DanMachi: Ultimate Lich King

Chapter 117: DULK: Chapter 117

Kiritsugu Emiya observed the Servant battle through the crystal ball; Saber seemed to be losing, but he wasn't worried.

Saber was the strongest sword Servant; a wrist injury wouldn't hinder her against a Caster.

He was wary of other potential enemies; since the Caster had attacked, other factions wouldn't remain passive. They might try to eliminate the Caster or pursue other objectives.

"Kiritsugu, someone's approaching; very fast!"

At the front of the Matou mansion, as the Servant battle commenced, a man in a black robe stopped at the gate.

"Lowly creature; your presence in this sacred Grail War is an insult," Kayneth snarled, his face bearing the scars of last night's explosion.

His carefully laid magical defenses were easily bypassed; he'd anticipated a proper mage duel, not such underhanded tactics. This enraged him.

"What good are your petty tricks? Kiritsugu Emiya, you'll die before a true mage!"

Kayneth smirked, placing a ceramic jar on the ground. The jar, seemingly light, actually weighed nearly 140 kilograms due to a weight-reduction spell.

"Fervor, meisanguis." (Boil, my blood) He chanted; a silver, lifelike substance writhed and spread, its strange light reflecting in Kayneth's eyes, revealing boundless rage.

Inside, Kiritsugu and Maiya Hisau had just tidied the table; then, something shattered the window, cleaving the table in two.

It was a mercury-like substance, slicing through the walls.

Kayneth, arms crossed, entered, smiling cruelly at Kiritsugu and Maiya.

"Come, mage killer; let me show you a true mage battle!"

"Maiya, go."

Kiritsugu calmly instructed Maiya to leave.

Maiya, knowing she couldn't help, nodded and quickly left the living room.

"Trying to escape?"

Kayneth wouldn't let anyone associated with Kiritsugu escape; as Maiya left, he willed the mercury to form a blade and attacked her.

Kiritsugu tried to intercept, but it was too late. Then, with a roar, a swarm of black insects emerged from the inner room, passing through Maiya, blocking Kayneth's attack.

"Wh… what?"

The insects, after blocking Kayneth, flew out through the shattered wall, not attacking him; it was a warning.

Kayneth, tense and uncertain, heard a raspy, low voice.

"These youngsters are increasingly arrogant…"

"Who… who's speaking?"

Kayneth involuntarily took a step back, alert.

While he disregarded the weakened Matou family, he feared the old monster within—Kariya Matou, who'd clung to life for centuries.

Whether this was the original Kariya Matou was uncertain, but he was undoubtedly dangerous.

"The Grail War is a free-for-all; settle your scores as you wish, but disturbing my rest… will displease me."

"Tsk…"

Kayneth clicked his tongue, unwilling to act; the brief clash revealed the old monster's immense power.

"Kiritsugu Emiya, if you're a man, come outside; let's have a fair fight!"

Kayneth left the Matou mansion; Kiritsugu followed without hesitation.

He considered Kariya Matou's intervention a stroke of luck; defeating Kayneth was still his responsibility.

As the Matou mansion became a battleground, others arrived secretly.

Including Arthas, Illya, and Flandre.

Arthas had intended to observe, but Gilles's actions changed his mind.

He might not care about others' lives, but these were innocent children, brutally murdered because of a moment's hesitation.

Seeing the children's deaths, Arthas thought of Illya and Sakura; rage surged within him.

He knew they were already infected; death was inevitable, but they died before his eyes.

"Sorry… I couldn't save you, but I'll avenge you,"

Muttering this, Arthas released Illya's hand.

"Flandre, protect Illya."

"Arthas…?"

Illya was surprised; Arthas leaped from the platform, heading towards Saber and the Caster.
