Chapter 257: I Don't Want To Betray Anyone's Feelings
As Cassius's fingers continued their slow exploration of her exposed ass, Aisha's breath hitched with a satisfied sigh, her body softening into his embrace.
But his hands suddenly froze, his voice erupting in a startled shout.
"A-Aisha!"
The urgency of his cry jolted her with panic, her eyes darting through the shadowed forest as she imagined bandits lurking, her vulnerability heightened by her lowered shorts and bare ass exposed to the night air.
"What?! What?! What happened?!...Are there bandits?! Are there bandits?!...Cause if there are I'm going to gouge out every single one of their eyes for seeing me like this!"
She squeaked, her voice trembling with fear as she clutched his shoulders and scanned the darkness for a looming threat and in response Cassius's gaze dropped to where her tail should have been, his voice thick with confusion as he said something that she never expected.
"Y-Your tail, Aisha...It's missing! It's actually missing! There's no tail down there!...I've been looking, but it's not swinging around, not anywhere!"
His fingers hovered near her hips, brow furrowed in bewilderment at the absence of her lively appendage.
"T-That's it?...You shouted over my tail?"
Hearing this, Aisha exhaled a deep sigh of relief, shoulders slumping as she glared up at him with flushed cheeks.
"You're freaking out over that? Cassius, you scared me half to death! I thought we were about to get ambushed or something!" She shook her head, as her exasperation softened into shy relief. "And it's not a big deal, okay? I tucked my tail into my shirt because I didn't want you grabbing it."
Finding about this truth, Cassius's eyes narrowed, his voice laced with curiosity as he leaned closer to catch the faint snake-like movement beneath her top.
"Tucked it away, huh? I see it now, wriggling in there." His fingers reached toward her shirt, playfully chasing the elusive tail that darted away. "Why hide it, Aisha? You're even letting me grope your bare ass and it's even fair game now. So, what's the big deal with your tall?" He teased, his voice brimming with mischief as his hand pursued the wriggling shape with delight.
"It's a huge deal, Cassius! My tail's way more sensitive than my...my butt or anything else!" Aisha gasped loudly, her voice sharp with indignation as she shifted her tail to evade his grasp. "I don't let anyone touch it, not Captain, not Skadi, nobody! It's off-limits, got it?" She snapped, her voice firm and eyes fierce with defiance.
Cassius's grin widened, his voice a playful plea as he tried again to snag her elusive tail, fingers brushing her shirt but missing. "Come on, Aisha, please? I really wanna touch it. Just a little, I swear. It's so lively, dancing around like that-it's driving me crazy!" He coaxed, his words sparkling with mischief as he leaned closer, reveling in her resistance.
Aisha's voice hardened, her gaze unyielding as she looked up at him, clutching his shirt. "Not a chance, Cassius! I've done everything you asked, okay? I showed you my...my butt, let you do that stupid moonlight thing, even though we're out here in the open where anyone could see!" Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as her voice wavered. "Now it's your turn to keep your promise. You said you'd answer my question, so do it."
"...Between me and Skadi, who do you prefer? Who's your first choice?"
She demanded, her words trembling with urgency as her fingers quivered against his chest, eyes searching his for truth.
Cassius chuckled, his voice casual as he leaned back slightly, hands resting on her hips with lingering warmth.
"Oh, that? Yeah, that question." He shook his head, his grin teasing before curtly saying, "Yeah, there's no way I'm answering that, Aisha. I'm not some fool who picks favorites between two girls. That's a rookie mistake, and I'm no amateur." He quipped, his words light and eyes glinting as he deftly sidestepped her trap.
Aisha's eyes widened, her voice erupting in disbelief as she shoved at his chest, frustration blazing through her.
"What?! You lied? You said you'd answer if I hugged you, and I...I did all this, showed you my butt, let you...ugh, and now you're backing out?!" She cried, her cheeks burning with indignation as her tail thrashed beneath her shirt in a fit of betrayal.
Cassius's grin held firm, his voice softening with sincerity as he leaned closer, gaze warm. "Yeah, I lied, Aisha, Guilty as charged." He paused, his words dropping to a gentle murmur. "But it's better this way, trust me. Even if I told you who I preferred, and you swore to keep it secret from Skadi, I wouldn't do it."
"I don't wanna betray anyone's feelings, not hers, not yours, not even behind closed doors...I wanna be real with you, with everyone." He confessed, his voice earnest, his eyes meeting hers with quiet integrity.
Aisha's breath caught, her voice faltering as her anger wavered, warmed by his unexpected sincerity. A stirring admiration formed for his integrity softening her gaze toward the man she'd once dismissed as a shameless flirt.
Cassius continued, his voice brightening with a teasing edge. "And I'm sorry, Aisha, truly. The allure of your ass was just too much, it made me lie to get my hands on it." His eyes sparkled with playful apology as he grinned. "Forgive me? I couldn't resist those cute little moons glowing in the night." He teased, his words lightening the moment with charm.
Aisha wanted to snap back, to scold him for tricking her into baring herself for a promise he didn't keep, but his words sank in, tempering her anger.
His refusal to choose wasn't just a dodge, it was respect for her and Skadi, preserving the bonds they shared. She despised backstabbing, recoiled at the thought of anyone speaking ill of Skadi, her sister and friend, behind her back.
If Cassius had picked her or disparaged Skadi to lift her up, resentment would have soured her admiration. So, his lie, infuriating yet thoughtful, was the best answer, making her admire his knack for navigating her emotions with ease.
Still, her pride stung, so she leaned forward and suddenly sank her teeth into his shoulder in a playful bite to vent her frustration.
Feeling her bite, Cassius laughed, his voice warm as he tilted his head, gaze softening. "What's this? If you're gonna kiss me, Aisha, aim for my face, not my shoulder!" He teased, his words playful as his hand brushed her back, delighting in her adorable retaliation.
"I'm not kissing you, you idiot!" Aisha pulled back, her voice a flustered squeak as her cheeks blazed, teeth grazing his shoulder in a defiant nibble. "This is a bite, punishment for lying to me!"
She huffed, her words cracking with embarrassment as she sank her teeth in again, her gentle bite firm with indignation.
"Punishment, huh?" Cassius's chuckle deepened, his voice affectionate as he looked down at her, nudging her head closer to his shoulder. "Bite me all you want, Aisha. Your little nibbles are too cute, like a kitten showing love to its owner. Go on, take another chomp, it feels nice." He urged, his words purring with warmth as his eyes sparkled, encouraging her playful defiance.
"You're such an idiot, Cassius!" Aisha exhaled sharply, her voice dripping with exasperation as she slumped back into his chest, her cheeks flushed with irritation and secret delight. "Seriously, you just take whatever I throw at you—bites, glares, insults—and look at me with those starry eyes like I can't do a single thing wrong!"
She grumbled, as her tail flicked beneath her shirt, her heart warmed by his unshakable adoration despite her protests.
"It's ridiculous, you know! Nobody should be this...this okay with getting chewed out! But...ugh, I guess I don't mind it. Being c-coddled like this, all warm and cozy like I can do no bad deed, it's kinda nice, alright? But don't let it go to your head!" Her words wavered with reluctant affection, her body sinking deeper into his embrace, her ears softening as a quiet comfort enveloped her.
"Nice, huh?" Cassius's chuckle rumbled through her, his voice a teasing caress as he leaned closer, his breath tickling her ear to spark a shiver down her spine. "That's the closest you've come to admitting you like even a sliver of me, Aisha."
He coaxed, his hand stroking her back with slow, soothing motions, his heart swelling with her admission.
"But don't worry, I won't let it go to my head...much. Just keep snuggling like that, and we're even."
His words purred with mischief, his lips brushing her ear as he whispered making her little heart race so much that she wondered if it was going to jump out of her chest
