerful"

The man said in a deep apathetic tone, but Ryuta did not react. He simply gave the man a smirk as he slid his blade.

Countering, the man attempted to take control but Ryuta was more skillful than he had thought-

The man had used both hands to hold his blade to block the attack while Ryuta had only used one-

It was an iaido based strike, but Ryuta was capable of far more than just one cut.

Leveraging his single handed stance, Ryuta used his free hand to conjure multiple spells, taking full advantage of the little time he had to fight in this state.

His hand, already covered in dark veins pulsed with intense pain but Ryuta remained stone faced as he accurately weaved various spells around the battlefield.

As he used his body and sword to maneuver around the huge man, Ryuta was constantly reinforcing himself and casting low level spells atop each other to cause an inconsistency in his speed and direction.

Much like how he had done against Allen, his body swayed with the force of the huge man's attacks.

Like a snake, he slowly inched closer and when he was finally near-

"Fool"

The huge man said as he suddenly increased in speed- his sword that was intertwined with Ryuta's disappeared causing an imbalance in Ryuta's stance.

Taking that chance, the huge man struck down- in that moment, eight flashes of crimson lightning struck at the man-

"Gungnir-Alternative"

Ryuta said jokingly as the man realized that he had been caught off guard as eight swords flew towards him with terrifying force.

He was forced to stop his attack and block the eight swords but-

All eight swords not only carried immense power, they also attacked from multiple directions.

Not letting this chance slip past him, Ryuta used a simple wind spell to push him forward as he struck the man with his blade.

At this point, the man found himself unable to hold back as he took out his second blade, he started to wield both blades coated in golden light at the same time as he blocked all attacks from the eight short swords as he delivered a powerful cut towards the incoming Ryuta.

What he did not realize was that the being he had cut was nothing more than a shadow- the moment he realized this it was already too late. The shadow exploded with a blast of curses, black chains made of feathers enveloped his blade locking it onto the ground.

"This…"

Allen did not know how to react, the battle lasted less than five minutes and the exchanges that occurred were already too numerous and complex.

"This is not a fight between a level 1 and a level 7"

But responding to his words, the blonde elf Hedin let out a sigh saying-

"Ottar said he's at the peak of level 5… the Gulliver brothers won't stand a chance even if they fight together… he should be at level 6"

Allen, recovering from his initial shock, scoffed at that comment as he replied.

"It's shocking, but peak level 5 is the limit of his abilities, the only reason it looks harder for Ottar is because we have no idea what he could do"

It was truly shocking, but recalling how he had let the young man use his enhancement ability, Allen knew that the young man, Ryuta, could not last long. He was bound to reach a limit, his enhancement, much like the "Hell Finnegas" of a certain pallum did not last forever.

"He loses the moment his enhancement ends"

Allen added but the main question was-

"When?"

The vice captain remained silent, even he could not see through that- it was an unknown and that was what they were here to do.

Seeing the continuation of the battle, Allen realized that Ottar was not going to push anymore. The moment Ottar arrived, that was the moment the mission changed.

As such, he turned to Hedin and asked.

"The case?"

"Hogni has it"

"... so that's why he got hit by the curse"

"He said he could handle it- I just let him do it"

Allen did not dig any deeper, he could already see how things played out, now he was focused on Ryuta.

The moment he tries to escape, that was the moment he would move but the battle had reached a weird point-

Ryuta stood a short distance from Ottar who did not move from his spot-

'Very final boss of him'

He mused as he assessed his own condition-

'Without Hestia-sama's arcanum, I wouldn't be able to maintain this state for long… I've got a quarter of an hour left and I steel need to rush back…'

Ryuta calculated his odds, he was not the type to get engrossed in a battle, especially one between humans.

If it was a monster battle he could let himself loose but this was different.

The people he was up against were powerful, they were organized and-

'They have a goal'

Ryuta knew that he was being watched and it all started-

'That grey haired girl… Loki… these high level adventurers…'

Recalling the events that had transpired that evening, Ryuta came to a sudden realization. It was painfully obvious but yet again…

'What's wrong with me today?'

He's been making mistake after mistake, even opening up to the Loki familia, getting pulled into their crazy antics-

He went completely against his plans and put himself at risk for no apparent reason ever since-

'Since I encountered Maria…'

Memories flooded in like a tide as Ryuta pieced together everything. The moment he started to act different, the moment his thoughts were hampered-

'Mental interference? No… there was no sign of control- Oryou would have- no…'

There were too many factors, too many coincidences and too many things happening. He was unable to accurately grasp the scenario, he was unable to see through variables that were at play-

'Tsk… damn it… wait- no… HESTIA-SAMA!'

As his mind swirled, he tried to make sense of all that was happening and he came to a horrifying revelation.

One that he wished was his own overthinking but with all that had happened…

Clutching his sword, Ryuta found it even more important to get back to the church-

His mind flared out as he rushed forward, his body splitting into multiple shadows.

Ottar watched this happen, he focused his senses and-

*clang*

The swords collided but-

Ryuta flew, it was as if he had bounced from the collision yet-

Faster than before he rushed forward once more.

And again- Ottar blocked the attack but-

Once again, Ryuta flew-

It happened so quickly that by the time Ottar realized what was happening, Ryuta had already attacked him 12 times and with the 13th strike-

This time Ottar did not block but instead dodge but that was Ryuta's plan all along.

Ottar watched as Ryuta snickered while cutting his right hand as he flew past him.

What Ryuta did not know was that Ottar already planned to risk his body for this chance-

As Ryuta flew by, Ottar's left hand was already intercepting Ryuta.

The young man noticed this and raised his sword in a panic to block the approaching fist.

Seeing the panic on his face, Ottar increased his speed and at the moment his fist made contact with the sword-

"Sike"

Was all he heard as an explosion occurred, Ryuta flew towards the direction of Hestia Familia's base.

Seeing this sudden change, Allen was about to follow but Ottar raised his hand to stop him. At that moment, the sound of heels resounded through the streets grabbing the attention of everyone.

All the members of the Freya Familia turned towards the source of the sound and found their Goddess walking towards Ottar with pink haired lady in tow.

Arriving next to Ottar, Freya observed the wounds on her Captain's body, her eyes glowing with the light of delight as she asked.

"How was he?"

To which Ottar replied robotically-

"Strong"

Satisfied, Freya watched as the pink haired woman helped Ottar heal his wounds, all the cursed feathers had disappeared and the members of the Freya familia appeared one after another.

All of them were executives, Ottar drank a potion to cure the effects of the curses as he watched Freya approach Hogni who was carrying the silver case.

"The blood?"

She asked, to which Ottar passed to her a piece of cloth stained with crimson blood.

Freya showed an enraptured smile as she held the piece of cloth and gently wiped the blood on the case.

As the blood touched the case, the silver case lit up, brilliant blue-green lines appeared all over it as it opened.

"That's all it took? I didn't think it actually worked"

One of the short fully armored men said as they stared at the case.

"Artifacts, weapons that should only be accessible to God's, could only be made by God's… such an item- made by human hands, carrying the touch of mortals- truly the mark of a hero"

Freya said as she picked up the staff that was inside the case, it was a simple staff but there was a groove on the place where precious magic enhancing jewels should be placed.

Curious, Freya observed the staff and for a few minutes her face showed a variety of emotions.

"I see… so that's how it was done~"

Her voice carried a deep air of desire as her face showed a look of deep captivation.

"Whether it was on accident or by fortune, to learn and master magic not through Falna but through pure effort… that in itself is a legend- not to mention-"

Freya recalled the image of Ryuta she had caught, the blue flow of his eyes that seemed to see through all.

At first she thought it was just an illusion but after watching him fight Ottar she knew.

Ryuta, like her, could see fate, he could use magic, he was a warrior-

'A warrior who had gone through countless battlefields, a seer who could see the future, a mage who could wield magic freely… unfortunately, his love is not directed at me…'

Her eyes glowed with a dangerous sheen but it quickly died down-

'No… I won't make the same mistake… that man- Ryuta Takehara, whether he likes it or not, his fate is tied deeply with mine'

Her eyes glowed with a bright purple light, she stared at the direction where Ryuta flew towards, a smile blooming on her face.

'Yes, our paths are not far… you truly are my fated- Odr'

Meanwhile, Ryuta who was rushing back to the church felt a familiar chill wash over him. But he shook it off for now as he increased his speed rushing back to the church.
