Chapter 31
Mark shook himself from his sad reverie and went to his bedroom to sleep. He thought that he should focus on making himself strong enough to survive since his life was the only thing his parents left on this world. When he woke up, he checked the news on his phone to see if what happened last night were reported and contrary to his expectations, it was reported by the news. He thought that the government would cover it up somehow or something.
The news said that six people with different cancers at different stages were cured last night, two children and three adult. According to the news, the names of the patient were concealed for safety reasons but some of the people who were present last night said that a forest grew then disappeared and that was when the patients got cured. When he read the comments on some of the forums that he frequented, some said it was God’s angels who did it and some said that because it was a forest, it was mother nature’s doing. Some said that it was a spell by wiccans. There were lots of theories going on around but he did not find any mention of System or System Holders. Mark found it peculiar that the System Holders remained quiet but more than likely they were more cautious than him and may be a lot of them were not Americans in the first place.
Mark stopped browsing on his phone, went to eat and worked out for an hour. He was actually not sure if working out was doing anything or if the added stats were the main reason for him losing weight. It could be a combination of both but since it was only taking him only an hour now to do the work out, he continued doing it. And besides, the dopamine helped him get energized everyday. After showering, he decided to go to the Fifth Floor to start his dive for the day. He was thinking of completing ten floors then wait for two days for the whole ten floor monsters to respawn before tackling them again. He also cannot wait to check the next safe floor which was the Eleventh Floor since more than likely, it would be bigger than the first floor and possibly more suitable as a base.
When he arrived on the Fifth Floor, the cavern theme was replaced by forest. Mark thought that it was a good thing that his skills were not fire based and he would not start a forest fire during combat. The first thing he did was auto equip his dungeon items then cast Levitation to check its mobility, and it was so much better than the Space Floating Disc. He tried controlling his Levitation to move up to its maximum height which was twelve feet then he went down several feet. He also moved forward as slow and as fast as he could and everything felt smooth to him. He refreshed his Floating Sunflower then cast Space Shield and Bark Skin making sure that he could see the duration of the skills on his view. The he lowered his levitating form to around three feet, then he moved forward.
The first group of enemies that he saw were still hobgoblins and there were three of them. He summoned the two Plant Golem to check its combat capability and commanded them to attack. The golems moved forward and attacked the three hobgoblins. The two of them were melee, one was holding a sword, the other a spear and the other one was an archer. The archer tried to shoot him but it was intercepted by the Tree Golem without any problem since they were huge. The two hobgoblin warriors attack one of the golems. The other golem went to attack the archer. The archer moved back while attacking the golem. The first golem manage to kill the sword warrior after three hits and the spear holding hobgoblin disengaged and attack the second golem who had three arrows on it. When Mark observed that the second Golem was about to die, he cast the Tree Golem spell again and its HP was refilled instantly.
Mark thought that his spells were invincible. The fact that it did not have any cooldown aside from the one second global cooldown made his spellS overpowered. Mark thought that he should not be overconfident because he did not know the enemies and situation that he would encounter in the future and the lesson that he learned on the second floor was still firmly on his mind.
The first golem arrived to assist its comrade and they were able to kill the spear holding hobgoblin. The archer on the other hand was nimble enough to avoid the lumbering tree golems. Mark cast Field of Briar to slow down the archer and the Golems managed to catch up to it and pummeled it to death. Based on his observation, the tree golems were hardy and strong enough but slow so he would probably used them as well as the bush golems for defense. It was helpful that the golems were not affected by the Field of Briar but when he did some tests earlier, they were affected by the other spells, especially direct attack spells. Thorn Whip though, did not attack the summons, maybe because they were plant based.
Mark cancelled the summon and took the loot drops and Identified them. There were three of them, two of which were green and the other one was white. They were leather boots, leather pants and iron bow. He replaced his equipped items with better ones and destroyed the rest. He refreshed his defensive spells and continued floating inside the forest.
The next group that Mark encountered were a bit different. There were three hobgoblins, one fat tall goblin, which when he identified was an Orc, and two dire wolves. He immediately summoned his Tree Golems and Bush Golems. The summons in front of him comforted Mark and gave him a sense of security. He commanded the golems to just be on standby and only attack if an enemy came near. He the refreshed Floating Sunflower and cast Glacial Void. The dire wolves directly froze while the hobgoblins, one of whom was a shaman, and the orc were severely slowed down.
The enemies looked like they were encased in ice and Mark wondered what type of ice did the Void Force produced. He thought that may be it was not ice element. Mark thought maybe the spell sucked all the heat in the area but he was not sure. He would need to check the description later. He killed all the enemies by casting Void Storm and Lightning Void one after another.
