[Tower, Last City]

Following the aftermath of the City's relays being destroyed, a heavy tension simmered between the three leaders.

Ikorra stood by the console, arms folded, data pad flickering with warlock glyphs. Cayde leaned against a terminal with the laziest stance possible, tossing a coin up and down. Zavala, stoic as ever, stood at the center of the room, deep in thought.

"The relay construction is going well" Ikorra began, her voice steady. "Our engineers are making progress, but it's delicate. The current plan is to splice in our communications grid within the network that the warmind uses. But it'll be difficult."

"Of course. Rasputin's not exactly gonna welcome our intrusion in the network." Cayde asked, catching his coin mid-air. "Whatever you wanna do, we'll need to do it fast. Because if this operation's gonna drag on, the Devils are gonna come sniffing. Again."

"That, is the problem. The relays will take long. There is simply no other way. We can't compromise on the foundations. If we do, it'll simply fail again." Ikorra muttered glancing at Zavala as she rubbed her temples.

Zavala gave a measured nod. "The City cannot afford the Devil's interrupting this again. Even if they don't launch another full assault, they'll send scavenger teams—small but precise. We'll need counter measures."

He paused, then continued, voice low and sure. "I've put this forward once. Now, I'll say it again. We'll need Rasputin fully online. We need his aggression focused squarely on our enemies."

"So you're planning on poking the bear?" Cayde raised a brow.

"No," Zavala said. "I'm planning on letting the bear off the leash."

"You forgot the part where you pray it doesn't lash out at us." Cayde smirked.

Zavala chuckled dryly, a rare resigned smile tugged at the corners of his lips, "I suppose I did didn't I."

Ikorra and Cayde exchanged glances as they tilted their heads quietly.

Zavala stepped around the table, facing them both as he sighed, "It's not a secret that we're at an impasse. No matter what we do, there's no perfect plan. No perfect attack, and no ideal scenario."

"That's called life big blue." Cayde shrugged.

Ikorra shook her head, "We'll have to rethink this. There's too much risk."

"No." Zavala refused, he heaved in a breath as thoughts flashed in his mind. Then he spoke again, emboldened by his beliefs, "No more plans. No more workarounds. We'll do what we should've done from the start."

"F*ck around and find out?" Cayde blurted.

Zavala nodded, "Precisely. We'll use the new lights to activate Rasputin's array, lead the Devil's away as they try to interfere. Then, we use the chaos to covertly link our relays to that of Rasputin's."

"That's cool and all, but can you just say f*ck around and find out? Just once?...Please?" Cayde waited with bated breaths as Sundance recorded the scene, flittering beside him.

Zavala's lips pressed into a line, he held his head in defeat and sighed. "Fine. As of now, we will f*ck around, and find out."

Ikorra rubbed her temple again and gently shook her head, "I suppose I'll get the warlocks and engineers ready. We'll be waiting for your signal."

Cayde rubbed his chin. "You know, if you really think about it, its not a bad trade. Sure we might lose ground in the Cosmodrome to the big bad, but our comms just might gain the whole planet back."

"Exactly." Zavala agreed.

Cayde nodded, finally serious. "In that case, I'll send my top hunters to delay the Fallen as they retaliate. Let's blow some shit up."

"Let's not blow anything up. Have your hunters engage the main fleets if any. Can't have the new lights face a full frontal assault." Ikorra retorted.

Zavala ignored their banter and stepped behind the holo-table. He opened the command console and issued the new mission directly to all ghost's in the vicinity.

Mission: Activate the Warmind Arrays.

[Crucible]

The Crucible match was absolute chaos.

"Execute all targets! Alpha Team, you're ahead!" Shaxx bellowed.

"COVER the damn angles!" Waffles sprinted towards another corner.

BearSpray snorted. "WHAT do you think I am doing! That bastard is too fast!"

A blur flickered in the distance, darting towards them at breakneck speeds as it blitzed from one side to the other, moving in ways they'd never seen before. BearSpray panicked, unloading his entire magazine into the Spectre.

Waffles chucked a grenade, hoping to catch whoever it was in the collateral. But as the blast erupted and dust scattered, the kill feed didn't update.

BearSpray cursed, immediately beginning to reload. But it was too late. As he was caught in the animation, something moved.

He blinked, switched to his shotgun and flicked up.

"Eat shit!" FreakyFeet bolted, dodging to roll forwards as he hopped through the air, his hand cannon landed squarely on BearSpray's head, he pulled the trigger.

[Guardian Down!]

"NOOOOOOOOO!" BearSpray roared.

FreakyFeet blitzed towards the back, his eyes darted, searching for his next target, he dashed across the corners edge, pre-emptively firing, but no one was there. "What?"

But then the air shook, he looked up. His eyes widened.

"F*CK.... OFF!" Waffles hurled a nova bomb at his face, deleting him entirely.

"AMAZING, Alpha team, you're in the lead!" Shaxx roared.

"We're Cracked!" IEatPaint charged forward to claim the heavy ammo.

ThunderClappin jumped through the air, switching to his shotgun as he popped IEatPaint in one shot, "Cracked in the head! Dumbass."

IkorrasHairline slid in behind him, rushing as he placed an empowering rift. The two immediately switched to their rifles, holding the heavy ammo crate as its timer ticked down.

"Enemy has the lead! Alpha Team you need to catch up!" Shax barked.

"They're camping!" Waffles groaned.

"They're strategizing," corrected Gandalf, while floating slightly too high for comfort. "Which is cringe."

TheOneWhoKnocks sighed. "Let's push B and group up! Stop going solo!"

"I'M AN ARTIST," IEatPaint screamed, jumping towards the centre again. "LET ME EXPRESS MYSELF!"

Seconds later, the kill feed flashed: Guardian Down!

"Beautiful expression," BearSpray facepalmed.

Gandalf floated up beside TheOneWhoKnocks, launching an Empowering Rift. "Pull out the sniper!"

"You read my mind, you dog!" TheOneWhoKnocks said, then proceeded to snipe LeroyJenkins from across the map. "Let's go."

A rhythmic pulse filled the arena—Shaxx was clapping. Literally.

"That's what I like to see! Keep it up!"

Suddenly, FreakyFeet activated his Super and started skipping around like a madman with his golden gun, blasting anything within reach.

"He's just teabagged me," Undecided growled.

"Understandable," Waffles replied.

The match stayed neck and neck. Every time Alpha team took a lead, the opposing team pushed back just as hard. Grenades, Supers, melees, and stray emotes flew across the battlefield.

Gandalf also refused to fight anyone but Dumbledore.

ThunderClappin yelled "I'm lagging!" whenever he died. ILoveLoot camped the special ammo crates for killstreaks until TheOneWhoKnocks found him and ended that dream with a well placed golden gun.

Then came the final minute. Score: 94 to 94.

BearSpray turned a corner and screamed as he saw FreakyFeet darted across the map. "HE'S COMING!"

"F*ck, SHOOT HIM, SHOOT HIM!" Waffles shouted.

"DUDE, he's freaky like that!" Gandalf tried to land shots, but missed every bullet.

Shaxx's voice blared across the arena again. "Ten seconds remaining!"

The fireteams scrambled. Guardians blinked, dove, and sprinted across lanes. Heavy ammo spawned mid-map. As everyone rushed to the center, chaos ensued.

IEatPaint charged his super, instantly crashing towards the crate. His eyes widened, a team wipe was within reach. Inches away from thunder crashing into the floor, FreakyFeet activated a Golden Gun again, and headshot him mid air.

"WHAT!"

"He really is freaky like that." Undecided cursed, waiting on his respawn.

With five seconds on the timer, TheOneWhoKnocks broke right. He saw Dumbledore sprinting with a Trace Rifle.

With one clean pull of the trigger, TheOneWhoKnocks landed a precision shot. Dumbledore Down.

The clock ticked, two seconds remained. TheOneWhoKnocks flicked back, quick scoping as he saw LeroyJenkins mid golden gun. His heart skipped a beat, and then both sides pulled the trigger.

Victory!

"Alpha Team wins!" Shaxx announced, clearly thrilled. "Now THAT'S a team that bleeds Light!"

"GGs," Dumbledore typed in team chat.

"You dog, that was SO LUCKY!" LeroyJenkins screamed.

FreakyFeet quietly vanishing into orbit.

Both teams loaded back into the orbit lobby.

"I am never playing deathmatch again," muttered BearSpray.

"Admit it, you had fun," Undecided chuckled.

"Fun?" IEatPaint repeated. "I'm emotionally destroyed. But yeah. GG."

Then, a new icon pulsed on everyone's HUD.

Campain Mission Unlocked!

Objective: Activate Rasputin's Major Arrays in the Cosmodrome

"Oooh?" Waffles said, tilting her head.

Gandalf chirped. "Looks like this Rasputin is getting involved now."

"We doing it now?" BearSpray asked.

"Looks like it," said TheOneWhoKnocks. "Everyone's here."

"Cosmodrome?" IEatPaint grinned. "Bet. Let's go make some noise."

Without hesitation, all six Guardians triggered their transmats and prepared to descend back to Earth.
