Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 1649: Two Versus One 1

The sparring match began as Alex stepped into the arena, his expression calm but his presence commanding. His training sword, forged from enchanted steel, glimmered with faint flickers of fire and frost dancing along its blade. Across from him, Artemia and Sera stood ready, their stances confident yet guarded, fully aware of Alex's skill and strength.

Artemia twirled her training spear with practiced ease, its polished shaft catching the sunlight. Lightning crackled faintly along its tip, a clear warning of her intent. Sera, in contrast, stood low and poised, her twin daggers glinting menacingly. Shadows seemed to ripple around her, as if the darkness itself bent to her will.

"Don't hold back," Alex said, his voice steady, his eyes sharp. "Come at me with everything you've got." He added with a smile, a provocative smile that seemed to have worked perfectly and thus the fight started.

Sera vanished. A whisper of wind and a faint distortion in the air were the only signs of her movement. Artemia didn't hesitate; with a sharp thrust, she sent a bolt of lightning streaking toward Alex. He sidestepped, his sword flashing up to deflect the energy with a shower of sparks.

[Tch! You should have used me!] Silveria complained distracting Alex.

"Don't worry you'll be used soon."

But the distraction was enough. Sera reappeared behind him, her daggers slicing toward his ribs in a blur of deadly precision. Without turning, Alex swung his sword backward, a wall of ice erupting between them. Sera flipped away mid-air, landing gracefully as the icy barrier shattered.

Artemia charged forward, her spear a blur of strikes and sweeps. Alex parried each blow with precision, the sound of clashing steel ringing through the air. Lightning surged along the spear, forcing him to dodge as the magical energy crackled dangerously close to his skin.

"Impressive teamwork," Alex remarked, stepping back as the ground beneath him turned slick with frost. With a sharp twist of his wrist, he sent a wave of ice shards toward Artemia. She spun her spear, the lightning along its shaft disintegrating the frozen projectiles in mid-air.

"Focus," Sera called, her voice sharp as she darted in again, using Artemia's attacks as a cover. She aimed low, her daggers a blur as they slashed toward his legs.

Alex leaped, his sword sweeping downward in a fiery arc. Flames erupted from the blade, forcing Sera to retreat again, but not before she flicked one of her daggers, sending it spinning toward his exposed shoulder. Alex deflected it with a flick of his blade, the weapon clattering harmlessly to the ground.

Artemia seized the moment, her spear glowing with energy as she thrust it forward with a shout. A torrent of lightning surged from the weapon, arcing toward Alex. He crossed his blade in front of him, ice blooming outward to meet the attack. The collision of elements sent shockwaves rippling across the arena, the crackling electricity carving through the ice in jagged patterns.

Before Alex could recover, Sera was on him again. This time, her movements were unpredictable, shadows flickering around her like living entities. She feinted left, then darted right, her remaining dagger slashing toward his throat.

Alex ducked, twisting his sword to meet her strike. The clash was fierce, sparks flying as her dagger scraped against the edge of his blade. Using the momentum, he spun, his free hand unleashing a burst of fire that forced her to retreat once more.

Artemia took advantage of his divided attention, her spear glowing as she summoned a column of water from the ground. It surged toward Alex, encasing him in a swirling vortex.

For a moment, it seemed Artemia and Sera had the upper hand. But then the water froze, the entire vortex transforming into a jagged column of ice. Alex burst free, shards flying in all directions. His sword now blazed with fire, the heat melting the ice around him in an instant.

"Not bad," Alex said, his tone still calm but now carrying a hint of challenge. He charged forward, closing the distance between him and Artemia in seconds. She met his advance with a flurry of spear strikes, but Alex's sword danced with precision, parrying each one. Flames licked along the blade as he pressed her, forcing her to give ground.

Meanwhile, Sera circled, her steps silent as a shadow. She lunged at Alex's exposed side, her dagger aimed for a decisive blow. This time, Alex anticipated her move. With a burst of fire from his off-hand, he created a fiery explosion that sent her flying backward. She landed in a crouch, her sharp gaze unshaken.

"Again!" Artemia shouted, her voice filled with resolve. She thrust her spear into the ground, sending a ripple of lightning across the arena floor. Alex jumped to avoid the surge, but Artemia was already in the air, her spear descending in a powerful arc.

Alex met her strike head-on, fire and lightning clashing in a dazzling burst of energy. The force of the collision sent Artemia skidding back, her grip on the spear tight.

Sera didn't waste the opportunity. She reappeared behind Alex, her daggers glowing with a mix of wind and darkness. This time, her strikes were relentless, each one aiming for a vital spot. Alex blocked and dodged, but her speed was unmatched, forcing him to rely on bursts of ice and fire to keep her at bay.

"You've improved," Alex admitted, his tone approving even as he pushed himself harder. With a sweep of his sword, he unleashed a spiral of fire and ice, the opposing elements creating a maelstrom that forced both girls to retreat.

But they weren't done yet. Artemia and Sera exchanged a brief glance before launching a coordinated attack. Artemia hurled her spear, charged with lightning, while Sera darted in low, her daggers aimed for Alex's legs.

Alex pivoted, catching the spear with his sword and deflecting it with a fiery explosion. At the same time, he dropped into a crouch, a wave of frost freezing the ground beneath Sera's feet. She stumbled, but recovered quickly, her momentum carrying her into a graceful roll.

Before either of them could recover, Alex leaped into the air, his sword blazing with both fire and ice. He landed with a resounding impact, the combined elements surging outward in a shockwave that forced the girls to their knees.

Breathing heavily, Artemia and Sera looked up at him, determination still burning in their eyes. Alex lowered his sword, the flames and frost dissipating.

"Enough," he said, a smile breaking across his face. "Well done, both of you. You fought with skill, coordination, and heart. I couldn't have asked for better sparring partners."

Artemia stood, wiping sweat from her brow as she grinned. "You didn't make it easy, that's for sure."

Sera sheathed her daggers, her lips curving into a rare smile. "Next time, we'll beat you."

Alex chuckled, extending a hand to help them up. "I look forward to it."
