Chapter 1094: Athena Vs Mushroom Paste
The robed devil didn’t stand a chance. The hell beasts, with their insatiable hunger and unrelenting fury, descended upon it in a frenzy. They tore its head from its body, ripping it to bits with their monstrous jaws.
Even though it had a weird ability that allowed it bring those from the dead back to life, there was not just enough power to stand against Athena. besides, this was hell and the fire that these hell beasts produced was so strong that it quenched the undead into nothing but ashes. With ashes, there was nothing to bring back to life.
This Robed devil had list long before the battle even began. Of course, this was majorly because of its opponents and the field of battle.
If humans back on earth had also had such ever consuming flames, maybe they would have also stood a chance back then when they had fought the undead commander.
The air was filled with the sound of crunching bones and tearing flesh as the hell beasts devoured the robed devil’s insides, sharing its disgusting remains amongst themselves like a feast in this pit of Hell.
Blood and viscera sprayed across the ground, and the beasts reveled in the grotesque meal, their eyes glowing with a feral hunger.
Once they had finished their grisly work, Athena commanded them to form a circle around her and the devil she had named Mushroom Paste.
The hell beasts obeyed, their bodies moving with a terrifying coordination as they formed an impenetrable ring around the two combatants. The ground beneath them seemed to tremble with the weight of their combined presence.
Mushroom Paste, smarter than most devils, immediately understood the situation. This was a duel, a brawl that would determine who would walk away alive.
It alighted from the hell beast it had been riding, the hell beast baby’s mother.
Its movements fluid despite its grotesque form.
As it did so, Athena also dismounted, her feet hitting the ground with a soft thud. The hell beast baby that had become her pet nuzzled its head against her body affectionately, its rocky skin warm to the touch. Athena patted its head, it was a brief moment of tenderness amidst this obvious the tension.
Then, with a deliberate wave of her hand, Athena let the phoenix robes she had worn fall to the ground. The once-glorious garment, still smoldering with the remnants of fire, lay in a heap, revealing Athena’s form beneath. Torn clothes wrapped haphazardly around her body, covering only the essentials, but it wasn’t her tattered attire that drew the eye. No, it was the golden glow of her eye sockets, the light within them burning with an intensity that seemed almost divine.
Golden runes marked her skin, intricate symbols that pulsed and danced as if they had a life of their own, moving in rhythm with her heartbeat. Each rune shimmered with a soft, ethereal light, casting an otherworldly glow over her body. It was as if her very flesh had been inscribed with the language of rebirth. A testament to the power she now wielded.
With another wave of her hand, golden tongues of flame burst forth, coalescing into the shape of two swords.
These were not the typical blades of a warrior, but the short, brutal swords of a gladiator—designed for close combat and the quick, deadly strikes that ended fights in seconds. Just like she had used when she was back in the pits.
The flames that formed the blades flickered with an intense heat, but they held their shape, solid and deadly in her grip.
Mushroom Paste chuckled, a deep, guttural sound that rumbled from its throat. It looked down at Athena, towering over her with its seven-foot-tall frame. Its long arms hung at its sides, the palms wide and strong enough to cover her chest with ease.
The devil’s skin was a mottled gray, covered in scars and burns, and its inverted six eyes glinted with a malevolent intelligence. It knew that in terms of sheer size and strength, it had the advantage.
But Athena was undeterred. She stood at just around five feet tall, a stark contrast to the hulking figure before her, but she radiated a power that belied her size. Her golden eyes locked onto the devil’s, and she could see the flicker of doubt in its gaze, the brief hesitation before it masked its fear with bravado.
The circle of hell beasts around them watched in silence, their glowing eyes fixed on the two figures at the center of the arena.
From a distance, Virgil watched the confrontation with keen interest. His usual smirk played on his lips as he observed Athena, his thoughts unreadable. He had seen her transform, watched as she grew stronger, more confident. But now, as she faced off against Mushroom Paste, even he could sense that this was more than just a fight. This was a reckoning.
Athena moved first, her swords slicing through the air with a speed that belied her small stature. The devil met her challenge head-on, its own weapons—clawed hands and brute strength—ready to tear her apart.
The battle had begun, and it was a clash of pure will and power, with the hellish landscape serving as the backdrop to their violent dance.
The first clash of their blades was nothing short of explosive. As Athena swung her flaming swords towards the devil, Mushroom Paste met her attack with its own massive claws.
The moment their weapons collided, a deafening metallic clang rang out, echoing across the battlefield. It was a sound that shouldn’t have been possible—the golden blades were made of flames, yet they struck with the weight and solidity of forged steel.
What was even more surprising, however, was the force behind Athena’s strike. Despite her smaller size and the devil’s towering stature, she pushed Mushroom Paste back with the impact. The devil’s feet skidded across the ground, its eyes widening in shock. It had expected to easily overpower her, but the sheer strength behind her blow had sent it reeling.
Athena’s golden runes flared brightly as she stood her ground, her grip on the swords unyielding. The devil, momentarily stunned, quickly regained its balance, but the message had been delivered: this fight would not be as easy as it had anticipated.
The circle of hell beasts roared in approval, their cries filling the air as Athena pressed her advantage....
