Demon Slayer: Strength Gained with Every Swing of the Sword

Chapter 79: Chapter 80: Slaying Gyokko

The moment Onikiri began to stir with dark energy, its blade transformed into a deep crimson. The sheer intensity of his rage caused Feng Yu's entire body to undergo a dramatic change.

With the power of the Transparent World enhancing his senses, Feng Yu felt an overwhelming surge of strength rise from deep within his body.

Thump, thump, thump.

His heart raced with incredible force, as if it would burst out of his chest at any moment. His body temperature began to rise, and the Onikiri in his hand seemed to resonate with him, answering his call.

"My blade responds to me, it demands your life!" Feng Yu shouted.

The momentum around him erupted like a tempest, turning his previously faint yellow aura into a brilliant golden hue. The Onikiri in his hand had turned a deep red, its former green hue now completely eclipsed.

Silently, Feng Yu took out the fox mask and placed it on his face. In an instant, the mask morphed into the image of a death god's mask, and a shadow materialized behind him.

This shadow gleamed with blood-red eyes, staring intently at Gyokko.

Gyokko felt a chill run down his spine as the shadow locked its gaze on him.

"Damn it, what is this demon hunter? Why is he so terrifying?"

Gyokko's gaze locked onto the death god mask on Feng Yu's face, and his heart began to pound. It was as if the mask itself held some terrifying power.

Feng Yu saw the terror in Gyokko's eyes and then noticed the death god's illusion behind him. He understood that it was the mask's mental influence at work.

As expected, Gyokko was an upper-ranked demon. He quickly realized he was under a mental assault and quickly suppressed it. With a sneer, he taunted, "Look at these perfect pots!"

Gyokko took out several crimson pots and continued with a smile, "Do you know how these pots are made? These are the most perfect works of art in the world! They are made from the flesh and blood of every single person in this village!"

"Heh, heh, heh, I can tell… It seems that the girl's family meant a lot to you…" Gyokko slowly pulled out a pink pot.

"This one's made from that woman's remains. How about it, perfect, right? I still remember her expression when she sacrificed herself for the art!"

"These pointless lives were born solely to become perfect art!"

Every word Gyokko spoke stabbed at Feng Yu's nerves. Memories of his time in the village began flooding his mind, replaying the pure, kind faces of the villagers over and over again.

"You deserve to die!" Feng Yu shouted.

"Total Concentration Breathing: Breath of the Light, First Form, Moonlight Slash!"

The faint yellow blade light shot forward in an instant, so fast that it severed Gyokko's entire arm in one clean strike.

"How is this possible?!"

Gyokko was stunned.

"My body... how can it be so fragile?!"

Now in his full form, Gyokko couldn't believe that his once-impenetrable defenses were useless. He remembered his immense resilience and the fact that the Sun Blade could never have been so powerful. He screamed, "It must be your blade, there's something wrong with your blade!"

Gyokko's arm regenerated instantly, and in fury, he bellowed, "Blood Demon Art: Octopus Pot Hell!"

Another gigantic octopus appeared, but Feng Yu struck it with a single blow, slicing it into pieces.

"Total Concentration Breathing: Breath of Water, Twelfth Form, Raging Tsunami!"

A massive blue-white wave swirled around the octopus, and Feng Yu merely passed by it, the overwhelming wave completely enveloping the creature, turning it into a pile of mush.

With the Transparent World active, every move Gyokko made was visible to Feng Yu, and he knew exactly what the demon would do next.

"Have you decided how you want to die?" Feng Yu said coldly.

"Blood Demon Art: One Thousand Flying Gluttonous Fish!"

A thousand grotesque fish appeared, swarming toward Feng Yu.

He calmly took a detoxification pill and swallowed it, then said, "Water Breathing, Twelfth Form, Raging Tsunami!"

In an instant, the thousand fish were killed, and their toxic venom shot toward Feng Yu.

As the venom approached him, Feng Yu shifted his stance with a subtle movement.

"Water Breathing, Eleventh Form, Calm Waters!"

The venom that was about to touch him was instantly blocked, falling harmlessly in front of him.

"These tricks won't work on me, Gyokko. What other moves do you have? You should know... to me, you and your pots are nothing but repulsive, ugly!" Feng Yu glared at Gyokko.

Feng Yu recalled the information he had on Gyokko from his past life. He knew that the demon's greatest obsession was with the pots he created, and he could never tolerate any insult to them.

Sure enough, upon hearing this, Gyokko's emotions erupted. "You damned little brat!" he shouted.

"Blood Demon Art: Blood Hell Bowl!"

A pot with wave-like patterns was conjured, and Gyokko threw water from it. A massive water sphere began to envelop Feng Yu.

Feng Yu didn't try to avoid it; he simply allowed himself to be trapped.

"Is that all?" he scoffed.

With a simple wave of his Onikiri, the water pot, which had killed countless demon hunters before, was easily cleaved in half.

"Just like your pots, a defective product!" Feng Yu taunted.

"What!? You... You dare call my pots defective?! You damn brat, you'll pay for this!" Gyokko screamed in rage.

Hearing "defective product" set Gyokko off completely. He rushed toward Feng Yu, completely unhinged.

At full power now, Gyokko's speed was incredible, but in Feng Yu's Transparent World, his movements appeared sluggish, as if time had slowed down several times over.

"I won't let you die so easily," Feng Yu remarked as Gyokko approached.

"Total Concentration Breathing: Breath of the Light, Glory to the World!"

Onikiri flared with a blinding light, and Gyokko was forced to face it head-on.

"Ahhh!" Gyokko screamed as he shielded his eyes. Where the light touched him, black smoke rose as if his flesh were being burned by flames.

"My eyes… my eyes!" he cried. "What did you do to me?! Why can't my eyes heal?!"

Gyokko, now blind, wildly attacked in every direction.

Crash!

Gyokko fell to the ground, howling in agony.

"What's going on… the Glory to the World attack also has a burning effect?" Feng Yu wondered, observing the burns spreading across Gyokko's body.

"It seems to also suppress his healing ability," he murmured.

"Could it be the Transparent World... or is it the change in Onikiri?" Feng Yu glanced at the blood-red blade in his hand, then turned to look at the pots Gyokko had summoned earlier.

He spoke to Gyokko, "Your pots are ugly and repulsive. Let me destroy them for you."

With a crash, the first pot shattered upon hitting the ground.

"No! Let go of my pots!" Gyokko cried, unable to see but desperately running toward the sound of Feng Yu's voice.

"Let go of my pots!" he screamed.

"Heh, do you think that's possible?" Feng Yu sneered.

One by one, the pots were destroyed, until every last one was smashed to pieces.

"No!" With every pot's destruction, Gyokko's resolve cracked.

"They're gone... They're all gone! Damn little brat!" Gyokko cried, collapsing to the ground.

"Total Concentration Breathing: Breath of Water, Tenth Form, Life-Flowing Water!"

A blue-white water dragon appeared, crashing into Gyokko, and Feng Yu gently sheathed his Onikiri, leaving only his back for Gyokko to see.

Gyokko's vision returned just in time for him to see his own head rolling away from his body.

"You damned little brat... you don't understand art. You humans are nothing but pointless lives. You should have willingly given your lives for art!" Gyokko's last words echoed in his mind as memories of his human life resurfaced.

When he was still human, Gyokko had derived pleasure from torturing and killing animals, sewing their scales and bones into his pots. This brought him nothing but rejection and isolation from his village. Eventually, he met Kibutsuji Muzan and became a demon, climbing the ranks to become one of the upper moons.

The memories of his past flashed before him as he cursed Feng Yu with his last breath.

"Damned brat... damned..."

Gyokko's head dissolved into the air, and the notification echoed in Feng Yu's mind.

"Congratulations, you've earned 5,000,000 blade strikes!"
