Chapter 261: Secret Stash.

The laser lit up for only an instant. Within that instant, it produced a ray invisible to the human eye and most eyes. So most of the human soldiers didn't see anything amiss.

Even the elves and other races that saw something thought that their eyes were playing tricks on them because the ray only appeared for a brief instant.

But everyone saw the lightning in the sky suddenly become enveloped by a large explosion.

The explosion of light, heat, and sound shook the sky. It dispersed the accumulating lightning and scattered the dark clouds.

The explosion lasted for nearly ten seconds. When it was over, everyone could finally see a tiny spark giving off its final radiance. They didn't know what had happened exactly, but they knew that regardless of what had happened, a demigod had just died.

Kelvin saw more than what they saw, but even he was confused.

He felt the brief alarm of danger behind him. But by the time he looked back, the danger was gone.

However, he knew it was not a hallucination because the danger had only moved to the sky where the demigod was. So he knew that whatever the danger was, it was what caused the death of the demigod. He just didn't know how it happened.

He asked Wrath in shock, "What was that?"

She replied in awe, "That is the spear of glory. It is the second divine weapon of the Yggdrasil civilization, capable of killing world guardians, or demigods, as they are also known. It is a laser weapon, whereas the hammer of dawn is a plasma weapon."

"It produces a laser attack with electromagnetic waves of immense frequency and energy levels. The attack moves at the speed of light, so it is virtually undodgeable. But it requires days to charge. Depending on the power source, it can take a month to recharge, so it is not easy to use."

He exclaimed as he looked up at the sky, "Wow. Just wow."

He could see why it was called the spear of glory. One attack from it had forced the target to go out in one last blaze of glory. All that was left of them was their divine spark.

Wrath was happy that he shared her awe. She asked with excitement, "Right."

He nodded in agreement. "The elves thought they had one over us. They didn't know that we had something else in store for them. I guess the jokes in them now." Experience more tales on My Virtual Library Empire

Wrath snorted. "This is not the only thing they have in store. They still have another divine weapon in secret."

"The third one is easier to use and can be used at the drop of a hat. But it is a weapon of mass destruction that will damage the vitality of this world, so it is not used easily."

Kelvin nodded and listened. Then he hurriedly checked the army store after realizing something. Checking it made him confirm that the spear of glory was not for exchange.

He complained, "Drats. I guess they don't want to share their really good stuff."

While he was checking the store, a human demigod had risen into the air to grab the divine spark. Everyone below was looking on with yearning.

The elven kings didn't try to retrieve the divine spark like they did the second time a demigod had died. The sudden appearance of the spear of glory and the subsequent death of a demigod without any resistance had scared them silly.

Wrath shook his head and said, "Humans 3, Elves 1. At this rate the elves will lose easily."

He snickered and said, "I'm guessing you don't want that."

She admitted without shame, "No, I don't. I want them to put up an entertaining fight."

He shook his head and said, "Well, fortunately, the outcome of this invasion has nothing to do with you."

As he said that, he noticed that nothing else had happened for a few minutes. It seemed that the elves had given up and had no intention of antagonizing the human army for the moment.

It made him sigh in relief. But Wrath wasn't happy.

She said, "What they should do is gather all their power and attack us in one thunderous swoop."

He said, "That's their plan. They are just waiting for everyone to arrive before executing the plan."

She shook her head and said, "I meant the elven kings. They should forget about the mortal rabble and focus on the demigods to storm this place this very moment."

"They will either lose or win. If they somehow win against the human demigods and Aganju, there is nothing you soldiers will be able to do against them. That will spell the end of the first expedition."

"If they lose, which they are likely to, the death of so many demigods at once is likely to alarm the slumbering God and wake her up. Then the elves will truly stand a chance of victory."

He heard what she said and said, "I guess it is a good thing you're not their strategist. But I don't think they are stupid for not coming to the same conclusion as you did."

"They care about their lives, and they don't know exactly what the human army is capable of. Their decision to accumulate their forces and occasionally test us for weakness is a smart idea."

She shook her head. "I'm not calling them stupid. All I'm saying is that they are not desperate for victory enough yet, which is a bad thing."

"I'm not even asking for much. All they need to do is force Aganju to take action. As long as they force Aganju to make a move, his aura will definitely alarm the sleeping true god and wake it up."

He rolled his eyes and said, "Then you will be able to have the final showdown you so desperately crave, like some drug."

Wrath didn't deny it. "I need it so badly. I feel like it is at the tip of my fingers, but the elves are dilly-dallying. They are ruining my buzz."
