DC: Starting with Superman’s Powers

Chapter 8: With Clark

To the onlookers, Whitney had simply swung a punch at Jino, and then, without warning, his arm had snapped, erupting in a gush of blood.

"Oh my god, is Jino a demon?" a student who believed in ghosts and spirits asked, their voice trembling with fear.

But a girl quickly retorted, "Why can't it be God's blessing? He's so handsome, like an angel. God must have been displeased with Whitney's actions and sent divine punishment!"

The crowd buzzed with chatter, discussing Jino's display.

This new transfer student had once again given them new fodder for gossip, right after the street racing incident.

Just then, a figure pushed through the crowd and burst into the fight scene. Lana Lang looked at the blood splattered everywhere and her boyfriend's broken arm with shock, then frantically yelled, "Quick, call an ambulance!"

"You hurt him?!" Lana Lang lifted her head, glaring at Jino.

At the same moment the girl appeared, both Jino and Clark's faces turned incredibly pale.

Thud.

Clark was the first to collapse, fainting on the ground.

"Shit, Clark fainted from the sight of blood!" Chloe and Pete rushed to Clark's side, trying to lift the unconscious Clark, urgently saying, "We need an ambulance!"

Jino's gaze swept over the green necklace around the girl's neck. He quickly shuffled his feet, putting distance between himself and Lana Lang. The feeling of overall weakness then receded.

Damn it, it's Kryptonite.

Jino cursed internally. Superman's powers awaken with age. Besides his Man of Steel, Super Strength, and Super Speed, he hadn't yet awakened Super Vision or X-ray Vision. It wasn't until today that he clearly saw a green Kryptonite rock hanging around Lana Lang's neck!

"I didn't lay a hand on him, ma'am." Though pale, Jino forced a smile, maintaining his composure. "Perhaps you should ask everyone what your boyfriend intended to do to me."

After saying this, Jino walked toward Chloe and Pete to help Clark up.

The group helped the unconscious Clark out of the hallway.

As Jino left the noisy hallway behind, it was clear that today was destined to be a sleepless night.

"What should we do? Take him to the hospital? In your sports car?" Chloe struggled to support Clark's shoulder, feeling as if she were carrying a bull.

"No, no need to take him to the hospital." Jino let out a breath and held up three fingers. "Three, two, one."

As soon as he finished speaking, the previously unconscious Clark suddenly startled awake, opening his eyes and gasping for air.

Chloe and Pete beside them looked as if they'd seen a ghost. A layer of awe was added to their gazes as they looked at Jino.

He looks like he can predict the future?

The awakened Clark rubbed his forehead. The boy took a few seconds to confirm his condition, then looked at Jino with concern, saying seriously, "We need to talk, Jino!"

Clark found it hard to describe his current feelings.

There was excitement, confusion, and bewilderment.

The loneliness that had long enveloped Clark seemed to dissipate in an instant. This was something called a sense of belonging.

It was like a wild wolf, no matter how long it was kept in captivity, was still a wolf. Even if it learned to wag its tail like a hunting dog, what was ingrained in its DNA would never change. It was still fundamentally a wolf, merely imitating a dog.

Jino shrugged. "Of course."

At that moment, the wail of ambulance and police sirens could be heard outside the school gates.

Jino pointed to the Bugatti sports car:

"But school isn't the place to talk."

"Follow me."

Jino led Clark out of the school. The silver-white Bugatti, illuminated by the twilight, sped off into the distance like a silver streak of light, leaving a bewildered Chloe and Pete exchanging glances.

"I just feel like these two guys are a bit mysterious, don't you?"

On a concrete bridge outside the town, the silver-white sports car was parked by the roadside.

Jino and Clark stood on the bridge, staring at the lake below.

The golden, shimmering lake, reflecting the sunset, mirrored their faces.

Jino was indifferent about revealing his identity to Clark.

Clark wasn't an ordinary person, not to mention that he would awaken X-ray Vision later, and sooner or later, he would discover the anomaly in his own body.

So, Jino decided to be direct and take the initiative. He believed Clark wouldn't reveal his identity to a second person.

Because Clark was very lonely, and Jino could understand that loneliness, especially under Jonathan's strict upbringing, Clark's inner loneliness would only grow day by day.

It was like when the Kryptonians attacked in the future, Clark would try his best to establish communication with his own kind.

Both humans and aliens long for a sense of social belonging.

At this moment, the atmosphere between them was somewhat silent. Clark didn't know what to say. He wanted to ask if Jino's condition was the same as his, but on the other hand, he had reservations about Jino instantly twisting Whitney's arm.

"What do you want to ask, Clark? I need to get back to the castle for steak soon."

"Jino…" Clark pursed his lips. "You're… not human either, are you?"

Jino: ???

Why is this kid insulting me? I'm 100% pure human, just with a Kryptonian template layered on top.

But Jino could understand Clark's mindset.

He nodded and said, "That's right, Clark. I'm certainly not an ordinary person. This ability might be related to the meteor shower that landed in town more than a decade ago. Since then, I've awakened various incredible powers."

Hearing Jino's words, Clark's heart trembled. Meteor shower? That's the day I was born.

"And you're not an ordinary person either, are you?" Jino tilted his head, studying Clark. A bitter expression appeared on the naive young man's face. "That's right, I really…"

"…am not an ordinary person either."

"But I've always tried my best to be normal!" Clark straightened his chest and stared at Jino. "Since heaven granted us this power, we should use it correctly, not abuse it."

It has to be said that Jonathan's upbringing taught Clark from a young age that with great power comes great responsibility, preventing him from needing to sacrifice an Uncle Ben for enlightenment like the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

But facing Clark's serious expression, Jino simply held up a finger and wiggled it in front of Clark's eyes, his face still bearing that playful, carefree look. He slowly said, "No, Clark."

"I don't agree with your idea."

Jino smiled, tilting his head back to gaze at the setting sun. "Saving the world and taking on responsibility is too tiring."

"I'm very clear about my own power: I have a basic bottom line—I won't harm innocent ordinary people."

Under the setting sun, a gentle breeze ruffled Jino's golden hair. His tone was calm but conveyed an undeniable certainty: "But I will use this power to protect myself, my family, and my friends. Whoever provokes me will have to bear the consequences."
