"Another Encounter with Genya Shinazugawa"

Aoki said, "I heard dinner's almost ready, and it's matsutake rice!"

Mitsuri Kanroji's face lit up with delight. "Really?! Matsutake rice?!"

Singing and skipping, Mitsuri Kanroji ran off.

Aoki found it amusing. Shinobu and Mitsuri Kanroji, two of the few female Hashira, were close friends, practically sisters.

Though their personalities differed, they shared many common interests and understood each other well.

Shinobu sometimes mentioned Mitsuri Kanroji to Aoki, saying she loved food and had an enormous appetite, rivaling Kyojuro Rengoku's.

Aoki had witnessed Rengoku's appetite on the Mugen Train. Imagining the adorable Mitsuri Kanroji having a similar appetite made him shudder.

Following the path, they reached a large hot spring, bigger than some streams.

As Tanjiro admired the hot spring, something hit his head.

He touched it—a tooth.

Why would there be a tooth here? Tanjiro was confused. He looked towards the source and saw someone in the hot spring, their back to him. The figure looked familiar.

Tanjiro remembered seeing them during the Final Selection; they'd clashed with Aoki. The Butterfly Mansion trio had told Tanjiro his name.

"Genya Shinazugawa!"

Hearing his name, Genya Shinazugawa turned to see Tanjiro. He'd met Tanjiro at the Butterfly Mansion but disliked him for certain reasons.

He was about to shoo Tanjiro away when he saw Aoki, smiling faintly, standing beside Tanjiro. A chill ran down his spine, and he swallowed his words.

Before Genya could speak, Tanjiro stripped naked and leaped into the hot spring, splashing water everywhere.

"Long time no see! How are you? You and the Wind Hashira share a surname!" Tanjiro greeted Genya.

Genya was speechless. He wanted to scold Tanjiro, but Tanjiro was with Aoki, implying some connection. Aoki had helped him before, making it difficult to shoo Tanjiro away.

"Genya, long time no see," Aoki said, prompting Genya to speak.

"Long time no see, Aoki-sama," Genya said, ignoring Tanjiro.

"How are you and your brother?" Aoki asked.

"We're… okay. He still seems to reject me, but I know he's just trying to protect me from demons. That's why he pushes me away," Genya replied, a slight smile playing on his lips, contrasting with his usually grim expression.

"I really appreciate your help. I was surprised you stabbed me, but you avoided vital areas, and combined with the Swordsmith Village's hot springs, my injuries have almost healed completely."

"Good," Aoki smiled. If he and Sanemi reconciled, it would be even better; he could tease Sanemi about it. The thought of Sanemi wanting to kill him but having no good reason thrilled Aoki.

Tanjiro, noticing he was being ignored, looked dejected.

He shouted, "Long time no see! How are you?! Genya Shinazugawa, my name is Tanjiro Kamado! Pleased to meet you! From what you and my senpai said, you're related to the Wind Hashira, right? Your surnames are the same!"

Genya was surprised. He hadn't expected Tanjiro to be Aoki's junior. Logically, Aoki should be Tanjiro's senior.

This made Genya want to befriend Tanjiro. Aoki was a legendary figure in the Demon Slayer Corps; receiving his guidance would be invaluable.

Aoki and Tanjiro found separate hot springs.

Aoki avoided Tanjiro because he didn't like being naked in front of others, and also because…

Tanjiro brought Nezuko into the hot spring! She's a girl! Aoki couldn't be naked with a girl! While it was customary in Demon Slayer, Aoki was from Earth! In his culture was more conservative in this regard!

To avoid awkwardness, Aoki chose a different hot spring.

After their soak, Aoki and Tanjiro returned and found dinner ready.

"You really can eat!" Tanjiro exclaimed, watching Mitsuri Kanroji devour her food, a table full of empty bowls.

Aoki stared at the empty bowls, lost in thought. His hand trembled as he lifted a bowl of matsutake rice, some spilling due to the shaking.

After finishing her bowl, Mitsuri Kanroji said demurely, "Is that so? I didn't eat that much today."

"Pfft!" Aoki nearly spat out blood.

Tanjiro, like a simpleton, declared, "I need to eat more to get stronger!"

He began devouring his matsutake rice.

Suddenly, Tanjiro remembered Genya Shinazugawa. "Hey? Genya hasn't come yet?"

"I don't know. He's not in his room," Mitsuri Kanroji replied, shaking her head.

Tanjiro then asked, "By the way, Kanroji-san, why did you join the Demon Slayer Corps? Was it to avenge your family?"
