Demon Lord Gallery

Chapter 16 - Stranded (1)

While most Demon Lord Gallery members were buried in the gallery, showing off their achievements or peeking at others’ situations to make plans, more focused on the gallery than anyone else.
One gallery earth-bound spirit who should have been more focused on the gallery than anyone else was actually keeping the gallery window far away.
“I’ve packed the Sæhrímnir jerky, and I need to pack the compressed mead─”
The identity of this earth-bound spirit was none other than Odin.
Using the fixed nickname One-eyed Grandpa, he was treated as the Demon Lord Gallery speed wagon/explanation addict in the gallery and was one of the representative ghosts who stayed in the gallery 24 hours a day.
“What, there’s no more in Asgard? This is troublesome.”
The problem he was facing now was that the mead he was going to distribute to gallery members through sharing posts was insufficient in ‘Asgard’.
Did I carelessly say I’d give it out unlimitedly in the gallery?
With the sudden surge of troublesomeness, Odin couldn’t help but frown for a moment.
“I have to go down to Midgard. Hah.”
Midgard.
It was a dimension belonging to the multi-layered coexisting multi-dimension -Yggdrasil- and from the perspective of Asgard where he was staying now, it belonged to a ‘different dimension’, but in fact, this wasn’t a problem.
Unless it was a dimensional depth of 100 series or higher, dimensional movement was just one of the things Odin could do as easily as breathing.
The reason he was so averse to this was not because of the trouble caused by dimensional movement, but for another reason.
“…..Can’t be helped. Next time, I should check the quantity for sure before posting sharing posts.”
After sighing and making a few gestures in the air for a moment.
Soon, the space around Odin slowly distorted and then condensed into a single point before spreading out, and after this series of processes, the scenery around Odin had completely changed.
The scenery of shining vegetation, white soil, and golden palaces had disappeared, and now only a giant withered and twisted tree remained against the backdrop of a black sky.
Sssup─
Hah.
“This refreshing smell of toxic smoke. This place really never changes.”
Odin, frowning with all his might, soon waved his hand and took steps towards the giant tree standing in front of him.
The giant tree, starting from the horizon and piercing the end of the sky, seemed impossible to reach, but somehow, Odin was able to arrive at the roots of the old tree after walking for only a few minutes.
“The warehouse was…. under this root, right?”
Mumbling to himself and tracing old memories, he quickly found his bearings and soon entered a small underground warehouse.
And what was placed in the underground warehouse was giant barrels filling everything up to the end of sight. In other words, mead.
After magically compressing and packing the mead and picking up a bottle hidden in a corner, Odin came out to see the pitch-black sky welcoming him.
“Really a shitty sky”
A sky that seemed unbearable unless you poured something down just by looking at it, feeling stuffy.
That’s why Odin opened the bottle he had picked up from the warehouse and poured it into his mouth at the same time.
The taste of alcohol was bitter.
Bitter and bitter like the black and dark land and sky of this Midgard.
“It’s really a fucking sight. Isn’t it, Yggdrasil?”
As Odin, who was drinking alcohol like crazy, suddenly spoke to the empty air, the empty space that had nothing slowly split and a bundle of light popped out.
The bundle of light soon transformed into a female figure and slowly settled down next to Odin.
“…..Why Midgard”
“You should ask properly. Shouldn’t you ask why I came out of Asgard?”
“…Right. You, the main god, hated seeing dimensions other than Asgard, so why─”
“I came to get this. Can’t you see?”
As he shook the bottle he was pouring into his mouth, Yggdrasil nodded as if she roughly understood.
“…You’re bringing that to that Demon Lord meeting or whatever.”
“Yeah. Why, are you going to nag me not to hang out with those guys like before?”
“….No.”
“Then that’s fine.”
There was a time when Yggdrasil used to reprimand Odin.
How could you, the ruler of multiple dimensions and the father of a race of gods, the main god, associate with such low-class Demon Lord groups?
But now, after eons of time have passed, it was different.
Because Yggdrasil realized that the actions performed by the being called Odin were too close to those of a Demon Lord, and that Odin was by no means a good being.
Since realizing that he was finding ways to revive this dimension and his own body through the Demon Lords’ meeting called Manmajeon, she hadn’t made any comments at all.
“…..Do you think there will be results from this meeting?”
“Who knows.”
Although Odin had mastered the past, present, and future, he couldn’t give a definite answer to this.
The Manmajeon meeting, where countless dimensions intertwine, was beyond the ability of foresight.
“….”
“But there is one sprout that will surely become a possibility.”
Odin believed in the possibility of that sprout.
“It’s the first time meeting a dimensional depth in the 100 series. If used really well, this is more than enough to implement the [Grand Plan]. And if the [Grand Plan] is successfully completed─”
Stopping his words and looking around for a moment, all that could be seen were traces of black sky and death.
If the Grand Plan succeeds, this black and polluted dimension could be restored to its original state.
“We’ll be able to erase the pollution left behind by Jörmungandr.”
Jörmungandr’s poison, which doesn’t receive causality and scale correction, can be cleared away in an instant.
If that happens, it would be possible to bring revival to this dimension again.
“…Then, have a good trip.”
“Yeah. I’ll be back, so just keep the house safe.”
What was at stake in this regular meeting was the revival of Yggdrasil and 9 dimensions.
For Odin, it was an opportunity and a thread of hope that would never come again.
“Certainly”
I will achieve results.

30 minutes until the start of the Manmajeon regular meeting.

While most Demon Lord Gallery members were starting dimensional movement and posting authentication shots to heat up the gallery once again, I was receiving teachings from a Demon Lord in a really peaceful atmosphere.

“Uh…. so, I just need to click on this ‘Do you want to perform spirit division movement?’ message window floating in front?”

-That’s right.

“….Is it usually this simple?”

-It looks that way on the surface. That’s how magic is. Simple on the outside, but inside─

“Every time I hear things like this, magic seems too convenient. Is there no way for me to learn it, Viscount?”

-Haha, it’s impossible.

The Demon Lord was our kind service member and gallery’s favorite armband wearer, Wolf Viscount, and his teachings were, of course, about dimensional movement through spirit division.

In fact, there wasn’t much to teach because it was so simple that it was easy enough to not pay attention to the explanation.

“So what you just said is all there is to it? Are there no other guidelines or risks…”

-There’s nothing else, so don’t worry.

“Then can I move right now?”

-You’re free to move whenever you want, but I don’t really recommend it.

“Pardon?”

As I heard the Viscount’s words containing a negative view, my finger heading towards the spirit division movement message window stopped for a moment.

More than anything else, the fact that this kind Viscount didn’t recommend it was as good as saying it was a very bad path.

“Are there any penalties for arriving at the meeting place early? I was just going to go early and look around”

-You seem to keep forgetting, but we are Demon Lords. Well, it might be better to tell you to look at the gallery rather than explain. Try opening it now.

After being perplexed by the Viscount’s inexplicable words for a moment.

Soon I opened the gallery window, and almost simultaneously, I could understand the Viscount’s words.

[Satan, why don’t you start the meeting?]

[Fuck I came dressed up]

[First strike wins]

[Peaceful regular meeting

[Martial arts faction Demon Lord<-Thumbs up if you like them ㅋㅋ]

ㄴ[ㅇㅇ(400.000): How can I miss out on the super fun no-rules meeting place brawl?]
ㄴ[ㅇㅇ(666.041): I admit it]
[Feathered Serpent*: This guy is just going to enjoy the brawl and run away]

ㄴ[Spider Lord*: At least see the main manager’s face before you go]

[First strike wins]

[Author: Equilibrium]

[Ah.. You must be newbies attending the meeting for the first time.

You mean what’s happening now?

It’s the long-standing tradition of Manmajeon called first strike wins.]

[Comments]

[ㅇㅇ(666.974): Fuck weren’t we supposed to fight after the meeting!! Fuck!!!!]

ㄴ[Equilibrium: You believed that?]

[ㅇㅇ(666.943): What’s with waiting in front of the dimensional movement coordinates]

[ㅇㅇ(666.807): You’re really dead]

ㄴ[ㅇㅇ(666.807): You’re using your cunning to the max, you dual sword bastard]

ㄴ[ㅇㅇ(666.807): No, really]

ㄴ[ㅇㅇ(666.807): No]

ㄴ[ㅇㅇ(666.807): ……Please spare me, big brother]

Seeing the state of these Demon Lords fighting every other day, I don’t even sigh anymore.
“…What’s going on now?”
-It’s exactly as you see. If you look carefully at the notices related to the regular meeting, it’s true that fighting is prohibited ‘during the meeting’, and there are after-parties and duels in the schedule after the meeting ends, but there’s no clause saying not to fight ‘before the meeting’.
“So that’s why this chaos is happening─”
-That’s right. It’s easier to think of the brawl that breaks out inside the meeting place before the meeting starts as a kind of annual event.
I was really amazed at the cunning of the Demon Lords who cleverly use or escape the rules and use them as they please in this aspect.
“What’s the difference from fighting after it ends? No, they’re not crazy about fighting…”
-They are crazy. You’ve been watching for just over a month and still don’t know?
“…..”
-The duels after it ends are mostly ‘duels’ that are one-on-one or many-on-many as the name suggests, but the fights happening now before the meeting starts are ‘brawls’ where you can grab anyone passing by and fight. The fact that they’re clearly different also plays a part.
In any case, the conclusion was one. There was absolutely nothing good about participating in the meeting early now.
“…The spirit division definitely doesn’t take damage, right?”
Despite thoroughly reviewing the Viscount’s explanation and materials about spirit division movement, I couldn’t help but feel scared in my heart when I saw such a scene.
Honestly, just looking at the images and some videos being uploaded to the gallery now, flesh is flying, space is distorting, and heaven and earth are collapsing, how could I not be scared of having to face beings who can do such things?
-It’s magic directly controlled by the main manager, so there won’t be any problems inside Manmajeon.
“I’m sorry for asking so many times.”
-Doubt is a basic virtue of a Demon Lord. It’s nothing.
The Viscount, who laughed briefly after finishing his words, soon greeted me.
-Well then, I have some business to attend to, so I’ll go first. See you at the meeting place.
“Take care.”
-Oh, and if you’re really anxious, it’s fine to come late. Some fixed nicknames and elders are late to the meeting as regularly as they eat anyway.
The Viscount ended the conversation by throwing advice that wasn’t really advice.
[Connection has been terminated]
After clearing away the message window saying the dimensional communication had ended, I fell into contemplation for a moment.
What I need to do, what I need to gain from the meeting, future directions.
As I thought about propositions that were complex if complex and simple if simple, time passed in an instant.
Before I knew it, it was well past 30 minutes, with only a few seconds left until the meeting started.
“Shall we go.”
With firm resolve, I opened the spirit division movement message window in the gallery message box.
“…Whew”
After taking one deep breath and pressing the message window, my vision went dark with a new message window.
[Spirit division movement subject confirmed. Starting dimensional movement to Manmajeon meeting place]
And.
Heaven and earth flipped.
For a moment, I felt as if my five senses were distorted and thoughts and reasoning were escaping from my head, acting as a new self.
A flash of light strong enough to pierce through the distorted senses occurred.
When I opened my eyes, what I saw in front of me was something I had never imagined.
“….What?”
What unfolded before my eyes were giant metal sculptures.
Huge sculptures made only of curves, so smooth that there wasn’t a single angular spot.
The sculptures with the unique luster of processed metal were clearly artificially made, but strangely, no trace of people could be found.
For a moment, I blankly stared at those bizarre sculptures that were neither a Demon Lord castle, nor a meeting place, nor a temple, raising my head.
When I came to my senses and returned my gaze forward, message windows that weren’t visible just a moment ago were floating.
[Dimensional spirit division movement error occurred]
[Dimensional depth 300 -> 400 series jump failed]
[Your current status is dimensional castaway]
[Until Demon Lord Gallery communication is restored ….]
After reading the message windows in an instant, I uttered just one word.
“I’m screwed”
