Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Shirou's Concerns
"Asfi, these people are a death squad!" Lulune shouted, struggling to maintain her composure. The Hermes Familia was suffering continuous casualties due to the suicide attacks from the Dark Faction members. Several of their own were clinging to life, on the brink of death at any moment. Facing this suicide squad, who treated their lives as expendable weapons, the Hermes Familia members screamed in terror.
"Ther!" Hearing her comrade's cry, Asfi quickly looked over. She saw her companion tightly embraced by an enemy, the fire stone in their hand already beginning to glow.
It's over, Ther can't escape, Asfi thought, her heart sinking.
But at that moment, a dark shadow flashed across the battlefield. Shirou struck the suicide bomber's wrist with lightning speed. The intense kinetic energy tore off the man's wrist, sending his mangled body crashing into the wall.
"Boom!" A violent explosion erupted, followed by a searing hot wind sweeping through the cavern. Shirou, wielding twin swords, flickered through the battlefield, his movements fast and precise as he weaved through the chaos. His swords relentlessly reaped enemy lives. Unlike his typical combat style in the Dungeon, this was swordsmanship focused solely on killing people—a reflection of Shirou's true nature as a warrior, drawing from the combat experiences of different versions of himself and the heroic spirits' memories from their past lives. These were the foundational cornerstones that supported his strength.
"Comrades, do not fear death!" From the rear of the battlefield, the robed man who had spoken with the masked figure earlier shouted, encouraging the Dark Faction. "The world after death is our cherished wish! Offer your loyalty to our Lord God!" At these words, the suicide squad members' eyes grew even more fanatical, and their combat effectiveness rose.
The robed man nodded in satisfaction, pleased with the reaction.
"Looks like you're quite satisfied!" A voice broke through his focus. The robed man immediately swung his blade backward, but before he could react further, his heart was pierced.
"The Post-Mortem World Front won't welcome your kind, old men!" Shirou's voice rang out as the robed man's vision blurred, and his consciousness faded.
With a flick of his short sword, Shirou withdrew the weapon and wiped off the blood. His gaze fell on the masked man, his eyes filled with cold killing intent.
"How comical!" the masked man commented. Upon meeting Shirou's gaze, he gestured. "Go, man-eating plants!"
At his command, the ground trembled, and man-eating plants burrowed from beneath the earth, appearing all around the group. Their numbers were overwhelming.
"This is quite a spectacle!" Shirou remarked, magic surging around him. With a wave of his hand, his twin swords, Kanshou and Bakuya, transformed into greatswords—one in each of his hands. "Indeed, against monsters, greatswords are still the best!"
Shirou narrowed his eyes and immediately charged toward the monsters.

The Struggle
"Damn it, how are we supposed to deal with this?!" Asfi shouted, struggling to keep her composure. She and the others were facing the relentless suicide squad's charges, while simultaneously fighting off the attacking monsters. The situation was hellish. To form a defensive line against the monsters, they would have to group together. But with the suicide bombers around, that would be a perfect target for their attacks! The whole team was caught in a precarious limbo.
The situation was growing dire, but fortunately, the monsters didn't differentiate between friend and foe. They attacked both the Hermes Familia and Dark Faction members indiscriminately, causing many of the suicide bombers to die at the hands of the monsters.
"What do we do in this situation? Can Magic Sword Archer support us?" Asfi wondered, subconsciously thinking of Shirou, who had already saved them several times. A quick glance revealed that Shirou was locked in a deadly struggle with the monsters.
"This is troublesome!" Shirou muttered, gritting his teeth. With a horizontal slash, he struck down a monster, gaining a brief moment of respite. Looking around at the endless wave of enemies, he realized the challenge ahead.
The magic stones of these monsters were in their mouths. Unless they lunged to bite him, Shirou could take them out with a single strike. However, the enemies primarily attacked by swinging their bodies, and to attack their heads, he would need to jump. But this wasn't an open field—he couldn't easily leverage his surroundings here. Jumping up was risky, and landing would leave him vulnerable.
As for projecting weapons to shoot, Shirou quickly realized that this strategy was no longer as effective. With stronger enemies, projected weapons were too slow. They couldn't keep up with top-tier opponents unless they were clumsy monsters. These new species of monsters all reacted to magic. They could easily deflect Shirou's projected weapons by swinging their bodies.
This flaw in his combat style was beginning to frustrate Shirou. His current strength allowed his arrows to be faster than projected weapons, but in a world like this, the lack of developed magic externalization techniques was a hindrance. Shirou knew he would have to seek out a world where magic was more advanced to overcome this issue.
"Broken Phantasm!" Shirou projected a bow and arrow. Since Super Broken Phantasm was unavailable, this was his strongest attack.
"Boom!" The explosion sent the monster flying to pieces. However, despite being scorched, the other monsters continued to move with deadly speed.
"As long as they're not killed, their combat ability remains almost undiminished?" Shirou's eye twitched. While he had suspected this, seeing it firsthand left him speechless. These monsters could keep fighting unless they were severed in half or incinerated by the explosion's core heat. Mere burns had little effect.
"In that case, I might as well use arrows here. At least I can take them down one by one, without worrying about magic issues!" Shirou decided. He projected a regular arrow, aiming at the monster's magic stone, and released it. The arrow pierced the stone, and the monster crumbled to ash.
"Indeed, I still need to kill them one by one," Shirou reflected. "It's not that simple to wipe them out all at once!" With this realization, Shirou adapted his approach, meticulously firing arrow after arrow, eliminating monsters one by one. His style had shifted; he was no longer simply an archer, but a warrior who understood the intricacies of his enemies.
