Chapter 14: [14] Ellen and Dershein
Khein Jheller was a comrade that Zick could remember even in his dream.
Though the reason was unknown, Khein also fought against Ethereal with a hatred comparable to him.
Even if they don't work together in this life, Zick still treated Khein as a friend in his heart.
No notification from the system arrived no matter how long Zick waited. He didn't feel much surprise, as Khein was killed by Ethereal in his past life, so his destiny should be low or normal.
Going through the tablet, Khein frowned.
"Cadet Celene has applied for a week long leave." Announcing this, Khein put away the tab.
Maintaining the same stern face, Khein continued: "This month's assignments will be given to you according to the course you have selected. The instructors of your respective course must hand it over within this week. If not, raise a complaint at the main academic office."
"As for the general assignment for all the first year...." Khein waved his hand.
Multiple sheets appeared out of thin air, moving before the cadets.
Zick unhurriedly looked at the sheet.
[Survival test]
[Rules are as follows:.....]
"I will repeat it again, if you fail more than three times, you will be disqualified. And if you fail the monthly test once, you will still be kicked out of the academy."
Khein's cold voice made all the cadets clench their fists.
Khein took a look at everyone before continuing: "The general assignments will provide you with 50 GP, if cleared perfectly. The general assignments will be carried out tomorrow so come prepared."
GP, also known as grade points were what decided a cadet's standing in [Alter]. For those in the upper echelons, every single point is hard-earned.
For the cadets on top, just losing a single assignment could cause a downgrade in rank.
Even though he already knew, Zick was still a little excited.
'I can definitely expose Aster in this assignment.'
Assignments were the main source of grade points, aside from the monthly exam.
"And...." Khein raised a finger to gather attention back to him, "The monthly exam is next Monday. It has been decided to be a group exam. The details will be provided on the day of the test."
Many cadets groaned, seeing that it was going to be a surprise test again.
"Cadet Ellen and cadet Zick, you will be the representative of this year's diamond class. Keep up the good work." Khein walked towards the two said cadets.
Zick, alongside a girl sitting in the row before him, got up slowly.
Pale white hair, imbued with a silver glow, flowing down and luxury artifacts like rings, bracelets, and necklaces ripple like small waves on her.
Even among the talented and wealthy cadets in [Alter], Ellen stood at the extreme end, the daughter of the parliamentary family Jolheim.
A light flew past Zick's eyes. Jolheim's family stood just a level below his father, the senator. They were also known as the prime candidate for the next senator.
It was this family that betrayed his father before regression too.
Due to this reason, Zick couldn't look at the beutiful girl before him in a good light. Even if she had nothing to do with the betrayal.
[Detected a person with strong destiny...]
Zick's eyes twitched: '...She was very famous in the future.'
"Keep this badge always on your chests, when you're in [Alter]." Khein threw two badges with 'Alter' written on it to them.
"Understood." Zick nodded, while placing it on his chest.
"There are no general classes for you today. You can head to your respective chosen course." Khein dismissed the class without hesitation.
Watching the professor walking out of the class, many cadets got up and quickly formed into groups, heading towards their respective courses.
Just as Zick got up, a boy with black hair appeared before him.
"Let's go to the swordsmanship class, Zick." The boy invited calmly.
"Sure." Zick replied, while intently looking at the back of the boy.
'Dershein...' Before regression, Zick held a complicated view on him.
Because....Dershein became the senator after Wildart's death. Also known as the youngest and most talented senator.
Ethereal needed a controllable Senator and Dershein became such a senator.
Before this incident, Zick considered Dershein a friend, even though he was from a commoner's family.
'He didn't become a senator due to greed. I could already feel his ambition to enter the parliamentary system, the first time I met him. But I don't know just what he wants to accomplish through it....'
If Zick can find Dershein's goal and grant it to him, there is a high chance he would get another talented individual below him.
[Detected a person with strong destiny]
Zick ignored the system notifications for now.
Courses were presented to the cadets on the first day of their admission.
Zick chose [swordsmanship] and [Basic mana application]. The diamond class has special instructors, who will only teach the toppers of every year.
This way, they could concentrate on nurturing a bunch of talented cadets, instead of hundreds of mediocre students. Also known as concentrated nurturing.
On the way, Zick still acted friendly towards Dershein so as to not gather suspicion.
Arriving at the swordsmanship classes, Zick stood among the other cadets.
"This month's assignment will be another practical test. Take any eight streak out of Kovelram sword form and make five streaks of your sword technique."
The content was no different from what Zick remembered.
"This assignment will grant you 30 GP. If you want, you can copy sword techniques from others too, you just have to be able to perform it properly. A few gp will be detected, but you will still pass." The sword instructor looked at everyone with a sneer.
Zick could tell even without his future knowledge, the sword instructor would definitely fail the cadets who copy.
"Alright, we will continue where we left off yesterday..."
By the time Zick finished the swordsmanship class, it was already afternoon. He already knew most of the things taught by the instructors, causing him to be bored to no end.
There was no mana application class today, Zick bid farewell to Dershein before leaving.
'....I feel annoyed just looking at their faces.' Zick felt grateful that there were no mana application classes today.
Or he would have to stay with Ellen again. Jolheim's family was very close to the Dejlin family, which made it all the more surprising that they betrayed Wildart in the end.
Overall, Ellen's relationship with Zick was at a normal friend's level.
'Can I bring Ellen at my side? Seems unlikely...but not impossible.'
After entering his room, Zick looked at all the notifications displayed by the system.
[Name: Ellen Jolheim

[The host's relationship with Ellen has been detected. Obtained 2,000 destiny points.]
'As expected of a future magic tower's chairman.' Zick sighed and continued.
[Name Dershein Des Perje
Destiny grade: Legendary
Destiny: Will of fate - No matter what path he chooses, he is destined to obtain greatness in it.
Favourability: 40 (Very friendly)]
[Obtained 4,000 destiny points.]
'Very friendly? He really doesn't like speaking much....'
The words that Zick could exchange with Dershein in a single day were never above three to five lines.
'My plan against Aster will start tomorrow.' Zick solemnly kept contemplating, searching for any loopholes.
