Chapter 38: Lefiya Shine
"Lefiya, Kelvin! Stay back! Bete, Gareth, Tiona! Protect the two of them, and take out as many approaching monsters as you can! Ais and I will attack them in the front!"
Upon seeing dozens of Black Rhinos and many other monsters appear, as if seeing a trap in plain sight, Finn immediately issued his orders quickly.
And because of his quick actions, there was no reaction of confusion from the others. They immediately sprang into action, standing in front of Lefiya and Kelvin, forming a protective wall around them.
Overall, their movements were very smooth and very well coordinated.
Meanwhile, more than 30 Black Rhinos emerged from the wall, roaring as they stood on their feet for the first time.
Stone rubble from the Dungeon wall flew up, as it spread in all directions and shattered unceremoniously
"Lefiya, stay behind and start chanting! You're urgently needed in this battle!"
"...! Y-Yes, Captain!"
Although nervous and feeling a little scared, but Lefiya understood her role well in this.
She began to get into position, creating a magic circle under her feet, as she began to chant her magic spells.
Finn didn't see her anymore as he started walking next to the blonde haired girl.
"Ais."
"I know."
Ais nodded her head as she gazed at Finn.
And a moment after, a feminine girl's voice echoed in this quiet hall (not literally, okay?).
"Tempest."
In the next second, a strong rush of wind surrounded her body, as if it was another version of her combat suit.
The long blonde hair danced with the wind, fluttering irregularly in all directions.
Ariel-the only magic Ais possessed.
This magic allowed Ais to increase her attack power and speed, as well as protect herself by creating wind surrounding her body. This magic gave her a significant increase in strength.
Moreover, Ais could increase her thrust many times over by chanting the spell many times.
In other words, although this was just an ordinary enhancement magic, it was very special because it was more extraordinary than other enhancement magic. Combined with the short spells, Ais-Ariel's magic was-of course perfectly suited for her use.
Feeling the normally calm Dungeon air flowing around her, Ais released the sword attached to her waist.
Only, instead of removing it from its sheath, she handed it to Finn.
"Finn."
Fin looked at Ais, or rather at the sword in his hand "Durandal, yes..., I don't doubt you, but you think it'll work?"
Durandal.
A special attribute that blacksmiths gave to the weapons they made.
It increased the strength and durability of the weapon, making it durable and not easily destroyed.
It was just that, when using Ariel, all tier one weapons could not keep up with Ais, and were often destroyed in her hands even though they had the Durandal attribute in them.
Finn amusedly chuckled as he took away Ais' weapon-Desperate-and gave her a long sword instead.
Ais twisted her wrist a few times before pointing it straight ahead. It was the right moment when a huge body, like a high-speed train.
It was the caterpillar monster from before.
"!!!!"
The monster let out a screech that scorched the ground as it turned its face towards the adventurer staring at it.
On closer inspection, there was a hole in one part of the caterpillar monster's body, with purple liquid dripping out of the 'hole'.
Yes, that was the caterpillar monster that Kelvin had attacked earlier, and made him lose his right hand.
"Don't push yourself if the wind doesn't protect you. Remember, all you need to do is buy time for Lefiya, that's all."
"lya." Ais nodded.
"I'd wish you good luck. but, I don't think you need it."
At that moment, more and more caterpillar monsters piled up in the hall, as if they were waves carried by the current.
Their body sizes varied; some were large and towered over the others, but some were not very large and were almost small in size.
Amidst all that was happening, the sound of Ais' sword pierced the surrounding air.
"-I will advance."
As if the wind was shaking, Ais kicked the ground beneath her.
The blonde-haired girl's body was lost in the wind that could be deafening.
That increase made Ais move faster than usual.
The wind truly accompanied Ais as she sped towards the enemy in front of her.
Only the largest of the group was able to react to this new threat in time.
He opened his large jaws and spewed a stream of purple liquid at Ais who lunged forward.
Only, the girl didn't stop.
Aiz swung her blade into a wide, rising arc.
The wind shielded her, and flung the liquid that was headed towards her to the side.
The previously unblockable attack was swept away by the surrounding silver line.
What a striking move!
Slicing through the body of the caterpillar monster in front of him, while dodging the corrosive liquid directed at him.
Protected by the wind shield flowing around her, Ais' longsword didn't stall and continued to move, cutting the caterpillar monster's body into pieces.
The wind surrounding her body also protected her from counterattacks.
Her magic gave her offensive and defensive abilities simultaneously!
Ais' golden eyes narrowed, her right arm moved in a blur, the blade tearing through everything in its path.
-Ais Wallenstein.
The blonde-haired, golden-eyed girl whose name was already known as one of the strongest adventurers in Orario.
A female knight in Labyrinth City, Orario, she is a top-class adventurer in every sense of the word.
Her alias-Sword Princess.
Every attack is merciless.
The way she wielded her sword and killed her enemies was brutal and deadly.
A combination of blinding speed and deadly accuracy, she proceeded to slice through each monster without hesitation.
Monsters that felt her sword let out a dying screech as purple liquid oozed out of their bodies.
It's just that ....
BOOOMMM!
All those pale green bodies suddenly started pulsing, then each dying caterpillar monster exploded, showering the area with acid rain.
Ais and Finn managed to dodge the liquid, but the explosion caught Tiona's group off guard.
Fortunately, they retreated far enough that the Black Rhinos they fought earlier inadvertently shielded them from the splashes of corrosive liquid that flew into the air.
The monsters cried out in excruciating pain before falling to the ground.
"Well, these creatures turn into bombs after taking lethal damage."
In the end, no matter how much Aiz and Finn killed the caterpillar monsters that entered the hall, the flood of monsters still entered the room very quickly.
Aiz and Finn stood in the front row, defeating each monster, but the number of enemies that appeared never seemed to decrease at all, instead growing as time passed.
It was too early to relax.
There was a limit to how long they could withstand the avalanche of worms moving closer. The hall they were currently in would be overrun if they allowed the battle to continue.
"Proud warriors, jungle snipers. Raise your bow before the approaching invaders."
"Answer the call of your brothers and prepare your arrows. Color them with flame, the light of the forest lamp."
The magic circle beneath Lefiya's feet began to glow more strongly with each syllable of the incantation.
Lefiya's figure was illuminated by a pale golden light, creating the illusion as if a camera was shining on her at this moment.
"Release them, the fire arrows of the fairies. Falling like rain, burn savagery to ashes."
As soon as the spell was completely finished, an overflowing magical energy filled her body.
"I'm ready!"
With Lefiya's voice descending and echoing in the room; Finn and Ais began to retreat away.
Looking at her teammates who were moving away from the battlefield, Lefiya nodded with certainty. Her eyes were filled with determination at this moment.
"Fusillade Fallarica!"
As soon as these words fell, countless flaming lines rained down on every monster that stood in its way.
Every monster in the room was pierced by numerous burning and extremely hot shots.
Their cries and screams were drowned out by the deafening roar from hell that now enveloped the entire room.
Arrows that missed their targets buried themselves deep in the walls and floor of the dungeon-creating a flaming fence to prevent their enemies from escaping.
Tens of thousands of lines of fire continued to fall from the Ceiling, resulting in a rain of sea of fire that pierced the skin and bodies of countless monsters.
The room was filled with red and orange light and flooded with overwhelming heat.
And when the flames began to die down, there was no sign left of the Black Rhinos or the Caterpillar Monsters from before.
"See, I told you it would work! Ka-boom! One shot! You're amazing, Lefiya!"
"Too flashy! You Elves are really blinding my feathers, dammit!."
"Ghahaha! That's better! Awesome!"
Tiona, Bete, and Gareth gave their respective responses. The three quickly returned to their positions; forming a protective triangle with Lefiya and Kelvin inside.
They quickly sent the few monsters that managed to get close to Lefiya to avoid the flames.
The enemies gone, Tiona continued to sing Lefiya's praises as Ais and Finn approached them.
"Thank you, Lefiya." Ais gave a small smile looking at Lefiya.
"Ah..., no! I mean, you're welcome!"
Seeing Ais' smile, Lefiya acted shyly, and on closer inspection, her cheeks were slightly flushed as she tried to turn her gaze in another direction.
Everyone was smiling, only for Kelvin to feel sour as his prey had been stolen by Lefiya.
