DC/Marvel: This Guy is Insane

Chapter 94: Chapter 94: A New Timeline Begins

A helicopter hovered over the rooftop. Everyone looked up, doubts arising in their minds. It was impossible to tell whether the newcomer was an enemy or a friend.

"Task Force X, here to provide support." The next second, Harley Quinn leaped out of the helicopter, accompanied by a host of other team members.

Alan and the others couldn't help but feel that the atmosphere was very awkward as they watched the members of Task Force X fall one by one, posing in their respective positions. The crisis was over. The support from A.R.G.U.S. had arrived far too late.

"Well, if it isn't the Joker that Gotham fears." When Harley Quinn saw her old lover's makeup, she immediately said jokingly, "You put on dark circles under your eyes, and you think you're Robin?"

"Long time no see, Harley." Arthur looked embarrassed. They had originally been a perfect couple among Gotham's criminals, but once, while evading Batman's pursuit, he had decisively betrayed Harley Quinn, which had led to a feud between them.

"Help me hold him down. I'll blow his head off first." Harley gathered all her team members to avenge being abandoned.

"Stop. The crisis is over. You can retreat," Bruce stood between the two sides. When the vampires had invaded, he had sent out a request for support from S.H.I.E.L.D. and A.R.G.U.S. S.H.I.E.L.D. had been the first to respond, sending Eric, while Amanda from A.R.G.U.S. had agreed immediately but had made no move since then.

"Finished!?" All the members of the task force couldn't help but look disappointed. They had come fully armed, ready for a big fight. As it turned out, they had arrived a step too late. It had been a wasted trip, and they wouldn't earn any time off their sentences. Otherwise, how could a group of criminals be so enthusiastic? Of course, if they hadn't had micro-bombs implanted in their brains, they would probably have disbanded as soon as they were released from prison.

"Are you guys imitating the X-Men?" Alan looked at the task force, and his eyes fell on a familiar figure.

"What right do you have to talk about us? Aren't you also imitating Batman?" Harley retorted.

"I am Batman: the Knight of Justice, the People's Whip, and the comic relief of this story—the Comedic Bat." Alan pretended to cover his face with a cloak, then tore off his mask.

"Come here, baby, my little pet." Alan spread his hands, inviting a hug.

"Who is your little pet?" Harley took these words as a provocation and picked up a baseball bat, ready to beat up the guy who had glared at her. Unexpectedly, a black shadow rushed forward first and knocked the man down.

"Master, Nanaue missed you so much."

"You stuck your nose in my eyes again."

"Nanaue didn't mean to. Nanaue was just too happy."

"Can you get up first?" One of Alan's eyes was red and swollen, while Nanaue danced with joy.

Harley Quinn put down her weapon awkwardly. It turned out that he hadn't been calling her a little pet. It seemed she had just been too sentimental.

"You shouldn't be in S.H.I.E.L.D. Why did you switch to A.R.G.U.S.? You really know how to get around." Alan touched Nanaue's soft belly and liked to use it as a mattress.

"Nanaue fell in love with a pink dolphin and was arrested when he went to date the pink dolphin at night," Nanaue said, very confused, his expression innocent.

"Did you break into someone else's aquarium?" Alan asked, blinking his eyes.

"Nanaue doesn't know which place is the oceanarium." With Nanaue's intelligence, he probably couldn't tell what an oceanarium was and thought it was the pink dolphin's home. In fact, it was Nanaue who had broken into the aquarium in the middle of the night to steal the dolphin, smashing the viewing glass and fleeing through several streets with the dolphin in his arms. He had eventually been caught by the agents of A.R.G.U.S.

"Stay with me in the future. I will find you a pink dolphin, build you a big swimming pool, and raise many dolphins," Alan touched Nanaue's nose and comforted him.

"Great! It's the happiest thing to be with the master," Nanaue agreed happily.

"From now on, you will be my Shark Robin."

They had agreed privately, but some people were unwilling to do so. Nanaue was placed in the task force, but he was their combat force. How could they let him go so easily?

Rick Flag, who also served as the captain, stepped forward to stop them. "You can't take Nanaue away. He still has a sentence to serve."

"Amanda, I know you're live-streaming the entire thing through a micro camera. Nanaue has now been transferred to Arkham Asylum to serve his sentence." Alan was not an unreasonable person. He did not directly say that he would give Nanaue his freedom, which already gave him enough face.

The members of Task Force X looked disapproving. Whether they could take a team member away was not something that could be done just by words. They had tiny bombs implanted in their brains that could take their lives with the remote push of a button. However, Alan had seen the movie and was aware of the control methods involved. He placed one hand on Nanaue's ear to activate the magnetic suction function. His bat armor had been modified to have many functions that could be used and unused.

At the same time, Amanda, at A.R.G.U.S. headquarters, saw that the bomb signal light for Nanaue on the console had gone out. Soon, the camera saw Alan taking out a metal capsule from Nanaue's ear.

This time, they had returned with nothing. Not only had they failed to participate in the mission, but they had also lost a general, inexplicably.

Just when the atmosphere between the two sides was tense, a flash of golden lightning passed by.

"Hey guys, am I a little late? I didn't see any vampires while walking around Gotham City." The Flash, Barry Allen, rushed over, threw the tied-up Deathstroke aside, and said proudly, "I caught him when I met him on the way here."

Speaking of which, Deathstroke was full of anger. He had been about to leave Gotham on a speedboat, but in the blink of an eye, he was back on the rooftop.

"Hey! I just released him! Flash, why did you bring him back?" Alan hurried forward to untie Deathstroke and urged him, "Go quickly! I'll help you hold him back."

Deathstroke didn't take the stairs but jumped directly from the rooftop.

Barry was about to chase him, but Bruce stopped him by holding his shoulder. "Don't chase him."

"Who is he?" Barry asked in confusion. "Why should we listen to him?"

"He saved Gotham."

"…"

The matter was settled, and everyone went back to their respective homes. Task Force X was evacuated by helicopter. Bruce invited everyone to rest. Alan returned to Arkham with his comedy troupe. Before leaving, Alan reminded him, "'Bat,' remember to send Pamela back to Arkham."

Alan's doting on Nanaue made the three Robins jealous, so he directly granted them secondary authority in Arkham Fortress. They only had access rights. If they took any items beyond their authority without permission, the artificial intelligence Unita would activate the defense weapon system.

Arkham Asylum.

Nanaue lay comfortably on the bed, flipping through a marine biology magazine, reading with great interest about the introduction to dolphin species. Alan was lying on his air mattress-like belly, already falling into a deep sleep. He had been busy for several days and hadn't had a good sleep. He was truly exhausted.

"The space-time anchor point has been locked. The host can travel through it."

"You can currently choose from Priest, Mage, and Shaman."

"Warm Tip: The difficulty of upgrading the third profession experience is increased by 50%."

"Selection timed out. Random assignment in progress."

"Congratulations to the host for choosing the Priest profession."

"Selectable timeline…"
